I'm sorry, but did Damar Hamlin already die? Oh, that's right. The operation isn't even over yet. In fact, it's only critial condition. Does not having a pulse at halftime count as a death? Is that what you're saying? Because if you're saying that I can assure you that you're wrong. Why would you make this topic when the game is still on? Damar Hamlin is still living right now and he is up to date on his COVID boosters for many years now? He took one of the worst hits in the NFL who just happen to collapse because he was feeling a bit light headed. But you know what? They still fucking fine. Damar Hamlin is one of the best safeties in the NFL, the bills went 12-3 last year and would of won the Super Bowl if the quaterback didn't choke. Maybe you should shut the fuck up before you make retarded topics like this. You know why? Because you're going to be embarrassed when Damar Hamlin lives and someone bumps this topic. Oh look at that, the doctors just stepped out of the operating room. Are you a fucking drunk? Are you retarded? Are you autistic? You are a fucking idiot and you should never make a topic on this board again and I'm fucking serious. I almost have a feeling you're the only guy making all these anti- Damar Hamlin topics because you're a faggot hater who doesn't like the man because he'e good. Fuck you, be good at something in YOUR life and then maybe try to troll these fucking teams on the board, like I give a fuck. It's so easy to spot out your threads now, you're a retard. Always doing stupid shit like this. Why don't you try to be a good poster? Just for once? For once in your fucking life try not to make a topic like this. That's just you, you're always right at getting it wrong. Fuck you. You are nothing.

That is probably what happened, but if the people saying they gave him CPR for 10 minutes are right, he isn't among the living. I refuse to believe there wasn't an AED somewhere on the sidelines.
You'd be surprised how long CPR takes, it ain't like the movies, you got to make sure a person is stabilized. Knowing the announcers, they don't know the ins-and-outs of this stuff so everything looks like CPR to them.

I don't understand medical facts at all but why were they giving hip CPR for almost 10 minutes. A few I can understand but 10? He's lying on the ground dying while they try the same thing fruitlessly. Hope he's okay.

I couldn't really tell what was going on when it happened because of camera angles but if it was they should've got a pulse back immediately once they shocked him. That doesn't really jive with 9 minutes of CPR.
See my last post, it takes time to stabilize someone, not all of that is CPR.

That was horrifying to watch and I hope this young man is okay. Hug your loved ones and your pets tonight. You never ever know if it could be your last chance. Jah bless.

I watched this again a few times. The first guy who seems to notice something is wrong is #30 on the Bills, Dane Jackson, at the top of the screen. He was teammates with Hamlin at the University of Pittsburgh from 2016-2019 before both were drafted by the Bills (Hamlin in 2021, and Jackson the year before him.)

Damar Hamlin for the Bills has been on the ground near mid-field for about 10 minutes now after a hit. He tackled Tee Higgins, got up kind of wobbly and then fell straight back like he was knocked out cold. They're giving him CPR at the moment.
Looks like a freak thing where Boyd's shoulder nails him right in the heart area.

From the way that I looked at the replay and tackle, it could have been seen as a concussion gone awry. If anything, it’s pretty telling that ESPN would even televise the replay while trying to have the commentators scramble to say something about the play while the network continues to replay it for the second time.

Imagine his mother right now. Came to the stadium to see her baby boy play football only to see him (likely) die in a freak accident. No parent should have to bury their child, let alone see him perish in person. I pray to God for the best but this looks mighty grim.

CPR is essentially just keeping your blood pumping throughout the body so your faculties don't get deprived of oxygen. I've heard of lifeguards giving drowning victims even thirty minutes of CPR in order to keep them in an at least somewhat stable state until paramedics arrive. If it gives them a chance of coming back and not being completely braindead, you keep doing it, as long as you possibly can until you either start the heart again or it's extremely clear that what's happening is futile and a physician (usually, since in most states in the US paramedics cannot legally declare someone dead unless they display injuries incompatible with life) declares them dead.

Yeah, but you back off the compressions if you manage to get ROSC.

I wish I could see a camera angle so I could see what the paramedics were doing instead of it cutting to players looking shocked. That'd give me more info.

Considering the fact that it was just almost two weeks ago that Shannon Sharpe legit almost went ballistic on him for claiming that he’s jealous because Tom Brady is more of an adept player at old age than he ever will be, I’m not surprised by this.

Skip most of the time makes Stephen A. Smith sound like an intellectual when trying to play the role of a contrarian.

NFL's official statement states he arrived at the hospital in critical condition.

Baring an aortic rupture, if he made it to the hospital with something resembling a heartbeat, he's probably going to live.

Update: endotracheal tube and medically induced coma according to what appears to be a legit source.

That statement was to be expected. Under no circumstances would he have been pronounced dead at the stadium for too many reasons to list. Goodell would've Weekend At Bernie'd his ass out of there himself if he had to.

What's the over-under on this guy dying? Unable to breathe on your own doesn't sound like something you bounce back from...
It happens quite often actually.

Again, it's unclear if they were giving him chest compressions or whatever. As I said, commentators are not medical experts, neither are they medics, they're journalists and a few former players, they will not know what exactly is going on.

I just want to say Kiwi Farmers can be the biggest Debby Downers/ have giant Disaster Boners. I remember when the La Palma eruption was going on and all the geologists were saying the eruption was ending (which it did) but in the thread here for it everyone was circlejerking over how "the big one" was gonna happen there and the entire eastern seaboard was gonna get wiped off the map. This stuff happens, it's rare, but it happens, and from every indication he is in bad but mainly stable condition, stop it with the "he is totally dead, it's so obvious" bullshit because he obviously isn't dead yet and he probably won't.

That first half hour looked pretty grim, its not hard to expect the worst.

Maybe we can find middle ground on a potential Zombie Damar Hamlin rising from the dead to seek revenge?
