Lot of Kings fans aren't happy Sabonis got snubbed. I could see him over Sengun, but they're not gonna leave the current 2 seed without an all-star and I don't think Sabonis has a real shot over the other fromtcourt players. The West's reserves are stacked with frontcourt, in contrast to the East where injuries chopped that down quite a bit. Pretty funny how LaMelo won the fan vote yet isn't an all-star at all, but I ultimately think that's correct performance wise. Nice to see JJJ and Mobley make it on, someone out there still appreciates defense.

Edit: Kyrie's absence does seem like a bit of a snub given that the Mavs are alright despite a huge amount of their team and their star player being injured. 1st time All-Stars include Cade, Herro, Mobley, J-Dub, Wemby, and Sengun.
Pascal Siakam seems a bit out of nowhere, the Raptors are God-awful this year. LaMelo may be a bit of a meme but I would have had him in there instead.

Siakam's Pacers, not Raptors, though in all honesty I've paid no attention to them this year so I can't say either way. What I can say is that he's a frontcourt slot and the front court out east was shallow as is (Paolo and Franz are hurt, the Cavs weren't gonna get a fourth all-star, Bam's had a down year, Scottie Barnes missed a lot of games) and I'm not sure LaMelo was even in competition with him for the spot.

Edit: Just remembered the Mike Brown stuff. That probably also contributed to Sabonis getting snubbed. His stats are clearly much better than Sengun's (and I don't think Sengun's defense is that good, Sabonis' may be terrible but Sengun would need to be in All-Defense conversations) but coaches probably weren't going to be very nice to Kings players and coaches also have always valued team record way more than fans so the #2 seed wasn't gonna get 0 selections.

Oh shit. Goes to show how much attention I'm paying this season.

I think this marks the end of me watching pro sports. I now fully understand why so many people think it's all rigged. In what way does this trade make any sense except for a ratings boost?

Unless Lucas injury actually has him crippled for life this might be the worst sports trade I have ever seen. I kind of wished I watched Basketball more often so I can stop watching out of protest. Baseball literally can not start soon enough.

I'm usually not one of those sports conspiracyfags, but I agree in this case.

Bros what the fuck is this shit?

Even if that were true, it still wouldn’t justify the return they got. Look at the Bridges trade, Paul George, Gobert… the Lakers even retained a first round pick for fuck’s sake. The only explanation is collusion. League ratings are down, so they move a generational superstar to the fucking Lakers. And to blindside Luka with this — then shit talk him on the way out, after he just carried the Mavs to the Finals for the first time since 2011 — is just beyond disgusting. I guess the other possible explanation is that Nico Harrison is a double agent for the Lakers. What he just did to the franchise should be considered an act of front office terrorism.

Ageeed, I’m 100% done. Maybe I should be thankful, because now I have absolutely no reason to pay attention to the sport at all.

Btw, it’s hilarious to see some Mavs fans say “Cuban wouldn’t have let this happen!” except… he just did let it happen. Cuban is a faggot and often made bad decisions, but the one thing no one ever doubted was that he genuinely cared about the Mavs. That changed today. He sold the team to turbozionist casino pigs and lied about still having complete say on the basketball side.

They were just in the finals? Why blow that up for a guy who can't stay on the court?

Frak it, I'm going Alex Jones mode.

NBA needed to find someway to get ratings up, what better way then to get a top 5 player to LA, sure it screws over a top 5 media market but people will watch now!!!! Plus that media market was Football Country anyway!!!!

Watch as the Lakers win the lotto with under 1% chance too!

I've seen people mention how this was enabled to let the new owners to move the team to Vegas in a few years.

Plus, HOW IN THE BLUE HELL DO YOU ONLY GET A '29 1ST RD PICK.

Absurd trade. Is Luka actually just permanently injured a la Kawhi and Embiid and they're covering it up? Did Luka kill someone? Was Nico Harrison a deep cover spy all along and he's now going to conveniently pick up a high paid do nothing position at the Lakers? Are the Mavs owners trying to deliberately alienate Dallas so they can pack their shit up and move to Vegas? This move just genuinely doesn't make sense for them without conspiratorial thinking, and that's coming from me.

It seems the Mavs owners didn't want to pay Luka the supermax. Setting aside that he's one of very few players it's actually worth paying like that, they got so little in return. If you really want him gone because you're afraid that Trump's gonna deport him or whatever, you have the opportunity to set off the highest bidding war ever and get basically whatever you want. I'd only say that SGA, Jokic, and Wemby are off limits. They probably could have gotten Giannis with the right negotiations if they tried hard enough. Instead, they trade a 25 year old who just got them to the finals while injured for a soon to be 32 year old who is infamous for getting injured all the time (though in fairness, he's actually been pretty healthy lately)... and only one pick on top of that?
Not so Breaking News:
Lakers traded for Luka Doncic.
Anthony Davis to Dallas
Jazz are involved as well.

This might beat the Shai/Clippers trade for the worst trade ever.
At least the Shai trade made sense at the time. Kawhi was coming off his championship and his knee wasn't completely obliterated yet. He was still in talks about being the best player in the league, and Paul George was no slouch either. Nobody knew what Shai was going to become yet. This has to be up there with those old Stephien trades that got a rule put in to stop them because he just destroyed his team's future for like a decade, what the fuck.

I've got a different take.

This trade makes the Mavs a better built team. They have a better chance of getting back to the finals again like this. This isn't to say if they did the same trade with Kyrie, I'd feel absolutely the same. With Kyrie, Luka, and Klay they are essentially redundant. With AD they have a more permanent interior protection. Although I thought that was what Porzingas was for.
All that said, this year, next year, maybe one more. That it, unless they turn around and deal AD and Kyrie for some other younger player in a few years. That's if there is anything to deal.

For the Lakers. Do you really turn down Luka? They now have a future. I expect LeBron to be dealt to GS within days.

I've heard most of the theories, and know that the Mavs GM was a close family friend of the James family, going as far as to call him "Bronny's Uncle". But what I don't get is what does Mavs Ownership get out of this deal? Nobody's going to Mavs games anymore, they're currently too good to tank (although if they blow it up I all but guarantee they land the #1 pick), and while Cooper Flagg looks good, he's nowhere near a Luka level prospect.

There has to be some kind of payout outside of the league, maybe Nike will invest billions of dollars into their Casinos, maybe the league will cover all legal costs to get out of their lease early (which expires in 2031) to move the team to Vegas? There has to be SOME incentive on part of the Mavs to make this move.

Regardless, I think the NBA's Dam of Legitimacy just burst wide open, if LeBron James and Anthony Davis winning a title as Lakers didn't stop the decline in ratings, what will?

Referring to NASCAR Youtuber's Slapshoes' video of the same name, and how dumb gimmicks and obvious interventions on the part of the NASCAR ended up killing the sport, because nobody believes it's real anymore.

The NBA is an absolute circus.

My theory is that LeGM has brought Luka onto the team to take over his role as "I want the ball in my hands literally all the time" guy. LeBron will retire after this season. Eventually he will work towards either being the actual GM of the Lakers or maybe even owning the team.

I could see him as a GM, not really an owner though
