No. I took care of my property. I bet you had a bunch of scratched-up discs that half-worked.
 
I 'member really wanting to play Travian as a kid, because I really loved Asterix and the game had Gauls and Romans in it. Mom used it as a really powerful bargaining chip in my parenting, took me a long time to earn the right to finally play it. :-)
 
Remember when we paid for news, and consequently the news organizations depended on maintaining a reputation of not just printing complete lies, for their income and growth?

Ditching paid news for advertiser-sponsored "free news" over the internet was the kind of short-term decisionmaking that makes brown countries such shitholes.

This was my version of it. My God did it suck. It was fucking everywhere as well, on Flash game sites, on YouTube as well as on TV. (I didn't have adblocker at the time, I was an infant)

I always set them on their labels. Even 5 year old me knew the shiny side was probably the important one. As far as I recall our entire library still works fine.
(the consoles themselves, of course, are almost all dead.)
