Luka Doughcic out for the rest of the season. It's unironically over.

Looks like Nicobros win again kek. Imagine being Luka, lost his team, city, wife, kids, MVP and now his season.

I claimed that Dallas won this trade the moment it happened. I may end up being right, just not at all in the way that I predicted. If The Great White Hope of New England can bring a chip to Dallas before Fatty can to Minneapolis Los Angeles, I'll come out looking like a clairvoyant.

How does Luka get hurt so much despite having the most unathletic game of all time? You would expect him to get hurt at a similar rate to Jokic - basically never. And he is like 5 years younger than Jokic as well.
He probably just has worse durability. It happens even with great athletes. They is only so much conditioning and improvement that you can do to your body before it tells you to suck it.

Dallas won the trade the second the league rigged the draft to go in their favor. I look forward to seeing what their draft position is this year because that will really determine if they come out ahead here.

Yup, sports league will tolerate borderline criminal behavior if you are good enough. But when you are glorified role player for a mediocre org they will easily cut you to not just deal with the ensuing bullshit.
It's not just sports leagues. If you're a moneymaker for your employer they'll sweep up anything short of murder to keep you making money. Every industry you care to name is full of high earners with DUIs, domestic violence charges, and associated drama.

I don't envy the year he's had. The gossip out of Slovenia is that things are VERY messy with his ex.

You should post it
A lot of it is standard NBA player monkeyshines with cheating, hos, drinking, eating shitty food, partying in both the US and EU. Imagine a white and mildly less injury prone Zion Williamson. The biggest rumor was that he was hooking up with Serbian pop singer named Breskvica throughout the second pregnancy, though this might just be the Serbian internet on their bullshit as always -- every EU internet discussion of Luka will inevitably be shat up by frothing Serbian nationalists claiming him as a true pure blooded Serb only interested in other Serbs etc.

The ex Anamaria is pretty normal, lowkey and family-oriented as far as NBA WAGs go. From a wealthy family with supportive parents. She found out she was pregnant at around the same time as the trade and reeeeeeeally didn't want to go to LA where she knew Luka would have far more access to his "issues" than he did in Dallas. They more or less separated after that, she never lived in LA with him. He's apparently a bit of a manchild and she doesn't trust that he can provide a safe household for the little girls on his own and is only interested in co-parenting in Slovenia (where he lives during the off-season anyway).

In the bigger picture, Anamaria and Luka's mother don't get along and Luka's own immediate family situation is a mess (parents only communicate through him, his mother and her boyfriend spend a ton of his money, his shitheel deadbeat Serbian father only became interested in him when his basketball prowess became apparent, etc.)

I mean he got the top divorce lawyer guy in LA so you know this shit is probably going to get very ugly very quickly if it hasn't already.
He's worth hundreds of millions of dollars and this is a high profile international custody case, he would be absolutely DSP tier retarded to not get the best of the best.

Never change, Eastern Europe.

Well we should have seen that the way he bitches to the refs.
Yep, and don't forget the pissbaby bitchfit he threw at Goga Bitadze over shitslinging that *he* started.

Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks, in a shocking victory, beat LeBron James and the lukaless Lakers. Cooper Flagg also became the first rookie since Allen Iverson to score 40 points in back-to-back games. I didn't bother to tune in to the Mavericks game; I didn't even know they were playing today and assumed we would lose, but instead Cooper Flagg made a compelling case for rookie of the year and upset LeBron James. I think this Mavericks team will be great next year.

Cooper Flagg really is a generational prospect overshadowed by the Luka trade and Wemby also being another generational prospect that is beginning to pan out. This guy is the clear RoTY he just happens to be an a Mavs team that is tanking at the moment.

How do you even stop such a shameful display in this day and age with a weak commissioner? Post play and defense was boring? So this was the answer? To just allow players to have a free range shooting contest night in and night out? Fucking mega oof, bro. The NBA is in the doldrums. Let's blame league pass and some other outside force for a terrible on court product though.

There is this faggot on YouTube gobbling the modern game's cock saying that the offense of the game is just too complex now.

Sure, now that every team has all their guards, forwards and centers either slashing for a pick and roll to the basket or camping in the goddamn three point line, and whatever team has the most talent for that, wins.

You wanna see complex offense, watch the 1994 Rockets with their perimeter cutting, or the 2013 Heat with their 3 slashing rollers at all times, or the 2014 Spurs with their beautiful game. Fuck, as much as they accuse the triangle offense of being stale in the modern era, the 90's Bulls insane workrate and offensive awareness for extra passes was precisely the thing that hid Jordan and Pippen so well in the offense, and maintained the scoring threat of all 5 players on the court, regardless of the level of individual talent.

Now everybody just plays the fucking polygonal offense of the 2015 Warriors without considering the strengths or weaknesses of their personnel.

But, like Charles Barkley says: "... Three minutes to another 3 point shooting contest."

Spurs and Denver are playing some awesome offense, though.

Yeah, setting a half-assed pick at halfcourt while the inbound recipient brings the ball up to take a 3 while being guarded with 17 seconds left on the clock really gets the opposing coach's noggin joggin as to how to stop a haphazard low percentage shot. Maybe my pea brain just can't comprehend such otherworldly tactics in the modern NBA. Maybe next he can break down how ethereal foul baiting is.

This asshole has been at it for years, he has had videos uploaded to the NBA's official channel so I think he has some sort of agreement with them by which he tries to gaslight his viewers into believing that modern NBA is "as good as it has ever been", "the league has more talent now than ever", etc. etc.

Let's be honest, sport in general is not complex. These people are just trying to justify the ridiculous amount of time and attention they have dedicated to it.

I think this has to do with a decline in coaching along with the new CBA making roster moves hard for teams that are all in.

If you're a GM you're gonna go out and get 3&D players even if they're pretty bad because they'll fit into any lineup, and then of course coaches are going to sort of gravitate to 5-out. Otherwise you end up like the Rockets where you have a talented roster with just...a lot of players that can't be on the floor at the same time because it kills the offense.
