Baker Mayfield definitely cried after he lost to a washed Ben Roethlisberger, it was pretty funny
Browns did what they did best- kill themselves with penalties. Yesterday both the defense and offense showed up, but still too many flags. And no one's going to miss OBJ.

So what's the deal with Kansas City this year? Aiken and Buck couldn't shut up about how bad Love was playing (and he was, but first game and all that) but Mahomes didn't look much better.

Basically Mahomes is buying into his own hype a bit too much, and his previously high amount of near-INTs has turned into actual INTs now that teams have plenty of tape on him. It doesn't help that both of his primary targets are regressing and the free agent OL signings aren't living up to their paycheck.

I can't figure out Andy Reid. One game he'll look like Napoleon crossed with Vince Lombardi, the next week you'd think he doesn't remember to wipe after he poops.

One theory I either heard on sports talk radio or read somewhere on line is that KC can't really afford to bring in talented players at this point, that between Mahomes and maybe Kelce they're banging up against the cap hard. No clue how true that is, but you don't hear about KC's ownership doing weird financial tap dances like the Patriots (meaning Kraft) were able to do with Brady to put winning teams on the field.

fml..............the jags ug
C'mon, Josh Allen being intercepted by Josh Allen and Josh Allen being sacked by Josh Allen will never not be funny.

The Bills were my pre-seaon pick to win the AFC, maybe the Superbowl. Yet the 5-4 Patriots are now at least in a theoretical position to snatch the Division title from the Bills. Probably won't happen for a bunch of reasons, but in September I'd have thought the Bills would have had the Division sewn up as a practical matter by now.

Kraft tapdancing with Brady was part of it, but really the reason the Patriots were able to manage the cap space so effectively is Bill could routinely coach guys on a cheap contract into stars. I mean, the man managed to go 7-9 with absolutely zero receiving talent, most of his defensive stars out for the season, and the corpse of Cam Newton as his QB. Reid is an offensive genius, sure, but he is way more dependent on his front office finding existing talent than coaching more middling guys up.

I took a cursory glance at Over the Cap and the Chiefs are pretty in the middle in terms of cap space for the next two seasons. Mahomes' contract doesn't start buttfucking them until 2023, and by then I expect Kelce will be retired. Another theory I heard floated around in sports radio is that Reid lost a lot of respect with the locker room over the whole incident with his son last winter, which is part of why they were such a mess in the Super Bowl and why they haven't really been able to bounce back.

Things keep getting dumber for the Raiders. They've now waived 2020 first round pick (drafted 7 spots after Henry Ruggs) and cornerback Damon Arnette after a video came of him waving around a gun and threatening to kill someone.

That Chief Keef hairstyle from 2015 has done irreparable damage to young black men that tell on themselves threatening people on social media live-streaming their guns all over the place.

I think Rotoworld's analysis is pretty spot on from what I've seen.

TL;DR - Teams are now keeping 2 safeties deep/high so that Mahomes can't just bomb it to Tyreke all the time, and the Chiefs don't have an consistent answer for it yet.

I got this from NFL Memes.

The 2020 NFL draft was only 19 months ago, and the Raiders have already cut three players, traded one to Miami, and benched two more.

This is their entire 2020 draft; they had no picks in Rounds 2, 5, 6 or 7.

I'm amazed they managed to out-do their 2007 draft, which was already one of the worst for any NFL team, ever.
For the uninitiated, JaMarcus Russel wasn't the only bust for the Raiders that year. I think only 1 guy played more than two seasons for the team. None played more than 3.

Nah, they at least had Zach Miller. Played four seasons with them, pretty decent numbers for a TE, went to one Pro Bowl as an alternate, then signed with Seattle and won a Super Bowl. Everyone else sucked though.

Fun, but slightly off topic fact. I have a friend who's an NY Giants fan. He's still not sold on Danny Dimes, but when you look at that draft, the Giants really did get the best QB in the draft after Kyler Murray. Hell, remember when people ripped the Giants for not taking Haskins?

I wonder if someone has the job to take these new guys aside and say, "Look, we know there are expectations of behavior for macho young black men, but if you can just play whitey's game for a while and stay presentable enough to stay on the team and be on magazine covers and Wheaties boxes and underwear and deodorant commercials, you'll be set for life and you can dab on the haters as you drive by in a different Lambo for each day of the week."

Some guys like Patrick Mahomes seem to have got this message; this clown and Ruggs clearly did not.

What happened with his son? I'm surprised I didn't hear about that.

On tap for tonight--Bears and Steelers. I think it'll be a coin flip.

Another thing with Mahomes is just all the incredibly shit throws he's trying to force, thus turning into turnovers. He's always had a tendency to somewhat force things opposed to most other quarterbacks but a lot of the interceptions he's thrown this year could have easily been avoided if he just either threw the ball out of bounds or took a sack.

I do like the fact that the NFL fined Aaron Rodgers $14K like that's supposed to matter (he's making $33M this year).

Why not ignore all league COVID policies and pay your fines and be good with it? I know realistically the NFL would start fining players much more, but it's still funny.

Wow, the Panthers are planning to resign Cam Newton.

Sam Darnold is so fucking bad they want to start a man that made throwing a pass more than 7 yards look like a Herculean feat. Sam's bust status has officially been confirmed at this point.

I forgot he injured his shoulder, I didn't realize he would be out for that long. It'll be interesting to see how this one works out, I don't expect either one to be around at the end of the season (unless they make Sam a backup QB).
