The (New) Twilight Zone - Surprise: Its shit

I've only seen the first episode because it was free on YouTube. I went with lowered expectations and was still very disappointed. It just dragged. Normally I try to give a show more than one episode before dropping it, but this wasn't worth pirating. Shame, because the original Twilight Zone is one of my favorite series. The only reason I remember this and that it's getting a second season is because I keep seeing Jordan Peele's Rod Serling cosplaying ass in Facebook ads for CBS All Access. Even then, it's only for a second before my memory of it is spirited away back into the Twilight Zone. It's that forgettable.

The new season is out and from what I hear on /tv/, they toned down the politics a little.

But not by much.
I'm watching it right now, on the 4th episode. It's at least 100 times better than the first season so far.

Edit: Up to episode 7 and it's the worst episode so far and the first episode being the best.

If I recall correctly, there was a 1980s remake which was pretty good. They just directly remade each episode though.
You’re half right, half pulling things out of your ass.

The 1980s series was almost entirely new episodes, with only a few remakes, and was very good to excellent. Look for the episode The Shadow Man.

As for the question as to wether Jordan Peele might come up with better material if he wasn’t working under the umbrella of a well-known series name, I think he’d have to dig his head out of his colon first. The guy just spews woke idiocy 24/7 these days.

It makes you wonder where the hilarious, smart, politically incorrect guy who was half of Key and Peele went.

You're likely right. I haven't watched those episodes since I was a kid, and about the only one I remember well was the monster on the wing of the plane. They kept that one pretty true to the source material best I recall.

Nightmare at 30,000 feet was remade as a segment of Twilight Zone: The Movie, not in the series.

I'm glad I got the original series on physical media because you just know any streaming services (and probably the SyFy channel) won't show certain episodes. Not just the episode with George Takei that did not air on television until 2016 (52 years after its first broadcast) but I'm sure "Still Valley" will be censored. The whole episode would not sit well for the woke crowd but that final act would make their heads explode.
