The Official Simpsons Griefing Thread

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Yesterday a couple of coworkers were like, "Did you hear they're going to kill off Marge Simpson?" "Yeah, I think the actress that played her died. So. 🤷"

I interjected to say Julie Kavner isn't dead, but she is like 80, so maybe she's finally retiring. Which of course elicited a "Oh wow, look at this fucking nerd that knows everything!" response.

I looked it up; they were referring to the 36th season finale (article link), which is set in the future and shows how the family deals with Marge's death. In the future. Talk about-
Regardless I think newer episodes use some sort of emotional blackmail to get the "simpsons is good again" crowd to like it.

Kavner's not going anywhere. And Marge dies before Homer? Really?

I think it's funny that they got some of the attention they sought with this plotline and the teasers, but not beyond "saw thing on tiktok," with no desire to actually watch it.

I keep getting nonsense about this in my feeds.

It's so fucking retarded. The Simpsons has "killed off" characters in "Future" episodes before. Because the "Future" episodes are basically just a more boring and stupid version of the Treehouse of Horror episodes, they're not canon even to the very loose concept of canon The Simpsons has.

All the news articles and videos talking about this are only doing it for clicks. They know a lot of people haven't seen it so they were click on the page or video giving them money.

Was watching Youtube shorts and this clip got recommended to me listen to Marge's voice.
Night and day difference between that clip and a '90s clip. And that whole clip feels like some "TikTok" or some other "social media" "viral video" "smartphone" "app" thing.

Not going to go through 430+ pages to see if its already been posted but I imagine most of us have seen this chart before:

Its extremely obvious when the show should've been cancelled. I don't even rewatch episodes past season 10, never will. It was stale back then. The movie should've been the definite end but nope they keep shitting them out.

Futurama was clearly setup to be the successor and Fox would've been wiser to end the Simpsons and have given Futurama the chance it deserved (rather than bumping it for football every Sunday till it was cancelled.)

Btw, how did the kill Apu off?

Apu is still alive; they've just demoted him to no speaking character status appearing as a background character these days.
