The NBA Thread

Steve Urkel looking ass CJ McCollum
Glad I'm not the only person that thought this. He used to have a high top fade too.

Motherfucker getting his hair cut in GTA: San Andreas or something.

Nuggets eliminated in the first round, is this the most disappointing team of the year? Their strongest roster on paper since the championship year and got their arse handed to them by the fricking Minnesota Timberwolves without Anthony Edwards.
More embarrassing is the fact they were getting cooked by a 3rd string SG and Jaden McDaniels dropping a career high after calling them bitch made. It's really crazy considering how the Nuggets fought to be the 3rd seed, probably to dodge the Thunder until the WCF just to get fucking obliterated in the first round in embarrassing fashion. They could be sweeping the Rockets rn and going onto a respectable 6-7 game series against the Thunder.

Yeah dunno where Denver goes from here. They have few assets and the new CBA makes it difficult to make impactful roster moves. Their awful contracts don't help either.

They're probably just looking at five years of playoff exits until Jokic says fuck it and retires to go play with his horsies.

Calvin Booth is a fuckin retard. CB is untradeable and his 125 million extension kicks in after this season. Murray also continues to be an overpaid inconsistent All-Star. on top of probably losing the one young player with any upside in Watson. The only way out is Jokic asking for a trade, I know people meme that he doesn't care but seeing how passioned he can get during the playooffs shows me he is just as competitive as any superstar. He doesn't need to jump ship to the Lakers or something but almost any other situation would be more tenable than this shitshow.

I think Jokic feels more of a sense of loyalty to the franchise than most superstars would just because the team took a chance on him. The idea of a 2nd round pick becoming a 3-time MVP, being a perennial candidate for the award, and who will retire as the career record holder in triple doubles ,as a fucking center, no less, is one of the weirdest player arcs in NBA history. He's said he doesn't want to leave, but if he wants another ring before he retires he's really going to have to jump ship after next season.

He needs one more ring to really take his place amongst the truly greatest to ever play, but he's not going to do it in Denver. Murray is too inconsistent, Gordon's explosive play style finally caught up to him, and there aren't any more pieces that can be brought in. Right now, he's following the same career path as Moses Malone, Dirk Nowitzki and Giannis--incredible players whose team had one season where the stars inexplicably lined up and allowed them to get a championship, but they never got close again after that.

I find it really funny that their last regular season win against the Spurs created a chain of events that ended up fucking them over.

Moses Malone is probably the best comparison, weirdly, to Jokic. Does that mean that in 20-30 years, people will kind of forget how good he was?

Honestly I think it'd be mutually beneficial if they parted ways and they could trade him for a ton of assets. Maybe something like Jokic to Spurs and Fox to Nets for picks.

Fans would be pissed but there's no way this group is going anywhere. The Murray and MPJ contracts were the start of a very slow death by bleeding out.

Jokic is much more anomalous as a straight up Point Center. Moses was really good but he was playing in a very stacked position between several other generational centers like Hakeem, Kareem, David Robinson & Shaq. I think the uniques of Joker puts him in Hakeem tier where he is either slightly overrated or underrated depending on who you talked to. Hakeem also had a finals run where he carried a very mid team to a chip like Joker did.

As great as Hakeem was, and he was awesome, his championships should also really have an asterisk by them because of Jordan going to play baseball for those two seasons. Fully agree, though, that Jokic will likely be in that tier of being right on the cusp of the very best ever, but not quite enough to get over the hump, and people endlessly arguing on where he specifically belongs. If he didn't have such an unusual skill set, the debate over him wouldn't be so wildly variant as to where he stacks up against guys like Shaq or Bird or Magic.
