Green Bay and 38 year old quarterback Aaron Rodgers have come to an agreement for a 4-year, $200 million contract extension. $153 million of that is guaranteed money.
If they win a super bowl, it's a good extension. If he flames out in consecutive NFC championship games again, Packers just got fleeced.
Where's Jordan Love getting dealt this offseason? I expect either Broncos or Panthers

There are very few people on the planet who can play QB at an elite level. And one of them is half retired. It is still technically Green Bay's window so they had to do this deal. I suspect Love either leaves or is planted right next to Rodgers to motivate him to be MVP for at least 2 of the next 4 years

Huge breaking news:

Seattle has reportedly agreed to trade Russell Wilson to Denver pending Wilson's approval and a successful physical.

Trade details (I'll update the years for the picks when I know those details)
To Broncos:
  • QB - Russell Wilson
  • pick - 4th round
To Seahawks:
  • QB - Drew Lock (42nd overall pick in 2019)
  • TE - Noah Fant (20th overall pick in 2019)
  • DE - Shelby Harris (6 sacks each in 2019 and 2021)
  • pick - 1st round
  • pick - 1st round
  • pick - 2nd round
  • pick - 2nd round
  • pick - 5th round

Edit/update: Mike Williams has re-signed with the Chargers for $60 million over three seasons.

FUCK
If Pete doesn't announce his retirement soon, I'm watching the Chargers next season, fuck this.
EDIT: And apparently we're getting Lock as part of the trade? Fade me, this is fucking atrocious. Our FO needs to lay off the peyote.

Broncos: Russell Wilson and a 4th rounder

Seattle: Drew Lock, Shelby Harris, Noah Fant, 2 first rounders, 2 second rounders, and a fifth round pick

Don't know how I feel about the trade. Broncos definitely pushing for something right now and I think Seattle is trying to rebuild. They are just so weirdly built and their division is stacked right now. I think they wait for Arizona to fuck it up with Murray in a year or 2 and the Rams tight window to shut before going all out again.

There's no point starting a rebuild with an ancient coach and a guy who has sucked at talent evaluation and trades for 5+ years now. And if we were going to force a regime change, the time to do it would've been in early January when all the best coaching talent was available. Unless Jody's gearing up to sell the team I have absolutely no idea what this move accomplishes beyond putting the team in purgatory for the next few seasons while Schneider and Carroll tapdance on the hot seat and engage in ever-more-desperate moves to save their jobs.

Give me the top hats, because I am Mad on the Internet this morning.

I know the guy struggles to stay healthy but I don't how I feel about giving away Fant along with 2 first rounders and 2 second rounders for a QB that feels like he might be on the tail end of his prime.

Maybe Carroll wants to do another rebuild. Might decide to just plan for a really good defense in 2-3 years like he did before and have one last shot at it? I guess I can be optimistic because I could give a shit about Seattle

They won with Peyton on his last legs. They just need someone who won't suck complete ass when they need to win

Have fun with him. Just be prepared for him to take embarrassing sacks and regularly chuck moon balls into double coverage rather than throw to a slot WR or TE wide open 15 yards ahead of him.

Was really hoping Seattle and Minnesota would trade QBs. I wanted DangeRuss. And now we have to deal with Stupid Sexy Rodgers for another 4 years.

We've still got 8 days to go before the start of the league year, and we already had two major QB developments in one day.

Hold on to your butts!

If it's any consolation, Rodgers used his hand puppet Pat McAfee to say that the contract details beyond him just re-signing are completely wrong, so you may only have two years to deal with him.

You really think Rodgers will play out his 4 years on that contract? That 4 year deal is just an indication that he is most likely finishing his career with the packers. He won't be playing when he is 42

I don't, which is why I said it may very well not be a 4 year contract, and he retires once the Lastest Dance is well and truly over.

ahh misread, sorry. Yeah this basically indicates Rodgers is there to stay.

Also with the amount Denver gave up to get Russell, I can't imagine the load of picks and players the Packers would have gotten from Denver for Rodgers. And I can't imagine who that second team would be to trade for Russell. I think Washington offered more but Russell turned them down. That would have been a wild ride.

Watson legal issues should be more clear by Friday. I think thats the next big QB piece we are waiting on

>sees Russell Wilson going to Denver

And here I thought Russell was going to be a lifelong Seahawk. This is unexpected.

Imagine Seattle turns around and trades those 1st rounders for another QB and releases Lock lol.

Although this almost certainly indicates they will be taking a QB in the draft. The 2022 1st rounder the Broncos sent them is the 9th overall, right? Not too damn shabby at all.
