no wonder officiating sucks. Guy says that 'fair catch' should have been a penalty when the tackler was already committed before the signal.

Yeah our check didn't clear for this half, hoping we can save it for next game.

Glad our defense showed up without that nigger alexander, Hope it fucking checks his ego.

Daily reminder that there was 2 years of straight Kick Cousins disrespect, even when the Vikings had a winning season from the Vikings fanbase. This man put up top 3 QB numbers with them one year. Without Kirk, they got 3 offensive points and basically a gimme touchdown because Packers special teams just love fucking up; this was against a Joe Barry defense that gave away season-best games to at least 5 guys including a 3rd stringer Giants QB and the Panthers' new QB. When will Minnesota admit they are nothing without this random midwestern father?

Alright, not gonna wait for the full game schedule but thought I could break down everything going into Week 18

AFC
1st Ravens (13-3)- Confirmed AFC champs
2nd Dolphins(11-5)- Confirmed in playoffs
3rd- Chiefs(10-6)- Confirmed division champs
4th- Jacksonville(9-7)
5th- Browns(11-5)- Confirmed in playoffs
6th- Bills (10-6)
7th- Colts (9-7)

In the hunt
Texans (9-7)
Steelers (9-7)

Every team that's 8-8 has been eliminated on the AFC time

NFC
1st- 49ers (12-4)- Confirmed NFC champs
2nd- Cowboys (11-5)- confirmed in playoffs
3rd- Lions (11-5)- confirmed division champs
4th- Buccaneers (8-8)
5th- Eagles (11-5)- confirmed in playoffs
6th- Rams (9-7)- confirmed in playoffs
7th- Packers (8-8)- (somehow have the tie breakers over Seattle and New Orleans)

In the hunt
Seattle (8-8)
New Orleans (8-8)
Vikings (7-9)- (somehow)
Falcons (7-9)- (somehow)

Week 18 schedule

Bears vs Packers- Matters for the packers. Win and in, and you all saw how that worked out last year

Cowboys vs Commanders- Dallas needs to win to claim number 2 and not be in the playoffs as a wildcard

Broncos vs Raiders- doesn't matter

Jaguars vs Titans- Jags need to win to claim 4th. Don't know the full tie breakers but they could be eliminated with a loss here.

Texans vs Colts- Win and in. Colts and Texans are tied with Jacksonville and the Colts are currently sitting 7th. Gotta win to hold onto it.

Bills vs Dolphins- Division title on the line here. Not sure if there's a chance for the Bills to miss the playoffs with a loss but that's another reason to actually watch this game.

Eagles vs Giants- Eagles need to win to apply pressure to the Cowboys. They are at least 5th seed

Seahawks vs Cardinals- Seahawks need some help but gotta win this one first.

Vikings vs Lions- Lions have the 3rd seed locked up and would need a few slip ups to maybe get 2nd. Vikings need to win and get a ton of help to potentially get into the playoffs.

Falcons vs Saints- Both teams need a win and it might not matter for either team in the end.

Jets vs Patriots- lol

Steelers vs Ravens- Ravens have locked up the AFC and the Steelers are still technically alive. Would assume the Steelers win here but who knows? Tomlin already got his winning record this season so he might also pack it in

Rams vs 49ers- 49ers have locked up the NFC while the Rams are in the playoffs so this one might just be a preseason style game.

Chiefs vs Chargers- Chiefs might have a chance to get up to 2nd depending on the tie breaker with the Bills but they have 3rd locked up.

Bucs vs Panthers- Panthers have given the Bears the number 1 pick and the Bucs need to win to get 4th and host the Eagles/Dallas

Browns vs Bengals- Browns are in and are 5th or 6th depending on the Bills game should they lose. Bengals are eliminated

Yeah, thanks Dolphins, just give the league even more an excuse to give Lamar the MVP award he doesn't deserve. Might as well just rename it the "QB award for the team with the most wins" at that point.
Let Lamar win the MVP, Ravens won't do shit in the playoffs cause playoff Lamar.

