That first half hour looked pretty grim, its not hard to expect the worst.
It did but shouldn't we as humans hope for the best? Someone who seems to really be a loving soul. That's a guy you want to say "I don't know what's going on but I hope he pulls through", not "I know he's dead".
Getting tubed isn't a great sign though. We'll see.
He's being put in a coma to keep him stable, you're gonna need to tube him for that.

and all the geologists were saying the eruption was ending (which it did) but in the thread here for it everyone was circlejerking over how "the big one" was gonna happen
The volcano got real fucking angry the first 2 times they said it. The OP was the only one that went hard for The Big One™ and he got threadbanned for it.
I'm not a medical expert but "vital signs are back to normal" can still mean "he's a braindead vegetable", right? Dude had CPR for 10 minutes and apparently was unable to breathe on his own. That lack of oxygen is a scary thought.
Pretty hard to go brain dead with EMTs right there. CPR/AED and breathing bag can keep someone alive for long time as long as they're not bleeding out(internal or external).

Alternatively; he needed the tube and you're gonna need an induced coma for that.

I think my gripe with that thread was the use of sensationalized sources so a lot of misinformation was going around. People forget how violent an eruption has to be to cause something big. Anyways no more about volcanoes.

I don't want to schizo-post here, but everyone is immediately assuming a heart-attack. Maybe it could've been an aneurysm instead or something along those lines?

Edit: Ignore me, it was a heart-attack according to official sources.

Commotio cordis is so rare it's hard to get a genuinely reliable number for survival rate. It's almost entirely dependent on how fast medical care is initiated. Here, it was almost instantly.

The official Buffalo Bills twitter provided an update

I hope they fully call off the game. None of the players, especially his poor teammates, are going to be able to properly play after this. I know I wouldn't want to play after seeing a friend and teammate possibly drop dead right in front of me. I hope he pulls through, this is absolutely awful.
In the 1920s, they dragged Ray Chapman off the field and play continued. He died less than 24 hours later. The baseball connecting with his skull sounded like it had actually hit the bat, per the crowd. Different era, I guess. 🤷‍♂️

Fun fact for future reference: aneurysms/strokes/other blood clot-related maladies almost always present with neurological symptoms first, instead of the total collapse we saw last night.
Even Teddy Bruschi, whose stroke was actually caused by a heart defect, only noticed he was having a stroke when he could barely walk and couldn't see his kid out of one of his eyes anymore. Even more central aneurysms occurring somewhere in the chest cavity are more likely to have the patient crying out in pain on the field instead of suddenly keeling over.

A tiny silver lining to this whole situation is that Damar's annual end of year toy drive charity goal was $2,500, but that goal has been surpassed and is now at over 4 million dollars. I think Damar would be overjoyed at hearing that.

Well shit got some unrelated to Damar bad news

Former Jaguars Guard, Garland-Native Uche Nwaneri Dies After Collapsing at Wife's Home

That fucking sucks hard, Uche was an awesome dude

5.8 million dollars, now. I'm genuinely impressed.
