I know that is the reason as well. It's a gay reason and it hurts the sport. Football is supposed to be played outside in the elements. All to host one superbowl and never get considered again.

That's the more recent development. Since 2009, the NFL has been rewarding teams that build new stadiums with superbowls. It gave cities an incentive to give in more to the teams demands like tax payer funding. Since the Rams stadium in 2020, they've been pushing for not just new stadiums, they need to have entertainment districts and domes to host more events all year round. I don't know why they would want to copy the rams since they have the worst home attendance in the league but they must be making money for the league to copy it.
