How the fuck so you even put this into practice? You HAVE to interact with women if you run a buisness, there is literally no way around it.
You could refuse to hire women. I'm not saying I'm for or against that but it currently might be a sound decision for a business at the moment. It's not illegal, plenty of businesses refuse to hire men, a great example are restaurants with female-only servers, or this fiasco right here.

Also how do single people date if they can't interact with the opposite sex?
Simple: they don't.

Maybe the Christian leaders should've actually practiced what the Ten Commandments say and not commit adultery or give into Satan's temptation. Then the Pence Rule shouldn't even need to be put into place. Oh wait, that'll actually require them to act according to the gospel, and they can't possibly do that.

Isn't Pence a fundamentalist, or of that stripe? You know, the type who thinks that everyone who doesn't believe as he does is going to hell? He's definitely part of the religious right. Most of those assholes ARE hypocritical jackasses.

Stupid, sexist, and paranoid. All of which, describe Pence perfectly. Not to mention insulting. Oh noes, I can't possibly be alone with a woman, because one of us might accuse the other of sexual harassment!"
Or the fundy crap about how men can't control their lusts, so women can't wear skimpy clothes, and have to have their dads or brothers around when they're "courting". Ugh

Besides, what happens if a person's gay, or bisexual? Then they're pretty much screwed. (No pun intended. Although, it would be freaking hilarious if he got hit on by some dude. Just imagine the salt from both sides?)

I don't know if it's legally mandated, but in the US, you'd be hard pressed to find a doctor who will treat a patient of the opposite sex without a chaperone. I can absolutely see that catching on in other professions when we're seeing that something as exceptional as an allegation on twitter of a decade old impropriety can affect a person's livelihood or a company's stock.

Dunno if it's been mentioned but for years I've had a woman gynecologist, and I've never been treated w just her in the room. I don't even go out of personal preference for a woman, just she's in network. I've had 2 other and I've never ever been even slightly undressed w just 1 person in the room. I don't know if it's my area, the field, or just the buddy system is in right now, but I'd be surprised to get a breast exam 1:1.

I've spoken about it with my wife, and she finds it exceptional. She says that in her opinion, which I share for the most part precautions should be taken as to avoid any inappropriate behavior and abuse scenario. Applying that rule in a professional setting would simply be unprofessional. If I should act this way with my female colleagues or her male colleagues behave this way with her, we'd probably have our careers kaput, the both of us.
Outside the work setting, she said she'd prefer me to avoid having too much contact with women that aren't her, her mother and sister, and my family. But that's just her being jealous and she knows it.
did your wife get mad that you had a long discussion thread with me here on kiwifarms dot net

since Pence is Catholic, do you think he thinks it's a problem for a priest to be alone with a woman?

It's a pretty big over-reaction. And kind of a lose-lose really. Follow the Pence rule and look sexist and/or a little paranoid or don't follow it and the risk still stands someone with some vendetta could start a which hunt trying to piggyback off the actual monsters like Weinstein or Cosby that MeToo helped undo.

He was raised Catholic, but I don't think he's one anymore -- I thought he was a born-again Christian or whatever?

It's a high risk liability that can easily be mitigated in most situations by involving a third party or keeping your office door open. It's not enough to not do anything, you cannot be in a situation where you plausibly could have done something.

No one even has to believe it, it's just cover your fucking ass because corporate will cover theirs when they fire you.

Of course trust is a huge factor here, if you trust a female colleague then the situation might be different.

There have been rumors of prominent men in tech having people with them during conferences to make sure they're never alone with women. With stuff like elevator-gate and the focus on code of conducts it's been an issue that's been pressed at conferences over and over.

Nah, she's of the antiquated opinion that people in an Internet forum somewhat aren't real people - "They are just nicknames and profile pics" :|
And I let her go through my phone and computer (and PS4) anyway, so she more or less always knows what I write or to who I write. She lets me do the same, but I'm not that jealous and so I have never did it. I honestly have no problem with it since I have nothing to hide.

Back on topic, I agree with many Kiwis on here.
If a man avoids contact with other women because he fears he'll "lose control", then he should stay home, period. Because serial killers do that to control themselves, not healthy and mature men, who should be capable of interacting with women without thinking about raping them.
I'm waiting for the genius who'll come up with "If Ted Bundy had followed the Pence Rule, those poor girls would be still alive".

Don't think anyone here said anything about 'losing control,' is just a reaction to legal misconduct and career destruction.

Anyway, thread and everyone in it is fake and gay, though the underlying issue is interesting from a sociology PoV I.E the effects of our modern lives on gender relations and mating strategies. Will we become like Japan, where the sexes avoid each other as much as possible, or will the social disease morph into a new direction? Stay tuned everyone!

Why do people find it so difficult to speak to or be around women? They are the other half of the human race not aliens from the fucking future. Anyone who feels they must adopt this rule either has uncontrollable psychotic urges to rape or is a god tier autist.

The reason why fundamentalist Christians believe these things is because most of the leaders of fundie organizations are perverts themselves. Bill Gothard was the leader of The Institute in Basic Life Principles. A fundementalist Christain organization that the Duggars followed. Bill had strict rules regarding conduct in how men and women should behave and interact and how women should dress. Turns out Bill Gothard was a pervert and sexually abused the teenage girls who worked for him. Josh Duggar is as we all know a pervert as well. They set these rules up because they believe since they can't control themselves around women all men can't.
