literally falling for /g/ meme
how are you /g/entoomen

man, i'm getting filtered by (avoiding?) the /g/uix installer

i've now tried installing guix on gentoo via https://github.com/trofi/nix-guix-gentoo which did not work

and the nonguix installer iso has not either https://github.com/bienjensu/nonguix-installer

the ecosystem seems pretty... flaky, but that's probably because i'm being a weirdo who's attempting to install it in ways i find least objectionable

You can bootstrap guix from existing guix installation using guix system init infact it is the way that it is done when installing guix from command line. If you need nonguix drivers to boot you can try booting guix from VM and sharing disk with it and then just including nonguix repo before bootstraping to get the drivers.

Microsoft are right now developing Azure Linux 4, which is based on Fedora Linux instead of being a standalone RPM-based linux distribution. But you may have already seen that coming.

Embrace, Extend, Extinguish.

Not that surprising, as the competency crisis eats away at Microsoft they'll be forced to outsource more projects. Fedora Linux is likely going to be much more stable then a in-house distro that has dubious updates and patches.

Didn't Microsoft used to have the guy that built Gentoo on the payroll? You would think they would have built up a decent amount of talent that way.

Ha, no. If the guy that started a vendetta against Microsoft is any indication, everyone super competent in Microsoft - people who's knowledge should have been considered a protected asset - got shat on and kicked out by jeets.

If someone wanted to build a competing OS, now would be the time as they can poach the pushed out and burnt out talent from Microsoft.

I think the long dick of the law would come for anyone Ex-Microsoft working on ReactOS.
I don't see how, unless they have their code perfectly memorized or will be straight up copying as ReactOS is still based on Windows 95/XP. I think they are better off working with Wine and making a BSD based clone that uses modern technologies at the core and a sane (and optional) compatibility layer for application/driver support.

You see, when a massive corporation alleges wrong doing, they can drown you with a lawsuit regardless of the truth of the matter.

The T580 of course.
I found a t580 LibreBooted ended up ordering that. I know it's a /g/ meme but they cost literally a quarter of a boutique laptop
If you haven't already seen/heard of this Arch distro, it is probably the best out of box experience for any Linux-based Distro I've used on a laptop. (Thinkpad T470s)

Despite using artix on my desktop it's been really hit or miss with laptops for me. My laptops aren't super crazy I have one Linux first laptop and one dell rugged book which should work but the radeon card in it glitched out hard
And I've recommended it to people only for them to run into major issues
