The Official Simpsons Griefing Thread

It was, ol’ gil was like an omen of death for that show
Shauna chalmers was the palor mortis.
I didn't mind him at first as a living failure that the universe kept mocking, but he kept worming his way into more and more roles, things began to get too far with him when they made him into the replacement for Lionel Hutz...

Now that i think about it, his first appearance coincides with Hutz's last appearance, maybe it was a sign.

Driving all the way to Arizona for no other reason than to ruin Gil's life for no reason after he finally got it together was also an extremely weird out of character moment for Marge.

I could see Jerk Ass Homer doing that but Marge?

I stopped watching Bob's Burgers after they fired that voice actor for attending a Trump rally. It was never in the same league as (Classic) Simpsons, Futurama, or King of the Hill anyways. The characters (that weren't Bob) were often very annoying.
I thought it was pretty great in its early seasons, but it eventually became Big Mouth lite.

Oh God this character sucks, and I don’t even know why she exists really.
As uncanny said Goonbait, teen sex and pregnancy jokes because that’s what funny in hipster era, and They tried to do that thing where orderly guy has trashy rebel daughter trope that jessica lovejoy did better because she can flip to being a goody two shoes around her parents.

Kumiko or whatever comic book guy’s wife is named is also another crappy character from hipster era Simpsons I swear one of the writers is a Redditor who wrote his fanfic of him marrying his dream Japanese girl. It kills his whole character where he’s just a snide sarcastic prick who thinks he’s hot shit while eating potato chips in his basement. Instead of making a trendy character Would have been better if his wife was just him in a dress, jokes would have written themselves.

Comic book guy has a fucking wife?
Yes a Japanese manga artist that he met on not 4chan.

The above sentence illustrates nicely just how fucking long this show has been on the air.

I think even Moe yes the hideous unlovable incel troll character has a wife or girlfriend now.

Moe has had several girlfriends in zombie simpsons
Nigerian princess, midget, that woman who was dating snake or was that mr burns’s? they look too similar and unsimpsony to keep up with, some nordic woman.

Why do they keep bothering with this subplot?
It’s a status quo show, we all know how it will end.

Based on every instance of Shauna that comes to mind I have to say you’re right.

Kumiko was a character I thought my friend was meming about when he told me because I had stopped watching by that point.
Comic Book Guy works as being repulsive and acerbic, not as a Reddit mod’s fantasy life come true.
(Even though he’s definitely a Reddit mod).

They got this when they briefly paired him with Agnes, and it was hilarious, but it wasn’t something that needed to stick.

Has the show done anything to explain Apu's absence? Is the Kwik-E-Mart still in the show?
They should at least throw in a line that "Trump deported Apu" or something to explain.
The funniest replacement for the Kwik-E-Mart would be James Woods, but they're too chickenshit to hire a "canceled" actor.
The second funniest replacement would be Snake Jailbird being sentenced to work there as community service and now he's the one getting shot at.
He was appearing as a non speaking background character for a bit but was removed a couple of years back.

On a side note, anyone else getting annoyed at how Fox's animation block is being handle these last couple of years?

Fox hasn't had a good new cartoon since Bob's Burgers and quite frankly, moving crap around the line up and the propping up of the crappy new stuff is getting annoying. And with American Dad returning to Fox and the revivals of KOTH and Futurama exiled to Hulu because there just isn't room on the tv schedule, crap is going to get even more crowded and hard to follow.

Driving all the way to Arizona for no other reason than to ruin Gil's life for no reason after he finally got it together was also an extremely weird out of character moment for Marge.

Jerkass Marge and the writers explicitly (and I do mean explicitly) retconning Bart's devil child traits being from Marge is the biggest lore/status quo change of this decade. Supposedly the last round of writers added to the show in the last five-six years took the Al Jean challenge (he has a mandate where all new writers are tasked to write Marge centric episodes to prove they deserve to work on the show, since Marge is the "boring" Simpsons characters no one wants to write) and ran with the idea of turning Marge into Lois Griffin both to "empower" Marge from being the doormat of the family but also to let them do episodes involving Bart/Marge where they bond over their dark sides.

Wait what? There are a fuck ton of episodes showing Homer to have been a problem child/teenage rebel when he was younger heavily implying if not outright stating that Bart gets his devilish anti authority traits from Homer.

And if we get into zombie Simpsons territory Bart's aggressive and anti social behavior come from the Simpson Gene which Marge does not possess since she's

A - not a Simpson originally
B - female

A case has been made among fans that much like all of the early "Lisa Simpson Misery Porn" episodes led to a generation of writers on the show avenging Lisa via making her a perfect Mary Sue who has the entire universe bend over backwards for her in the 00s and 10s, the current generation of Simpsons writers are Bart stans who despised what Lisa the Simpson (the episode that introduced the Simpsons gene theory that doomed Bart's future) stated about the "Simpsons gene" and pretty much hard retconned it from the lore with the current "Bart gets his evil from Marge, who was a hellion until she learned to repress her rage and went full Stepford" status quo with regards to the current canon family dynamic.

With how characters are dropped, is it plausible that in a few decades, the show might become unrecognizable, except for Springfield's locales and the core family members? It would be funny to see everyone else disappear, with some nobody finding them offensive or the show refusing to recast them. Replacements, of course, would be mind-numbingly mundane and more dated than their 1990s counterparts.
