The positive points of Pol Pot? - Was he REALLY that bad?

He had the balls to do the "bashing babies against trees" thing, despite those acts being absolutely horrible. People have gotten de-sensitized to executions, but I don't think that's the case when it comes to children or babies getting killed.

He also was on to something, when he decided to purge journalists as well...

He’s dead. That’s about the only positive I can think of.

The fucker wanted to destroy all of Cambodian society, culture, and tradition as part of his Year Zero policy to rid the country of capitalist influences. The concept of the family, science, art, money, history, anything you can think of would be erased. The only thing to exist would be the Revolution. People would live and die in an unending cycle of work to support the Revolution.

What an utter personification of human evil.

That’s basically what our ruling class aspires to now.

He actually was very good about preserving Cambodian tradition and culture, that's why he looked toward Angkor and the medieval Khmer Empire (Cambodia's golden age) for his economic policies (irrigation, farm rice, communal village society) and wanted to liberate the Khmer Krom in far south Vietnam.
That’s basically what our ruling class aspires to now.
Except the science part, they worship science. Just like there were crusades and jihads in the middle ages, the modern crusade is flying minorities to the Moon.

No, there are none.

He's one of the rare breed of leaders that was completely destructive with no positive qualities. The closest parallel I can think of is Macias Nguema in Equatorial Guinea. For fuck's sake even Saddam built infrastructure.

I know some people who left Cambodia because pol pot was skull axing the fuck out of everyone. Their family became successful and now runs a multi million dollar business. If the Khmer rouge hadn't been busy genociding people they'd still probably be in Cambodia farming rice or some shit.

He was absolutely right about intellectuals and what should be done with them though.
I don't agree with his near-sighted killing policy... but I do approve of his Intellectual Class killing policy
Pol Pot unironically did nothing wrong. I work with "intellectuals" and I would love to put them before a firing squad.
Just wearing glasses made you an "intellectual" according to him and was enough reason to get shipped off to the killing fields.

Based and redpilled to kill anyone who needs prescription lenses?

I mean killing a quarter of your country's population is kinda lolsy.
A bunch of his alleged victims (he did not kill 25% of the population, those numbers use a faulty demographic model) were rapefugees from Vietnam in the slums of Phnom Penh who the Khmer Rouge didn't even kill, they just sent them packing back into the jungle because the American bombing campaign in Cambodia and Vietnam meant they had no food anyway.

Pol was basically MONKE accelerationist.

Good idea on paper, actually awful execution.
