They'd have to sit down with the NFLPA. Current CBA prohibits an 18th game from being added.

Hopefully they'd ask for another bye week as a concession. Possibly a mandatory one after playing an international game?
They'd need more than an extra bye. I fully expect if the league is desperate enough to get an 18th game before the CBA expires (2030), the NFLPA will demand the revenue split finally flips and players get the majority. Especially if Goodell pushes for 16 international games (aka a game abroad for every team) like he said in the same McAfee interview.

And with all that extra money from the TV deals for the 18th game and the absurd money they can charge for international games the owners and Goodell could push for a higher salary cap. I would expect to see a larger roster size as well to get the votes from the average union player to get that 18th game.

Honestly it'd improve the product if you just let teams keep their offseason 90-man rosters. They could get some development and maybe one them might show out.

Currently if center goes down and your backup center goes down it's like good luck.

In lieu of expanding the roster, there have been talks of expanding the number of teams to an even 40 (eight teams over the current number). That would allow space for more players who'd otherwise not get development or ever start on a team to get a chance to shine.

It also might allow Goodell to finally get his international teams by just putting four European teams in one four team division, so that they spend half their season playing each other, thus cutting down on the issues that could potentially come with excess traveling for overseas teams.

Truly international-based teams will not be feasible. You'd need a hub where those teams could practice for their "away" games in the US and they would have to still deal with constant jet lag throughout the year. The most feasible "foreign teams" would be a couple of cities in Canada and maybe Mexico City. Overseas franchises present a lot of challenges for the league and not to mention players have said that they DO NOT enjoy going overseas for games.
However, the only feasible model that COULD and HAS worked for overseas games is giving current franchises a secondary home overseas. For example, the Jaguars have effectively made London a second home for them. I hope the other NFL franchises take advantage of this. Franchises effectively make these overseas destinations their home away from home. Most London-based NFL fans will say they root for the Jags since again they spent a lot of time in London. Germany has a lot of Steelers and Lions fans. It would make a lot of sense for both franchises to effectively volunteer to head to those stadiums and make an effort to touch base with their genuine grassroots foreign fan base. This way. There are plenty of franchises that will go to these destinations without needing to make new teams that would struggle to build a fanbase since again.....most fans overseas already have a team to root for. Placing a new franchise with players who never grew up in those countries and cultures presents challenges. Case in point look at the Overwatch League with its 90% Korean-based player base.

Huh - apparently we missed Antonio Brown declaring bankruptcy. That or I haven’t been in the Thunderdome for a few days and missed it, either or.

Considering AB’s antics over the years - between throwing furniture from a 14th storey hotel room, everything involving the Albany Empire, and much more - , I’m surprised there’s still people bitching online about Butker - guys a saint in comparison, pardon the pun. Right, AB gets a pass for skin colour reasons…

All that Antonio Brown did was act like a dangerous schizo. Butker actually fucked up: he pissed off women on Twitter and Taylor Swift fans.

The fact that irl Sneed is a good, Christian family man is hilarious, especially given that he's black and statistically had to fight against the current of niggerdry/crab bucket mentality. May the Lord keep and bless Sneed.
I try to get into sportsball but all I managed was to occasionally boot up Madden.

Maybe Sneed is What I Need. A specific sports mandingo to follow. If John Urschel (I read his memoir) was still playing I'd root for him.

AB gets a pass because he's fucking insane and always has been.
Yeah, another sportsball athlete doing nutty crap and getting into constant financial drama between his baby mamas and new ventures is old news.
However, a kicker telling women graduating from a conservative Catholic college to remember raising children is God's greatest gift (something he also said to the men but that always gets left out of the outrage articles) offends the philosophical worldview of journos and strikes terminally online eggless wine aunts to their core. So that becomes banner news, not because of the target's skin color, but because of who caused greater offense.

Catholic man says Catholic things. I'm glad the NFL clarified that they don't agree with him though...because I guess some people might get confused and think that KC's kicker is the official NFL spokesperson?

Rest in peace Larry Allen. Greatest offensive lineman of all time.

