I remember having watched a TEDx Talk (yeah yeah I know) by a police chief responsible for crimes against children, online and offline. He said, in almost all cases of grooming and sexual child abuse, porn was used to normalise things and „show how it’s done“, no matter if the goal was rape or „just“ obtaining nudes. Combine this with the overly sexualised content every single first world teenager and child with internet access gets bombarded 24/7, and I see a clear correlation between child abuse and widespread pornography.

Don’t tell that a pornsick redditor though, they’ll call you an idiot for thinking porn is addictive while also refusing to believe there might be a male not habitually consuming out there.

The phrase 'pornography' implies consent, hence csem/csam being better terms.
Children cannot consent, so 'child pornography' doesn't exist. Any material depicting a child sexually is abuse.
It's true that the porn industry is rife with rape and abuse anyway, but rather than calling abuse material porn because of it, I think depictions of abuse should be called what they are: Depictions of abuse. Someone saying "You shouldn't watch porn, it's immoral' looks like a wokescold, while someone saying 'you shouldn't watch rape videos, it's immoral' is just someone with a brain.
Porn is also a very sexualized term (no duh) that implies some kind of desirability. Material depicting exploitation of a child, especially of a sexual nature, goes against any notion of human decency and doesn't deserve the kind of title that implies anything better than those responsible deserving to be drawn and quartered.
Paraphrasing, but I've seen some CSA survivors say that the phrase 'child porn' makes them feel like they're still being exploited even now while 'csem/csam' don't.

Moving away from the term CP isn't smart, in my opinion, and I don't believe that the move towards "CSAM" is being done to try to improve the discussion of the issue or to make communication more clear. It's not really a surprise that "progressives" have ran with the term, as they are typically at the forefront of degrading the English language for short term ideological victories. Unlike the previous label, which makes it clear it's sexual in nature, the new term is not based solely off of whether the material is sexual in nature, and can be restricted or broadened as one deems necessary during a discussion; I've seen people claim that clearly sexually exploitative creations, such as the infamous cuties, doesn't qualify as "CSAM" and I've seen people claim that drawings do qualify as CSAM based off of a nebulous "societal harm" claim. It just muddies the issue, I think, as you can claim things that are inherently sexual in nature aren't really abusive, and, thus, don't qualify as CSAM.

I highly disagree with "porn" implying consent, or the concepts of "snuff porn" and "rape porn" wouldn't exist.

It's probably because places like Youtube will demonitize you if you even think about uttering a combination of words like "child porn" anywhere in your content. I'm sure Twitter and plenty of other places flag that shit as well.

I really prefer the term "child sexual abuse material". People need to spell it out and not just use an acronym all the time though.

It emphasizes what this stuff really is, nothing more than horrific sexual abuse of children. Referring to it as "pornography" mitigates the seriousness in comparison to outright calling it sexual abuse. It shouldn't be hard for people to understand what this means and what is within the scope of it.

Ew. Anyone claiming that sexual activity involving children is not abusive is a pedophile trying to normalize child rape. However, sexual abuse is a form of abuse. Sex with a child is abuse of your power over a child, as a child cannot consent. Not all porn is consensual. Some of those rape porn videos are true rape, not a fantasy..... I remember the story about the child rape video that kept being held on a website (was it Twitter or PornHub?) long after the parents tried to get it taken off. How many people jacked off to it thinking it wasn't real?
