And this is ignoring what it is likely to do directly and indirectly to the game itself. The potential for fuckery and the image of the sport given the dangers of that fuckery. Just like our current ruinous economic market and inf growth ideologies, as well as the business "logic" they drive.. it's all (exclusively) short term thinking at it's worst.
The go to line for me and my dad when refs fuck up/miss a call is "Somebody check their fanduel accounts."

"Gambling is terrible. Wait, we can make how much money off of sports betting?"
- Professional Sports Leagues and politicians

They're setting the stage for the next addiction epidemic. I never paid much attention to gambling addiction until the BossmanJack thread because it was the realm of geriatric slot jockeys and criminal bookies. Now it's everywhere, shoved in your face a dozen or more times during any game of any league. People who have previously had no interest in sports, often in demographics these leagues want to reach, are now caring about sports because of gambling. Fantasy and other gambling related activities are growing more and more popular in states where straight up sports betting is not allowed.

It's only going to get worse.
Very minor PL: Growing up, my dad was a gambler. Loved the slots. We had to move almost once a year cuz he lost the rent money.

With gambling, it doesnt matter what kind it is. The formula is always the same: You're up.....till you're not. And since nobody likes to lose, theres a good chance they're gonna chase those losses.....and do even worse.

I 100% believe that the NFL is working with the big sports betting companies to influence games. How much? That I don't know. But it's definitley there. There's way too much money to be made.

EDIT: For clarity

The NFL's brightest mind is on the case of Niners' fan attack.

AB has a thread for anyone who doesn't know.

The Bills will still choke either in the divisional round or the championship game just watch.
I lean more towards we go all the way back to the early 90's and they choke in the Super Bowl.

Did that get deleted? Cause I checked and that's not there anymore.

The only thing that makes beating the Packers better is when its such a demoralizing loss.

Detroit's defense is in shambles, and they still lost.

:story:
I was so worried Detroit would lose because of their injuries but god damn am I happy. The Lions success is about the only thing I can be happy about this season.
Aaron Glenn has taken a practice team and made them go the distance. If the Lions can get like 1/4 of there guys back by playoffs, they’re going all the way.

Glenn took the longest but he is proving wholesale why he has remained for this long. Still remember people making fun he was getting or could get HC interview/consideration.

I will suspend my cheesehead seething and just leave you with the most subtle no-call in the NFL.
Welcome to the NFL in 2024. There's at least one of those every game, every week. Refs are too busy looking for all the other shit the NFL is pushing to call hands to the face or facemask anymore.

I don't really understand the appeal of the Family Guy -> Sports clips TikTok edits, but this one got me.
