All I know is new mutants is probably second only to dark Phoenix and "it should be x women deal with it." Line that made everyone cringe so hard it instantly made the movie bust as worse moment of the 20 year running X-Men movies. Inability to decide what genre or tone it is, making a character lesbian for the sake of lqbt representation, reshoot ls and countless pushback. At least we can finally put this God forsaken franchise to bed

These are the same people who bitched about an Egyptian playing... an Egyptian, because he didn't fit their idea of what an Egyptian looks like. They don't have any historical context, and they believe that if it's Africa, they have to be comically black.

Its hysterical, a lot of Egyptians look white, but its really a mixed country. I know a lot of Egyptians and they vary from white to completely black. Its a very broad range of people. I always laughed at that, because to me they were hilariously racist and had no idea how diverse Egypt as a country really is.
 
Usually, casting is the least of these films' problems. Like when people talked about Michael B. Jordan being the Human Torch in the recent Fant4stic film, only for the film to be utter corporate fuckery.

Or when people bitched about Motoko Kusanagi being played by Scarlett Johansson in Ghost in the Shell, only for the live-action film to be very much inferior to the animated one.

Was that from the Gods of Egypt movie? I read that critics saw the late Chadwick Boseman playing a supporting role of the Egyptian god Thoth as an example of the "magical negro" trope.

Nah, I forget which film it is now, and my hunt for the film is turning up nothing. I remember it happening because there was a thread here if I remember right. It could also be the Algerian woman who wasn't black enough for the woketards as well.

My favourite example of this is the fuss surrounding that Hellboy character. Can't have a white guy playing the chink, so just slap a Korean into the role. Nobody will notice.

Similar to how Wakanda is full of American actors. Black folk are completely interchangeable when you give them leopard print trousers.

Basically, Egyptian people exist in a spectrum from "genetically Coptic" to "genetically Nubian" and everything in between. It's absurd that there's so much autism about the "race" of the Egyptians.
