So the NFL season starts after Labor Day, but don't they normally have the 3 preseason games right up to the start, or am I going crazy? I do like that it's effectively a bye week so everyone can get healthier but it feels odd.
There is 3 preseason games but almost none of the starters play in them at most they will be in for a series or two for one game then not play for the rest. Everyone else that plays are the people that need to prove that they can make the team or prove that they still have the ability to play mainly to test rookies and undrafted players.

There used to be 4 preseason games but the NFLPA managed to get rid of the last game in exchange for the 17th reg season game.
Good trade if you ask me. I say give them a 2nd buy week and expand to 18 a week (still 17 game) season. I will NEVER not be in favor of the the football season being lengthened.
Please don't fall for the deceptive words of Roger Goodell. There isn't a trade of 1 preseason game for a regular reason game. There's nothing written down that the only way to expand the regular season is to get rid of preseason games. The NFL used to have 5 preseason games in a 16 game season. They used to have 6 in a 14 game season. They could expand the number of regular season games played without reducing the number of preseason games played but they won't because of greed.

Roger hates the preseason because it doesn't make money, plain and simple. The trade is getting rid of something that doesn't make money, and replacing it with something that will make money. Never mind the fact that every coach hates this because they need preseason to evaluate players. They need live games to see how players perform, and you won't get it if the preseason is gone. Never mind that this will hurt the quality of games as the first 4 weeks will become the preseason as teams figure things out with players who never got live reps. I also find it annoying since every other sport has a preseason and I never heard anyone complain about it. It's only the NFL that hates its own preseason.

Three days until the season starts in earnest, last chance to get your season-long hot takes in!
I don't have anything in particular to wager, but I think Kirk Cousins is going to look and play like a 36 year old man coming off of an Achilles tear, and Penix will be starting for the Falcons by December.

Ignoring hoping that the Chiefs collapse as some kind of karma for their entire off season - and to avoid the 3-peat, dynasties get boring fast - I’m hoping for the most insufferable Superbowl matchup just so I can laugh at fans. Which would be what, Cowboys-Steelers?

Look my teams are the Raiders and the Red-Manders, my season’s going to be over at like, Week 9 anyway.

Teams that will suck at the beginning of the year and then win a bunch of pointless games in December to convince their fans that next year will be their year

-Oakland Raiders
-San Diego Chargers
-Indianapolis Colts
-Washington Redskins Commanders
-Arizona Cardinals
-Chicago Bears
-New Orlean Saints

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift have a messy breakup in November, she writes a song about it, the entire stadium starts singing it whenever he takes the field, he eventually runs up into the stands and starts throwing punches and is banned from the NFL for life.

Thus ends the dynasty.

Jordan Love and the Packers are going to do worse despite all the hype they've been getting.
I can definitely see a bit of regression for them this season. With no Rodgers getting in the way last year, LaFleur could use all of his playbook. This season, the only unscouted looks he'll have will be shit he thought up in the offseason. They won't be sneaking up on anyone this time around, so it's going to be up to the youngest team in the league to execute at a higher level. The biggest upside they have right now is that everyone made it through preseason without any serious injuries, but we know that's going to last about as long as a candle's flame in a hurricane once the regular season begins.

Chiefs won't three-peat as Barry McCockiner cries in his room wearing his semen encrusted Mahomes jersey.
Which do you think would hurt him more:
-Chiefs lose in the AFCCG to the Bengals, who then lose to the Rams, again
-Eagles get pancaked by the Cowboys in either the wild card or divisional round

That Superbowl would be soo sweet as a few things will happen:
  1. The Romosexuals bitches will be assblasted mad that Romo will finally be confirmed as worse than Dak.
  2. Jerry will be forced to shell out even MORE money to Dak for getting the team to the big game
  3. It will be the 3rd 4th matchup in the SuperBowl. Each team is 1-1 against each other Pitt is 2-1 against Dallas.

Insufferable if we're talking about fanbases and ignoring the Chiefs would probably be Cowboys-Steelers yeah, or Cowboys-Ravens. With an extra dash of the NFC Championship being Cowboys-Eagles/Packers. The 49er's fanbase is only slightly less insufferable.

I think Houston is gonna regress, that division is too wide open and I find it hard for Stroud to follow up that amazing rookie year.
Slowik's long-term career depends on not getting found out now that there's a year of tape on him and Stroud. I've seen enough in interviews with Stroud to not think he's the limiting factor of that partnership, it's whether Bobby's scheme depended on novelty to make it work.
A lot of those random passes to Tank Dell depended on catching the opposing defense unawares.
