The mysteries of Gilligan’s Island - This is what I wonder about

That was the entire point of Rescue from Gilligan's Island. The castaways were much happier living together on the island and their neighboring island natives despite all that whining about missing home.

Anyhoo, the ship war to start all ship wars that it ended up in the TMNT movie: Who does Gillian end up shacking up with, Ginger or Mary Ann?

Neither: He was the Skipper's Bottom Boy.

Nah! I'm saying Ginger. Partially due to it being unexpected, and having the whole "Bond between two odd people forming due to unexpected hardships." Gilligan was a screw-up but he was loyal and reliable, which is more than can be said for most actors, plus while being her husband, he won't overshadow her stardom.

No Gilligan was the smartest man on the island. In the real world he was stuck slaving away as just another wagie. Stuck working for the Skipper. Not able to improve his station in life.

He knew he had a good situation on the island. Only eligible man on the island with two hot women. Didn't have to slave away making money for rent and living expenses. Gilligan didn't sabotage attempts to get off the island out of incompetence. Gilligan didn't want to get off the island. He recognized he had a good thing and was going to keep it going at all costs. On that island he could be a king.
