The NBA Thread

Not that anyone cares that much, but just want to say congrats to Paul Pierce, Chris Webber and this famous Dinosaur/Ostrich for officially making the Naismith Hall Of Fame tomorrow:

Believe it or not, I genuinely have better memories of him playing on the Toronto Raptors with the likes of Jalen Rose and José Calderon, more than he was on the Miami Heat.

Either way, for us kids that lived in the 2000’s, it says a whole lot that the NBA All-Stars that we used to watch a lot growing up are now getting inducted into the HOF. I’m right now waiting for Dirk, Steve Nash and (maybe) Jason Kidd to be inducted next.

Congrats to all getting inducted, even if in the Ostrich’s case, it was more of trolling than laughing with him:

Man I can't believe Kidd isn't in the hall yet. If it's a character thing, why the fuck is he still getting jobs in the NBA?

On the subject of Bosh, I read some shit the other day where Wade and Bosh were trying to recruit LeBron to Chicago, but the Bulls couldn't make the finances work because they gave Luol fucking Deng a bag the previous offseason. LMAO. They would have had MVP D-Rose, Lebron, Wade and Bosh on the same team!

Don't forget Buh-buh-buh Ben Wallace.
Him, Tony Allen (who alongside Z-Bo and soon hopefully Marc Gasol, is getting his jersey retired in Memphis) and Rodman was why I focused more on defense as a 6ft center (just Philippines things) during highschool because they made defense badass, especially for those who sucked at offense like me.

Chris Bosh's induction kinda stings because right before hia clotting issues, he was on his way on possibly taking D-Wade's spot as veteran leader/1st scpring option which was refreshing after years of Bosh slander while Lebron and Wade was running things.

I'f that were the case, D-Rose woulda never gotten his MVP and I don't wanna live in that world regardless of how his career got hampered by injuries.

Would you like a guy that can't shoot at all in return for a clutch shooter?

Can't say I blame Durant for being so direct.

Ben Simmons is such a fucking clown. At this point, I think his best career path is going to another team and taking on a Draymond type role, where he plays All-NBA defense and gets a shitload of assists without any scoring expectations at all. The problem is he overvalues himself so much I don't think he would accept a role like that. His playmaking and defense are top-notch, but he's so fucking deficient at putting the ball in the basket and has given no indication that he wants to improve.

This is probably a bullshit rumor, but I've heard Stone and the Rockets are nibbling around with a package of John "Worst Contract in the League" Wall and AsSeTs (unprotected Brooklyn picks a couple of years down the road). No fucking way Morey takes that over a McCollum package from Portland.

Speaking of NBA clowns, 18 ex-NBA players had been charged in insurance fraud. No need to imagine the "dindu nuffin" reactions.
Eighteen former NBA players, including former Celtics and Clippers player Ronald Glen “Big Baby” Davis, have been arrested and charged with defrauding the NBA’s Health and Welfare Benefit Plan out of nearly $4 million.

The ex-players are accused of submitting false reimbursement claims from around 2017 to 2020 for medical and dental services that were not actually purchased, according to an indictment filed in federal court in the Southern District of New York, or SDNY.

Those false claims totaled about $3.9 million, according to the indictment. Players received about $2.5 million in total fraudulent proceeds, with each receiving as little as $65,000 to as much as $420,000.

“The benefit plans provided by the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association to our players are critically important to support their health and well-being throughout their playing careers and over the course of their lives, which makes these allegations particularly disheartening,” The NBA said in a statement Thursday. The league noted that it will cooperate with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in this matter.

The NBA Players Association also said in a statement late Thursday it was aware of the indictment and will continue to monitor the situation.

Kyrie Irving is a dumbass lol. It will be interesting to see how far the Nets fare with only KD, I think they have a chance at the finals.

I hope this season we don't have the injuries we had last year, it was the first Finals I couldn't watch.
Just to follow up here, Kyrie seemed to have no problem only playing road games, so the Nets have just outright banned him from the team.

I fully expect Kyrie to just sit out the season. He's already missed weeks of games for "mental health reasons."

Kyrie Irving is breaking ground like Jackie Robinson. What an absolute legend.

If the Nets aren't going to have a full season of KD and Kyrie, they're going to need to come up big in post play if they want to make a run for the Finals.

Kyrie Irving did got some support.
There aren’t too many people who are backing Kyrie Irving right now with regards to the Brooklyn Nets superstar’s refusal to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Well, NBA legend Stephon Marbury is one of them, and the former All-Star point guard decided to go on an all-out attack on ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith over the broadcaster’s incessant criticism of Kyrie.

Marbury did not only send a ton of praise towards Irving’s direction, but in the process, he also decided to attack Smith on a personal level:

“It’s sad to hear Stephen A. Smith talk about Kyrie Irving the way how he’s talking about him. Calling him selfish — this man has done so much stuff. for human beings and giving back and trying to help so many different people of all different cultures,” Marbury said in a now-viral tirade (h/t Nico Martinez of Fadeaway World).
“This is what happens when you have people like this guy, who’s animated, not realistic about what it is that he speaks and talks about. He played a little bit of basketball, but come on, seriously? You letting this guy talk to you about sports? This guy never got hit in a football game, he never swung a bat, and this is the person who they have speaking and talking about what’s going on in sports? Man, you need to defund his voice.”
Unsurprisingly, Smith fired back with his own brand of savagery against Marbury:

“I’m not going to go off on Stephon Marbury. But I will say that Stephon Marbury has had a problem with me since 2009 because we thought he was a bit bizarre when he was eating vaseline. Literally on video, like it was a bunch of cheeseburgers. Like gobbling vaseline, crying, later admitted he was depressed.
Stephon Marbury was somebody that was considered an incredible, tremendous talent, but who had leadership issues. And so it seems more than apropos that he would come to the support of Kyrie Irving…”

The TNT guys trying to vax shame Irving as their first act of the season was not a good look. 😬😬

The bucks look beastly, and westbrick showed just how wrong LeGM was for selling the farm.

I really hope by TNT guys you don't mean Barkley and Shaq and just faggot ass Kenny Smith. That's really disappointing to hear if Barkley and Shaq are giving Kyrie shit about this.

It's always a good day to see LeBron start of 0-1. I just do not see how the Russell Westbrook experiment is going to work out as long as there is only one ball on the court at a time. I also hate seeing someone I like in Malik Monk being teammates with JaBron Lames.

Man my thoughts exactly, except unfortunately Kenny was the only one with any kind words for Kyrie. Chuck and Shaq were the one's on the attack, Ernie didn't really say anything on the topic.

Also, Adam Silver did what you’d expect:

If you type “kyrie irving” on YouTube now, there’s more videos about sports media saying he should be traded and only a few supporting his decision to not wanting to be vaccinated.
