They're the Lions. Them having a chance at winning a Super Bowl was a meme everyone believed in because of mass hypnosis due to social media.
I believe what the NFL should do is to fold most of the teams in the League that have never won a Super bowl and just stick with the teams that have won a championship in their existence. 32 teams is just unprofitable when you have half of them that never won anything in there existence.

The Lions, with a top-three spot in terms of an OC, felt rushed to get an offensive coordinator. They were so rushed that despite conducting interviews with some solid to very good candidates, they hired a guy who comes from not only one of the worst teams in the league in general but also a very terrible offense. He was also never a real candidate or a name on any board that anyone can come up with, in a year where making this style of hire is very critical.

Make this make sense.
Dan Campbell is about to lose his job because he can't hire an OC. I think he has fired 3 of his OC's in the past 6 years.
My guess is that McDaniel is gonna go back to Saleh and there's just not a lot of OC candidates at the moment so they just grabbed whoever.
McDaniel wants to run his own offense, not have some meathead in his ear telling him to go for it on 4th and 17 from their own 35

Supposedly the guy was picked because he coached with Ben Johnson at Boston College and the Oline coach is tight with him.

Who do you think Jim Harbaugh is? He's the ultimate meathead coach. It's gonna be interesting to see them work together.

Still remember during a Charges game PFF had their center ranked 42. There's only 32 teams.

I'm putting money on polymarket that by the end of next season Harbaugh yells at McDaniel on the sideline so bad it makes him pee his pants.

Yeah but is Jim going to be interfering with the offense? Dan has taken on play calling duties a few times in his tenure and he would be breathing down McDaniels neck. I bet Harbaugh gave assurances Campbell couldn't
When Harbs was on the 49ers he had that weird playcalling by committee thing going on and it took them a while to get in plays, which is also something McDaniel struggles with.

I think this is going to be an absolute disaster but whatever.

Eh, Mike McDaniel's dad worked for the Broncos. He's been on football sidelines for years, I don't think Jim yelling at him will make him piss himself. But it would be funny.

On the one hand, one of those is my team and that would be nerve-wracking as a fan.
On the OTHER, the league/media would have no idea what to do with themselves if the game is just two great defenses grinding it out in a three score game and the memes would be WILD

I get that first part. Outside of not wanting a rival to win and maybe seeing the greatest statistical UGA QB win another ring, I have no dog in the fight.

I will say it'd also be the most monkey-paw'd way to end the season, with the normalcy of two 1-seeds making it, only to have the backups start.

I don't think he's gonna yell at McDaniel. Harbaugh fucking loved JJ McCarthy so he's good at dealing with people whose gears don't turn quite right. IIRC Nine was Harbaugh's ideas to help McCarthy get out of his own head for games.

I just expect McDaniel to start acting extremely fucking weird being around Harbaugh all the time. Maybe he'll get an alter ego too.

Its certainly starting to look like he got extremely lucky with Ben Johnson. We'll see how this next season goes, maybe Petzing will do better with a real O-line and a QB who isnt a retarded midget. Still would have like to had McDaniels, only downside to him is you only get 1 maybe 2 seasons of winning before he's going to take another head coaching gig.

If you took McDaniels, you get one year to make a push and win with what's left of this squad. When he inevitably leaves, that gives you an excuse to rebuild
