I was banking on the Seahawks not having the cap to keep him. You're really killing my dream of playing for KSU and the Chiefs becoming a Lockett family tradition.
I've seen what Mahomes can do when he has actual weapons to work with and the longer we delay that from happening, the better.

Howell is going to be one of those backups that comes in and looks like prime Favre for about two quarters.
We fired Pete and Canales is coaching the Panthers now, we don't have a QB guru in-house anymore.
If anything I expect Howell to look more like Russ in taking awful sacks and generally making his line look bad. Even odds he starts the year as QB3, behind someone like Penix.

Desmond Ridder and Sam Howell have been traded to the Cardinals and Seahawks respectively.
Sitting behind Geno isn't a terrible idea, but I fail to see what Sam is really gonna do. He's a big boy, so maybe he can be an okay read-option threat? I dunno. As for linebacker, there's a few goodies in the draft, we'll probably land at least one... but I don't understand why we got rid of the best one we had...

Which is unfortunate because Canales got Baker to stop doing stupid shit and Howell needs the exact same magic.

Baker and Howell are the only two QBs I've ever seen go "ok let me just stiff arm this 360-lb DT and then I'm clear"

Pretty surprising. I thought no one would be leaving the Rams after the year they've had. Perhaps this has to do with the pay cut he was asked to take?
The pay cut was to lessen the impact of him retiring. He's got nothing left to prove.
Hate that he played for the Rams but as a young fan who thought John Randle was the hottest shit I have a soft spot for dominating undersized DTs. Curious to see if this is the year McVay goes on his John Madden arc or if he waits for Stafford to get properly old and busted before he bails too.

Yeah he had agreed to restructure his deal a few hours before retiring

Some more quarterback news:

  • Steelers traded Kenny Pickett and the 120th overall pick in the draft to Philadelphia for the 90th overall draft pick and two 7th rounders in 2025
  • Jimmy Garoppolo is signing with the Rams to back up Matthew Stafford

The Chargers' are going to have a very diffent looking offense this season.
  • Mike Williams released yesterday
  • Austin Ekeler signs in Washington
  • Keenan Allen sent to the Bears for a 4th round pick (just announced)
I will not be drafting Herbert this year. 😄

This FA season has been wild as fuck so far.

So much for the Steelah’s “having faith in Kenny and are giving him a Pro to learn behind”.

Odds they’re going to try and go all in with all the cap space Russ’s deal gives them to play with, or is Tomlin just going to drag them to mediocrity again?

This is actually pretty smart from the Steelers. Everyone thought this was the plan to have Pickett and Russ battle it out only to find out they traded him for a few draft picks. There is no telling what the Steelers are trying to do and that's a really dangerous position to be in, unlike the Bears who everyone has figured out they are trying to trade Justin Fields

According to reports, Kenny got butthurt when he didn't get the job back and had to backup Rudolph at the end of last year. Then with Wilson signing, it made him more butthurt.

So assuming how true those reports are, then it was smart to get rid of him and get as much as they could right now. Pittsburgh is still going to need a QB as they currently don't have a backup

Yeah he had a tantrum and refused to suit up. Don't need that in the locker room.

For the same reason Bears have to move Fields even if they boot him to waivers. He was dancing on the line of having a meltdown last season because of frustrations with the Bears.

I think the window of opportunity for the Bears to get a somewhat decent return on Fields has closed. They should have dealt him way before now. So Chicago has missed out, I think, on a potential highway robbery of a trade. We already know they're taking Caleb Williams, so just get rid of Fields now and stop stringing him along while you're building a decent team that he won't be using.

Maybe he should have stopped being a bitch and played better. I don't get this attitude of football players that get assmad for being relegated to backup in a position group. I never really see that mentality among professionals in other leagues. Is it culture? Is it personal outlook? I don't know, but I only see NFL players act like children when they don't get their way.