Remember how I said The Ride might be over for the Broncos? Yeah turns out they might be in the shits again - turns out the NFLPA took exception to the Broncos apparently demanding Russ wave some of his guarantees. The relevant part is as follows

“It has come to our attention that the Denver Broncos recently informed Mr. Wilson and his Certified Contract Advisor that if Mr. Wilson would not renegotiate his Player Contract to relinquish certain salary guarantees, the Broncos would remove him from the starting lineup.

“If the Broncos follow-through on the Club’s threat, the Club will violate, among other things, the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Mr. Wilson’s Player Contract and New York law. And, we are particularly concerned that the Broncos still intend to commit these violations under the guise of ‘coaching decisions.’

“Accordingly, we write to notify you that the NFLPA and Mr. Wilson ‘reasonably anticipate’ arbitration and/or litigation against the Broncos and the Management Council, triggering your respective obligations to preserve potentially relevant documents."

So, how long before Sean Payton gets thrown out of town as a scapegoat?

Which one of you mother fuckers doxed Dan Campbell (A)?

The doxing irks me, and being associated with nazis and weebs is one thing, but there is nothing lower than being a 'dem 'boys fan.

According to FOX Sports, Detroit's third-year head coach was an unfortunate doxxing victim on New Year's Eve. NFL Insider Jay Glazer reported Sunday, "I actually talked to Dan Campbell this morning. First of all, the first point he said was, 'Look, I have no choice to make sure my players just move on from this. We can't just continue to be angry.' What he was angry about this morning is how somebody gave his address out and sent a bunch of contractors to his house early in the morning to wake him up, so that they could fix his garage and his driveway. His front gate. Leave Dan Campbell alone, people." ]

The better question is - who the fuck would be stupid enough to try and fuck with Dan Campbell?

And if anyone IS that stupid to Fuck Around with Dan Campbell, can they be recorded when they inevitably Find Out?
Please for the love of God, no one swat Dan Campbell. Detroit might kill us all if that happens…

Sorry for the off-topic sidenote but this news flew under the radar. The USFL and the XFL had merged to form the United Football League.

The merged XFL-USFL spring football league will be known as the UFL -- the United Football League -- its partners confirmed Sunday.

Former XFL president/CEO Russ Brandon will hold the same title for the UFL, and former USFL president of football operations Daryl Johnston will lead the new league's football operations.

Further details will be announced at a later time, including the number of teams and the cities they will represent. But the UFL did confirm that its March 30 opener will be played between the leagues' 2023 champions: the Arlington Renegades (XFL) and Birmingham Stallions (USFL).

A news release listed five UFL "partners": the three XFL owners -- Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Dany Garcia and Gerry Cardinale of RedBird Capital Partners -- USFL owner Fox Sports (represented by CEO Eric Shanks) and ESPN (represented by chairman Jimmy Pitaro). Disney/ESPN was the exclusive broadcast partner of the 2023 XFL season.

I think it got leaked a while back with players posting about how their health insurance was being transferred.

Hope this one can stick around a while longer but it's probably going to be another disaster of financial mismanagement.

The problem I had with the USFL, XFL, and other spring leagues was the quality of play. I knew going in that it wasn't going to be top tier talent, but god damn those teams played like freshman squads. I do, however, think that the rule changes were interesting and made the game different. I especially liked the methods for earning points after a touchdown in the XFL and the sky judge system. Unfortunately, it just wasn't a priority to watch for me and it didn't feel like a typical football game day. I just don't know if they tried too hard or just were confused on how to make people give a shit about the product. I want to see a successful spring league, but when it goes up against a multi-billion dollar company like the NFL...what chance is there for the little guy to succeed?

It'll be worthy of it's own thread.... In lolcows not sports.

Whatever happened with the AB situation and that team?

The team AB bought? Per UTree, they were kicked out of the league after AB refused to pay his League Dues.

And I'm assuming half the team left/was leaving anyway due to AB refusing to pay anyone.
That fucking blows for the players.

IIRC a group of them are actually suing Brown because he issued chargebacks for their last few game checks.
Any players who wanted to stay in and around Albany can try to get on the Firebirds for this upcoming season, it seems the NAL wants a team in the area still, it just can't be involved with AB in any way.

True freshmen rarely see the field in college because it takes about a year to learn the system. Coincidentally this is about how long it takes a spring league to go bankrupt!

Yeah, it's a real problem. There's no time for teams to find a good coaching fit and develop players.
