I'm still amazed Penix isn't a fake name to begin with.

He's not any kind of rounder. He's a camp body and a temporary curiosity, before he gets cut after the final preseason game and goes to play in Canada or the UFL.Yeah, but it’s gonna be funny seeing a team take a chance on him with how this QB class might as well read “Mendoza than everyone else”.
He’s definitely not a First Rounder, but with how hyped Gruden looked (granted Gruden always looks hyped when he’s talking Football) you know there’s probably a team that doesn’t have a franchise QB thinking about it.

Makes sense - Houston’s Defence was what carried them all year, if anyones on a deal thats coming up you lock them down now before the market explodes. Will Anderson Jr. of the Texans has been given a three year extension worth $150 million, with $134 million guaranteed.
Houston wasted no timing locking him up before the market took another huge leap for pass rushers.
Honestly I think he'd be lucky to get in as a UDFA considering his personality issues. Wouldn't want some weird social media shit going on in camp. He's a worse prospect than Tua's brother IMO.He's not any kind of rounder. He was the easiest of the two first rounders they have from that class to make an extension decision on, for sure.Makes sense - Houston’s Defence was what carried them all year, if anyones on a deal thats coming up you lock them down now before the market explodes.
And then hope the Draft can help the offence…
No way they just got these done with the trade and all
Or does he tell Stroud it's put up or shut up time next season, we'll revisit extending you then?
One of the things that makes this really difficult is next years QB market has the potential to be a shit show of apocalyptic levels never seen before. Not only are Stroud and Bryce Young going to be looking for extensions, but the entire 2024 QB class will also be looking for extensions as well. On top of a lot of older guys as well like Lamar and Darnold. Along with other QBs who are playing on one year deals this year like Tua, Murray and Daniel Jones. He was the easiest of the two first rounders they have from that class to make an extension decision on, for sure.
What they do with Stroud is gigantic question mark. He had a great rookie year. He was serviceable but never reached the same heights again the next two years. The line is still a problem, but it's also how he plays. This is a defense in win now mode. This offense needs work, but he's letting them down more than they're letting him down.
Does Caserio leverage Stroud's inconsistency into a team-friendly, flexible contract because his market is comparatively cheap? Could risk pissing him off and making a hold out loom over the front office's head should he take a step forward this year. Could make his demands even more egregious if he proves himself.
Or does he tell Stroud it's put up or shut up time next season, we'll revisit extending you then? Pans out if Stroud proves to be that guy, then an extension is a no brainer and you find a way to make the money work. Pans out if he continues to decline, you can probably chalk it up to his rookie year catching teams off guard before they learned his game and move on. But what if he's just more of the same? What if he's thoroughly mid, or inconsistent to the point of it averaging out as mid? What if you're in a Kyler Murray situation?
Given the dead cap space the Cards and Dolphins have been left holding, you're probably safer with a market-value bridge QB + looking to the draft for a new guy for the future. There's no way they can afford a franchise QB salary for mid performance.Or does he tell Stroud it's put up or shut up time next season, we'll revisit extending you then? Miami's kinda fucked with trying to sign anyone considering Grier set up 2026 to be the tank/rebuild year, then cutting Tua made their situation even worse. 60% of their cap is dead cap which is crazy numbers, even Loomis never even hit that.Given the dead cap space the Cards and Dolphins have been left holding, you're probably safer with a market-value bridge QB + looking to the draft for a new guy for the future. D-did Duke Tobin learn he can't draft in the first round?View attachment 8880518
On one hand, I love this move. On the other hand, my excuse to drink and eat bad food on Thursday is now gone.

I know "haha bengals cheap" is a funny meme and all but they were just top 10This man is never getting the bag LMAO. Cheapest team in the league, I know he’s pissed.
From someone who has been burned by hype in the past, i recommend not going past cautious optimism until after a certain point in the season to wait to see what the team plays like and stats come inI am little bummed about the Lawrence trade. I really wanted him to be part of the face of our return to glory.
At the same time, he is older now and we probably have gotten all that we could out of him as a player. He also just generally seemed to want out of New York. I hope they are at least going to do something smart with the pick we received for him.
