Absolutely crazy, not sure what's going wrong with the Texans. Same thing with the Bears I guess.

Goff is showing us why his MVP campaign was pure hype with no substance. This team shows you that a QB isn't what is needed to win.
Jake bates tho............build em the statue.
>Bates
>quits dead end sales job
>starts kicking
>wins the game with the longest kicks in Lions history
>praises Christ when asked what helped him win

Yeah, I’m thinking he’s based.

The Bears probably have more raw talent in their WR room than the Texans, even if Stroud has really good chemistry with what's basically an entire room of middling WR2s.
Also they have the 49ers problem where their entire offensive line hinges on the left tackle so Stroud has basically zero time to throw against even middling defensive lines.

you're forgetting the part where he played for the UFL Michigan Panthers. His first FG attempt was a 64-yarder. which he made.

On another note, does it seem like more teams than usual just flat out suck this year? Or at best are mediocre with zero possibility of going beyond the first round? I don't have the time or candidly the patience or interest to go team by team for all 32, but this is what my gut is telling me. Kind of reminds me of the gap between the haves and have nots in MLB, which the NFL theoretically shouldn't have with a salary cap and revenue sharing.

The injury bug has also bit a lot harder than normal. Lots of season enders and multi-week injuries for every team in the league. But even then, the teams that are at the top of their divisions aren't really "elite" in any particular way. Kansas City has lucked out and limped their way to a 9-0 record, despite Mahomes having a historically bad (by his track record) year. The Bengals, who only just competed in the Super Bowl 2 years ago, seem to have imploded. The Lions and Vikings were on track to make the NFC North a bloodbath, but have clearly reached some sort of plateau. The Vikings in particular the last two weeks have been ass and it looks like Darnold has finally gotten back to playing like his usual self. Even though they got the win last night, the Lions still ended up giving the ball away 5 times to a Texans team that has competitive spirit but not enough talent to make a convincing playoff run.

It's just an off year. I was telling myself at the beginning of October to just give things time. Obviously the beginning weeks of a season can't determine an entire year, but now I'm starting to think the opposite. It already feels like this season has gone on for 6 months, but we're just barely over the halfway point. I almost have no desire to watch any games because there isn't a team that is miles above the rest in terms of quality.

The Detroit Lions, when 100% healthy, are the most complete team in the NFL, theres not a single major hole on their roster. Jared Goff is probably the weakest link on the offense, but thats more of a testment to the Lions team building than the quality of Jared Goffs Qb play. From putting up 52 points in less than 200 yards of total offense and overcoming 5 interceptions, this team can, and will do, whatever it takes to win the game. Unless another half dozen starters get season ending injuries this team is superbowl bound, theres no doubt in my mind.

Alrighty Farmers I'm just curious.

Of these HC's, whose the next to be fired mid season? As in which of these guys is gonna go first.

Eberflus

Doug Pederson

Brian Dabol

Zac Taylor

Mike McCarthy

My personal bet is that while the jags are for sure gonna move on from Doug, eberflus is surely gonna be fired sooner than later. Though it really depends.

Edit: I completely forgot about Dabol. Lmao that's how forgettable the Giants are.

I also agree that it will be Doug Pederson. I could see Eberflus being canned as well, but I think that the Jags are a bigger mess right now.

McCarthy is gone as well. It's a matter of when, not if.

I can't see Zac Taylor get fired. The Bengals kept Marvin Lewis for 15 years or so, there is no way they move on after 1 bad year.

Eberflus, Pederson, and Dabol are the 3 most likely candidates. Jerry is probably going to let McCarthy go at the end of the season and Taylor probably goes next year some time

I also want to throw Dave Cannales (Panthers HC) in there. I don't think he should be fired but with Dave Tepper, you never know.

He deserved it with that playcalling, but it's hilarious the Bears ownership has attached a rookie QB to an obviously lame duck head coach three times in a row now.
I suppose the Steelers will be cooking with Caleb Williams sometime around 2028?

I am certain that the play caller is the LEAST of the bears issues. When Eberflus does get the boot. The issues will only get worse. New Coach New System. Means that Caleb, who I've always have had my doubts about despite everyone seemingly trying to make em out to be this new age Mahomes. While has some merit when he's put up against an unranked College defense. Is not gonna manifest. Or even be close to what people were expecting.
With a new coaching staff. They will not have the same vested interest in caleb being the be all end all. There's literal footage and stats proving this point.

Caleb is not gonna have the "number 1 overall pick" luster he had with this current staff. he will have to learn a new system, and prove himself to not be a bust with this new staff that would frankly might already be looking at starting a new.

You can't give the Bears a Top 10 QB pick for the same reason you don't give your 16 year old a Hellcat.

He's just gonna ruin the car, and kill himself in the process, probably before he turns 17.

Not the way the team is playing. If anything, Tepper holds on to coaches for too long (Rivera, Rhule).