My rankings for the new uniforms going into the 2024 NFL Season.

#6: Denver Broncos

The Nike Executive who designed these should be shot. They copied the shoulder bolt from the Chargers, which is supposed to look like a mountain (it doesn't). They have a million triangles on their jersey which is supposed to reference the mountains, as if playing in Denver wasn't obvious enough. The Navy jerseys are still in use which I've never been a fan of, at least they have Orange as the primary jersey. I also hate when teams have a million pants and jersey combinations. There should be a Home set, and Road set, and an alternate. The only Jersey saving this is the home throwback which is not in the picture. But it's only a home throwback so it won't be seen too many times a year. For most of the year, you will be seeing these abominations. I fully expect Denver to release new uniforms in 5 years, which is the minimum amount of time they have to wait.

#5: Houston Texans

The home and away jerseys look very similar to the jerseys before the redesign which always looked good. The Color Rush, and Battle Red are hideous though. I'll never understand why teams like playing in a single color jersey and pants combination, it looks bad. The only exception is white on white but even then, it's not always the best looking. The pants need to be a different color to break up the uniform. The battle red helmet has horns on it, which could have been put on the helmets for all the uniforms. A missed opportunity. The color rush is ugly with so many bright colors on it. I know they were screwed by the amount of blue they could use since the former Houston Oilers still have the rights to the jersey and go after people if the jersey looks too much like the Oilers. It still doesn't change the fact that the jersey is ugly.

#4: Minnesota Vikings

As an alternate, it is a good look. For the past 2 seasons, the Vikings have been wearing white on white uniforms at home around Christmas, so this new alternate will do the job better. The VIKINGS on the front of the jersey is written in a Silver color which will be hard to see on a white jersey. It should have been removed.

#3: NY Giants

People I've seen online are trying really hard to get outraged over a 100 year old throwback. The Giants will wear this twice this season, and probably never again. This wasn't intentionally designed since it is a throwback but that seems to get lost on people. This jersey was probably the best one to pull from for a 100 year throwback. The other jerseys (really sweaters since that's what was used at the time) in this time period have a lot of striping that would be harder to translate to a modern NFL jersey. In the 30s, the Giants were a bit more experimental with their look, and were changing their jerseys every year. This throwback jersey was used the most in that time period from about 1925 - 1933. The Giants started wearing solid blue and solid red jerseys in 1937, so their home jersey is already a really old throwback. I like the throwback a lot and I wish more teams would pull out more jerseys like this. I like learning about the early history of the NFL and really old throwbacks help keep some of that history alive.

#2: Detroit Lions

A very close second, these new uniforms seem to be a throwback to the Barry Sanders era in the 90s. The only major difference is that the Lions away uniform had silver pants instead of blue. Either way, the new uniforms look great. I don't like the bold DETROIT on the away uniforms which alot of teams seem to be doing these days. The lions are finally moving away from their ugly prison all grey color rush uniforms and are replacing them with an all black one instead. It's ok, but I don't get the obsession with adding black alternate jerseys. I much prefer their 50s throwback jersey (which is still in this set) which is normally used on Thanksgiving. A good look and upgrade over their previous look.

#1: NY Jets
jets_uniforms.jpg
The Jets previous uniforms were so ugly, that they immediately switched to these the moment they could. The NFL requires teams to wait 5 years before there are major uniform changes and requires 3 years of notice. The Jets wasted no time and finally picked a much better uniform. It's a throwback to the NYSE of the 80s which is one of the best eras of Jets history (I know, sad). It's a nice and simple look without all the crap that Nike likes to put on their jerseys these days. Older jerseys always seem to look better than the newly designed ones that come out. They do have a black alt that plagues so many teams but I doubt they will wear it much.

Lawrence getting an extension makes sense. Idk when Jacksonville will ever get close to having a QB at his level, even if he turns out to be Kirk Cousins level.
There's always Mac Jones.

He's all yours, Duval. At least all that time sitting on the bench will give him plenty of time to work on getting his realtor's license.
