I saw somewhere that Skip Bayless started the rumor that Troy Aikman was gay
He did. It's because Jerry had a party mansion for the players with drugs and women. Troy was one of the few players who didn't go to it claiming it wasn't for him so Skip took that as he must be a homo. Switzer ran with it after the fact because they hated each other. Troy thought he was a worthless coach and let him know it.

It's funny that Skip was a rage baiter for attention decades before it became the norm. He was perfectly fine with being hated by players as long as it got him attention. Even though most sports pundits copy his style they can't really capture it because they're desperate to be liked by players.

Also, holy shit is MacDaniels going to just give away players to spite the organization isn’t he?

I mean, who do they have to trade? Tyreek is probably the most valuable player they can trade, but his leg is Fucked, to say nothing of the inevitable off field antics he'll get up to. Leaves them what, Achane, Chubb, and Waddle if I had to name 3 people? It's not like they can even get value trading a franchise QB away, considering Tua is one good hit away from becoming Antonio Brown.

I think McDaniel knows he's fucked and is just throwing everything at the wall in a vain attempt to save his job. The real question is "Does McDaniel make it through the season?"

I know McDaniel is weird and probably going to get fired but the GM, Chris Grier might survive another failed regime he put together like a cockroach. He's been the GM since 2016, hasn't drafted well over that time span, and is about to fire his 3rd heach coach. I know Dolphins fans are trying to get him fired but an owner like Ross might not care enough to make a change.

They have solid-ish pieces on the O-line that can also be moved. Just no real stars.
Yeah, the entire offense is basically the last bastion for trades; most GMs prob look at the Dolphins Defense as stinky poo poo worth nothing to trade for.
It's looking like its time to blow up the team and rebuild.
You could prob trade Tua to an insanely desperate/experimental teams for a QB, like the Saints, Raiders, Jets, or possibly even the Vikings if they give up on McCarthy. The return won't be great, prob a lowball offer.

McDaniels is gonna lose his job, but he will find a place somewhere else as an OC pretty quickly imo.
He's gonna be somewhere completely offensively minded with coaches who think adjacently (Saints, Bears, possibly Dallas).
Or he's gonna be reigned in by Hitler-level Coaches (49ers, Raiders, Steelers, maybe even Ravens).

Yeah, McDaniel has no say over the Dolphins roster, I'm sure. Grier either tells really good jokes over drinks or has incriminating photos of Ross (or both tbh) for him to still be on this team after working for Ross for pretty much the entirety of the Dolphin's ongoing playoff win drought.

Oh, so the NFL might actually have opened themselves to getting sued about the Brian Branch stuff @Absolutego. NFL films released a video where they basically just shit on Branch. They then pulled it because it’s NFL films mocking a player for being taunted and being illegally blocked in the back.

Also, the Touchdown got called back from New York which conflicts with what the Refs said.

Chubb and Waddle is about it.

Tyreek's on an expiring contract and has no trade value. Achane I doubt there's much interest in him because he's old for a running back.

Tua's contract is set up in a way where you could just cut him after next season, so if they were willing to take on some of his salary he could be moved pretty easy to a team looking for a bridge QB.

Then Grier can get even more draft picks to waste!

High-end NFL contracts are so dumb. They’re mostly all 1-3 year deals with fake years/money so reporters have to say it was a $100, $200M deal etc. I’m not the first person to make that point, but I don’t really understand why.

Maybe it’s just to stroke the players ego but there’s no reason for them to care about public opinion. My conspiracy is that agents and GMs are doing good old fashioned fraud where the agent gets another good blurb on his resume and the GM gets a healthy discount.

I want it on record - I’m laughing if Tua winds up in Cleveland

It’s not impossible, considering the Browns QB List…

Yeah, smart teams will give themselves an out using rolling guarantees. Even Mahomes' contract is set up this way.

Or you could be the Cardinals or the Browns. Kyler Murray and Deshaun Watson don't have that.

Chubb and Waddle is about it.
Would Chubb even net them a day 3 pick? He was a fringe Pro Bowler at his best, recently tore an ACL and has looked ok this year but not amazing. That contract would need restructuring as well for the trading team, ain't nobody signing up to pay him almost $20 million for the next two years

Yeah, I'd say end of 3rd or high 4th pick for him for a team that needs pass rush help and has playoff aspirations.

You can just cut him after this season. His contract has a bunch of weird incentives in it but I think it'd cost the receiving team like $4m at most. He's going out to the pasture regardless since the phins aren't gonna pay him $20m.

Who do we want in the Movable Object vs Stoppable Force Game? (Browns v Dolphins)

@Trombonista I imagine you want the Browns, but curious about everyone else. I feel like Myles Garret might actually deliver the coup de grǎce onto Tua. Tua might be free from the Dolphins and Zach Wilson inherit his cursed position.
