And we retained the staff that hasn't drafted correctly since the early 2010's, so...
Just trying to be optimistic lol

Watson will not be facing criminal charges. Time to grab the popcorn and see where this goes.

Also nice of Washington to take themselves out of this race by getting Wentz

So this is all but a guarantee when Schefter inevitably tweets about the details of the Watson trade, they're going to be accurate?
He and Rappoport are both utter scoop whores, but Rap seems to do a marginally better job picking better targets than Schefter, who will say what anyone wants him to if it means he gets first dibs.

Well shit, that’s all messed up - I thought at first it was just some #MeToo shit with gold diggers since Watson always seemed straighter laced than my boss. But then 20+ women made me think there was some fire with that smoke. Now no charges? Perhaps he just a sped.

It's a grand jury indictment, which is only an evaluation of how prosecutable the case is.
Rape/sexual assault/whatever the misdemeanor name for begging masseuses to finger your bunghole is charges are notoriously he-said, she-said, and unless any of the women had explicit evidence of him demanding extra services over text/video, it was always going to be difficult to prosecute criminally. He even has a decent change of beating civil charges because of how much a sideshow the lawyer representing all the women made out of the lawsuit, and because, IIRC, he's already privately settled with a few accusers.
Really interested to see what response the NFL has now, since most teams want to hear about it before a trade (people who thought trade news would come out today are insane), but also because they've suspended players for way more games on way less sketchy non-charges. Ezekiel Elliot comes to mind.

Yeah I know. But this has been a weird wild ride given that he got publicly angry at the Texans, then there was a weird masseuse accusation and then 20+ of them. And now a grand jury said fuck it. The whole thing’s bizarre and I have no idea what’s going on except to assume he’s an awkward autist.

I gotta be honest, my main reason to not think this is a conspiracy on the part of Texans ownership is that they'd have to pull it off in the roughly 4 months between when he signed a massive contract extension and when he started publicly voicing his displeasure with the team (ok maybe a bit longer, he was visibly annoyed during the last 2 games BOB was still their coach). Cal McNair certainly isn't capable of that, and Easterby even then was a glorified youth pastor.

I agree with that, but the whole timing thing from random masseuse to utter vilification to a grand jury saying “no need” is the mindfuck for me.

Ive been poor all my life, so Ive never had a professional masseuse, but if I did, and she was hot, yeah, I'd hit on her.

The legal argument is, did he just proposition them, or sexually assault them? The grand jury today apparently decided on the former. Remember, a grand jury is there for the purpose of criminal charges, not civil ones. So he may still be sued in a civil court. But the NFL's disinciplary programs views civil suits differently then legal charges. And so do many teams.

So looks like Deshaun Thotson is playin in 2023.

I have dealt with enough bullshit Rodgers rumors this offseason to justify going crazy with Deshaun Watson rumors so here we go
Teams interested in Watson and what they are offering (as referenced by CBS Bullshit article here)

Browns- 1st and 2nd round picks this year and next, 6th round this year, Mayfield, Kareem Hunt, and Njoku

Bucs- 1st round pick this year, next, and 2024, conditional fifth round next year, and Devin White

Eagles- 2 first round pics, 3rd, and 5th this year, 2nd round next year, Hurts, and Fletcher Cox

Panthers- 1st and 5th this year, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd next year, McCaffrey, and Darnold

Saints- 1st and 2nd this year and next, 4th this year, Davenport, and Roby

Seahawks- 1st, two 2nd, and a 4th this year, and a 1st and 2nd round next year

Vikings- 1st and 2nd this year, 1st and 3rd next year, and Hunter

Not sure if these are legit but that's what was reported. Also not sure which trade deal I would take

I'm rooting for the Vikings deal, if only because
  1. Fuck the Vikings
  2. Watching the Kirk Jerks and the Watson fanbois go at it would be glorious.

I don't see the Vikings deal happening though. Browns, Panthers, and Saints look like they are offering way more than the next group. Vikings and the Bucs are offering the least amount tbh

Brady is already coming out of retirement to return to the Buccaneers :story:

These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa. Unfinished business LFG

Hell yeah, LFG indeed. Suuuuuuuuck it again, Brady haters.

GUESS WHO'S BACK
BACK AGAIN
BRADY'S BACK
FUCK FRIENDS, TELL GRONK SO HE'LL STOP THIRSTING OVER BURROW

Keep in mind Watson has a no-trade clause that he has to waive for any movement to happen. Browns are a maybe, but are on track to lose their two best receivers if Landry walks alongside Beckham, the Saints are rocking an unproven, internally promoted coach and the Panthers are a fucking tire fire.

Watson wants to leave the Texans though. And the Texans are probably the biggest dumpster fire in the league now that Urban Meyer is out.

The Bucs would have been a good spot to land but that deal is over. I think the Saints are honestly the best place to end up out of all those teams. They have a really good defense in place already and just needed a QB to not suck ass in order to get in the playoffs. Watson could make them a really good team in the NFC South that could maybe even win the conference

The Saints definitely have the best chance of those three, but I can see him strong-arming the Texans to trade for less with a team he has confidence in, the same way Russ worked over our front office in lieu of sending him to the Commanders or Eagles for 3 firsts and then some.
Which may very well be the Seahawks, if pervasive rumors are right.

EDIT: The Vikings just extended Cousins' contract for the next year, poor Colts, their options are getting thinner and thinner.
