The first movie wasn't even good.

The first movie got glazed way too much because it was much higher quality than the show was at the time. I watched it again about a year ago, and compared to any of the classic seasons (which for me are 2-8 ) it was very underwhelming. A bunch of the gags in the first half were decently funny, but they tried to force a really corny family message like they were Pixar or something and it makes the entire second half of the movie feel really forced and flat. I have absolutely no hope with modern Simpsons to even have decent gags, and I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be a direct to streaming movie.
