Yesterday a couple of coworkers were like, "Did you hear they're going to kill off Marge Simpson?" "Yeah, I think the actress that played her died. So.

I interjected to say Julie Kavner isn't dead, but she is like 80, so maybe she's finally retiring. Which of course elicited a "Oh wow, look at this fucking nerd that knows everything!" response.
I looked it up; they were referring to the 36th season finale (article link), which is set in the future and shows how the family deals with Marge's death. In the future. Talk about-
Kavner's not going anywhere. And Marge dies before Homer? Really?
I think it's funny that they got some of the attention they sought with this plotline and the teasers, but not beyond "saw thing on tiktok," with no desire to actually watch it.

Regardless I think newer episodes use some sort of emotional blackmail to get the "simpsons is good again" crowd to like it.
