The Mining Pit

Null is just a guy. Like any of us other guys/gals/guy-gals he respects transparency. He listens to us, and is right now taking questions and offering solutions. He could have just done it without saying anything but that's not fair to us.

Augh Yeah!!!
TFW you make all the circles that matter fill up

Just click the circle until it bottoms out to full grey again and refresh all your KF tabs to make sure it sticks.

Great, thanks for the easy solution. I disable it on desktop-mobile and crank it up to 50% on my windows machine.

FWIW, I think the mining script is a pretty elegant solution that utterly minimizes the impact to (most of) the user base. The average user will barely use a few kWh per month — costing maybe a half-dollar — and it helps keep the site funded. Other less-scrupulous sites will monopolize your entire CPU runtime, without telling you, and without your control or consent.

Honestly, what’s to complain about?

That's strange. I've made a change where it doesn't attempt to reconfigure the miner if the miner doesn't exist.

Graphically, it looks fine and the circle fills up. However, CPU usage remains exactly the same.

In Vivaldi, when I fill up the circle, idle CPU drops to 0 immediately.

No Javascript errors.

Code:
functions.min.js:4 XenForo.activate(e.fn.init(1))
page-9:3186 tier 1 to 10%
page-9:3186 tier 1 to 25%
page-9:3186 tier 1 to 50%
page-9:3186 tier 1 to 66%
page-9:3186 tier 1 to 75%
page-9:3186 tier 1 to 85%
page-9:3186 tier 1 to 100%

But nothing actually happens.

Nice, disabled Adblock and I will donate even more of my CPU when I'm with my computer on, but studying.

Changes may not take effect until you reload all KF tabs.

The logo circle thingy seems to be working really well for me (I'm using chrome) - CPU goes up/down within seconds.

Seems to be working now. This is good because I can turn it on and off when I'm not using it. It slows it down way too much when I do my open 50 tabs at once thing.

I've actually just added code to disable it entirely on mobile phones.
I was just about to ask about this. Much appreciated.

I'll disable Adblock and contribute when I'm at home, but I'm usually on my phone and CPU usage eats battery like no tomorrow.

May I suggest you write it somewhere in the footer, so that people know what it is and how it works without reading this thread?

Actually, fuck that: it would only make random people think "Duhhh, this thingy is doing a MININ' on mah COMPUTAH? I dunno what it is! I must turn it OFF, now, now, now, now!"

But on the other hand, is it transparent enough to hold in a court? People got in trouble for "not transparent enough" browser mining shenanigans.

Ordinarily I refuse to let anything run without my permission when on the net. I now have my adblocking paused for one site only. Just one. Kiwi Farms. And I now have a good splash of green on the circle at the bottom of the page. Mine away for the good of the Farms!

I want to do this but I am a poorfag that only has a refurbished IBM Thinkpad laptop that runs on an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and this computer is already laggy so I don't know if mining off my computer would be good. I really want to be able to support this site.

I was initially concerned with performance, but even my shitty laptop can mine at almost full capacity without slowdown and barely any at maximum. You've got no excuse not to do it, fam.
