I decided to make a thread to get a sense of people's opinion on the show or If they remember in general. I am re-watching it and some of it I will admit are boomer tier jokes, but the slapstick and some of the jokes are good. You can see where the TPB crew got some of their ideas. Even some edgy jokes: "Just like at the end of a rope, you will find death at the end of a snake." -Ranger Gord. IMO Still worth a watch and 1 of the only things Canada ever produced that was good.

It's been a really long time, so idk how well it would hold up since it's been decades, but I have fond memories of watching it with my grandpa when I was really young.

Glad someone brought this show up. I watched a little bit of it when I got suggested the Red and Green Show YouTube channel on YouTube, and they actually had an episode opposing same-sex marriage. I would have to find it, but Red said to Green something along the lines of "children have a right to a mother and father" when Green was playing a protester supporting gay marriage. This episode came out in like 2001, so obviously that was a more popular position, but I found it fascinating. I can't find the clip, but I think it was from this episode

The Red Green Show the greatest thing Canada gave to the world.

I had family member introduce me to this show when I was young from across the pond, along with the Trailer Park Boys and Kenny Vs Spenny.
I think back to the gag of the constant sounds of bandsaws and rifles being shot off in the background as the stereotype of Ontario Canada.
"If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy." I always think back to a segment of an episode where Red shows how to clean up the leftover hair clippings in the sink with gun powder and a match. Classic slapstick.

My Dad loved it too when I was real little. I'd have to watch it now as an adult to see if it's kino. I imagine it is since I only remember positive things said about it growing up.
I've been watching it these past couple of weeks and like I said there can be some cringy boomer humor. However it still makes fun of everyone and has positive male messaging in between the humor.

They unfortunately drop that bit after a season or so.

I really miss Slapstick comedy. I grew up with 3 Stooges, The Marx Brothers, Tom & Jerry, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and even Married with Children. All either were good slapstick or had great slapstick within. The genre was pushed out thanks to Pedowood dropping the mask years ago.

Red Green is a single character, played by Steve Smith, you might be remembering his nephew Harold as 'Green' he was the nerd character with the high pitched voice. Your link appears to be broken.

I used to enjoy watching this show, and I still watch it on YouTube, it amuses me when Canadians act shocked that any Americans know about the Red Green Show, it was on PBS every week.

I was a teenaged girl in the 90’s watching it on PBS, and I remember being so charmed by it. It was so unlike what was on at the time and none of my friends had any idea what I was talking about. I still quote the “at least they’ll find you handy” to this day, and STILL no one knows

E:I think at the time, I was the only one that voluntarily watched PBS

The comfort show of comfort shows. I remember watching and not understanding it as a child at-all, but still liking it just for the aesthetic and gags.

As an adult, it makes for phenomenal background noise and is up there with MST3K for me in terms of comfy nonsense to throw on when I just want to tune out. Admittedly I had completely forgotten about it until around a year ago, when it randomly started getting recommended to me on YT.
