the merits of throwing quarters at the monkey to make him dance

I disagree a bit with this for one main reason. There are people who do $1 troll tips. Those tips are only ever seen by Phil, and there's a good chance he'll either not read them or just give a "thanks for the money, dumbass troll" answer. The tips that are $4.20 or $5 so they come up on screen, or the cheers that are 50 or 100 bits or whatever, sure. But he still gets plenty of trolling that only he will see, so I think he'd still get a lot of trolling, even without the extra audience, just because of his tendency to spazz out and go on rants.
Oh I agree, and I definitely think it's dumb as shit to give him money to dance, especially since it doesn't work most of the time.

I was just pointing out that we also, to an extent, support the eco system of dsp "detractors".

I agree with you in most parts, there have been some funbombs dropped thanks to the troll tippers who donated 5$ or so, although mainly Wings donations pop into mind in this regard, for some reason. Idk, today I just started feeling that it got too boring/repetitive, I'm probably just too deprived of fun since "the business related washing machine" phonecall.

To be fair, and I hate being fair, it's hard to say "don't give DSP money" when he keeps going on a frothing rage about how snowkarl wants him to sacrifice his health by playing an extra few minutes.

I do not think DSP should be given money under any circumstances, and it's clear he's now ignoring most of the troll cheers/tips, but it's very hard to make the argument that trolling doesn't work when at least 2-3 times a week there is a troll tip that causes DSP to rant unhinged for 10 minutes.

I can't condone the behavior; but I understand.

Yeah, but with highlighted messages and "@-ing" Phil, you can usually achieve the same thing, especially on streams where the mods aren't around. The one benefit of a troll tip, I guess, is that you can use a fake name, so he doesn't know who to ban.

Who's the one getting trolled, though? Phil won't read anything if you don't pay him (except in extremely rare cases or you're Sidella or something). Thus, Phil only gets "upset" when he gets money and thus he wins in the end. Thanks for the money, dummy.

There's also part of Phil that's putting on an act. He's admitted many times to overdoing the "I was blahking, bugged netcode lag" nonsense in fighting games, and it's obvious when he's exaggerating it. He's probably doing the same with snowkarl knowing he'll keep khantributing, along with knowing he'll pay to get unbanned like other idiots.

Bottom line: Never give Phil money. Lack of khantributions will cause guaranteed genuine frustration and manchild behavior. But, people will never learn, so fuck it.

This is the weirdest thing for me, you said it more clearly than I ever could. Feels like the casual troll tipping and quote spamming has given him a little bit of ground to stand on, because he can clearly see the shit the detractors are saying on the regular basis. Let's say a year ago, it didn't feel like that, he was basically always a step behind the memes and it is always funny seeing the piggy trying to resolve any kind of puzzle.

Yeah, but this is the smash face into wall until face wins. Sure that sometimes happens, and has even been documented.

But odds are you're just going to have broken teeth and a concussion.

I guess I don't get it. I'm an active tractor and I've avoided direct khantact with Phil for years. I only visit his YT channel once in a blue moon to quickly look up a clip I can't find anywhere else, never commented on his Twitter (he eventually blocked me anyway), and I can count on one hand the times I've ever surfed to his twitch channel probably having been there a grand total of around 2 minutes.

I've never felt deprived. Its a chore to watch his raw khantent. Good samaritans process and package it up in a much better form. He's the manure they're the gardeners snort. Unless you're one of those who gathers his khantent or you have a really good troll going on whats the point of putting yourself under his petty power by going into the Pigpen in person? You'll generally do better denying him the support and you can annoy him just as much if not more on the outside ie post here and relax knowing he's likely reading this thread right now biting his fingers in anger.

Now that we know how easy charging back is, with a little help from Wings (saying the product wasn't delivered ‘always works’), can the troll tippers just agree to ALWAYS CHARGEBACK?
Wings' trolls have tried this for a long time. You can't expect the common troll to bother doing chargebacks regularly, especially when it's only for a buck or three. Plus, you can only do it so many times.

It depends. I don't see the harm in chucking him 2$ or whatever occasionally to have him say something goofy. If 2$ is a meaningful amount of money in your life you have worse problems to be worrying about then the ethics of tipping twitch streamers. People who spam him with donations and go through the effort of chargebacks and shit are pretty stupid though.

At the same time, I don't really understand people who try and take some kind of moral high ground about people tipping phil. If phil really makes your blood boil that bad then why even watch his streams. I've always seen phil as being in the same tier of internet curiosity as chris-chan and don't really understand why people have raging hate boners for him.

It works once or twice per person. You can't keep doing the same thing on the same credit card.

Honestly, my opinion is just don't tip if you're gonna troll. The troll tipper pretty much always look like the bigger dick.

That's why I cant watch wings, his trolls are too blunt, boring and bigger cows.

The argument I'll always make is that Phil's funnier when he's begging for money, when the streams are "slow". Yeah, he's still a salty bitch right now, but he's 1000 times worse when he sees his tips are at $30 after several hours. Troll tips do add up, even if they're not a majority of his money. He's also catching on now, so the only way someone is "trolling" is to do a chargeback. Except he's paying attention to that too. There were two large "troll" tips today, and he didn't put either one up, assuming they'll be charged back. If he can do a "refund" without paying a fee, I guarantee that's what he'll do.

So basically, why bother giving him money, which he might get to keep if you try and charge it back, versus just using a highlight message or something? The best trolling, imo, is the kind that's innocent enough to be from a fan but still gets him rolling on one of his dumbass rants. And that doesn't require giving him one cent.

I say investing 50 bits into a message which can be seen by the whole stream and has the potential to mske him rant for 20 min and more is worth it. You have to do it smart, with an innocent question or point he can agree. I personally don't do it, but I don't think a well crafted 50 bit message which gets his blood boiling isn't worth it. The entertainment is godlike, so many tevin or rambo rants I can remember.

I don't know why everyone pretends the people posting autism here and the people giving Phil dumbfuck tips there are the same group.

Tevin/etc have a huge circle of detractor dumbfucks to throw pennies at the ape.

The farms isnt the main source of mocking Phil we're just the least likely to be licking the short bus windows when Phil isnt streaming.

Save your tard rage for other shit.

For sure, Phil (again similar to chris) is often way funnier when he's just left to his own devices. Often his biggest troll/detractor is just the game that he's playing. The most infamous This is How you Don't Play's are still the Dark Souls ones and it's not because someone trolled phil or annoyed him in his stream chat, it's because he's just really fucking bad at the game and whines about it the whole time.

I didn't want to share this because I feel like it will become overused, but some of the funniest phil content recently has been people asking him about his opinions on current world events (particularly about coronavirus). Phil is extremely opinionated but also doesn't actually read anything or do any research so his opinions are always laughably ignorant (just give everyone coronavirus dood!!!! Bugged immunity mechanics!!!!!) and very boomer-tier. giving him bits to make a joke about his taxes or him snorting or whatever is way to obvious and 99% of the time just gets ignored.

Like seriously, if anybody here donates to his streams-literally just donate and ask him some seemingly innocuous question about politics or streamer drama. It's way more likely to produce something funny rather then just making a WWE mobile game reference.

Tevin has stated multiple times he does not condone anyone giving Phil money.

The problem isnt that people give him money to set him off or troll him. It's that 99% aren't funny or good at it. Leave it to the professionals like snowkarl
Pretty much. 99/100 times will get no reaction or a "thanks for the money dummy". The 1/100 is just as easily done by just doing it in chat without paying Pig.
