The Room Thread

I met Tommy Wiseau in 2011 when I was working in the US. It was one of the most surreal experiences of my life.

Tommy was wearing leather trousers with lots of chains on them, a blazer, shades and a red tie. He was also fawning over females around and ignoring the men. He also let loose with his bizarre accent periodically roaring “YASS” or ordering cinema goers to “NOT TOUCH MAH HAIR”. Greg Sestero was very normal and chatted amiably to people (usually men who’s girlfriends were being creeped on byTommy. When I got to the front of the queue Tommy ignored me to talk to two women who were there with me (“O hai booty-full, O Hai Gore-jus” Greg came up and said he liked my Ireland jersey and got excited when he found out I was Irish. He's a really cool guy, very self-deprecatingly funny.
We were then lined up for the photo and I was n the middle which Tommy took offense to, insisting I stand on the end (so he was between the two women). Greg then offered to sign my The Room tshirt but Tommy bounded over and suddenly show interest in me (he never misses an opportunity to get his name out there)

It was then time for Q+A. The first girl asked Tommy where he was from and Tommy got really pissed off “DAT IS NOT A QUESTION, IF I ASKED YOU WHERE YOU WERE FROM YOU WOULD CALL ME RUDE. I AM AMERICAN. USA! USA! USA! USA! “ The next questions alternated between Greg and Tommy .Greg came across as a nice fella who was aware of the Rooms shortcomings. He’d answer questions with lines from the Room and a smirk. Tommy was a lot more serious. A girl asked what sort of money Denny owed causing Tommy to lean forward, and dramatically intone “DRUG MONEY” darkly.

Tommy railed against critics, who apparently lie about him and say the Room didn't use a script ("EET EEZ BULLSHEET, WE HAD A HUNNURD PAGE SCRIPT")

One of my friends asked Greg would he go on a date with her which he politely declined ("Sorry, still trying to work things out with Lisa") only for Tommy to jump in and offer to go on one with her. It quickly became clear that Tommy has an eye for the ladies, sending some guys back to their seats and refusing their questions and accepting questions from any girls in the queue. He would also hit on the women shamelessly “O hai my luv-ley” and insisted they surround him while he answered questions.

Check it out, a reading of the original script. Watch out for lines and directions that were cut when making the movie.

Hey all! I went to "The Disaster Artist" tour last night.

Did you get to see the documentary? I can't believe he has a copy of the original script, I hope it's leaked someday as I'd love to read it. 'You are not drinking your cognac, dear. It will taste good with pizza'.

I did! Lots of people cheering kind of made some parts inaudible, but it was still informative. Even if you've read the book, there's some pretty nice features (like test shots/original takes etc). Denny has not aged well, for the record, but most everyone else is looking good.

PS: I'm totally in that recording you posted...laughing at around 1:07 and 2:02...and other places. We had a really great Johnny that night. It's a shame Greg's Wiseau impersonation didn't get recorded, though. It's pretty spot on. Also, I'm still kind of jealous of those girls who aren't me. I was in front too. ;_; Anyway, it's a great script. Especially from around 8:45-11:30.

I hope both the documentary and script are released eventually. Johnny was great, Claudette was too (12:35 to her exit was amazing). I'd also like to hear the section that starts with Lisa talking to her mother on the phone, and ends with Lisa walking her mother to the door and saying goodbye (Tommy forgot they were on the phone). I read about Greg's famous Tommy impersonation. He said he's coming over to the UK in February, fingers crossed I can go.

Also, oh hai Yorrick.

Ok guiz, if the original room script ever comes out I demand that the cwckiforums do a reenactment of it

Dibs on the part of Lisa

I'll be Lisa's mother.

They way Tommy defends his movie, reminds me exactly of how Claudio Fragaso defends his masterpiece, Troll 2. Claudio is clearly annoyed that people laugh at Troll two, he sees it as a serious horror movie, like when Troll 2's actors referred to mistakes during the Q&A, he would stop and argue with them.

I just got back from seeing the Room in theatres. Everyone there had so much energy and passion for the film. Tickets sold out really fast but I was glad that I got the best seat in the house. Front row-center.

I've never been to an event where people actively yelled things at the screen. Even I was doing it to scenes where they kept the door open randomly. Or when Denny sits down in place when there's a chair in front of him.

I just saw the room

Hai Doggy.
Anyway, ever since I had a tantrum in the chatbox (which a few of you, especially holdek may remember) and stormed off proclaiming that I was quitting. I pulled a Chris and I'm back talking about some unrelated thing.
Watching The Room was a soul wrenching experience, was Tommy on crack when he produced and wrote and executively produced it?

I don't think this has been posted yet, and it's perfect.

According to The Disaster Artist, it seems the only drugs he used were prescription meds, Red Bull, vitamins, and, while filming the party scene, cough syrup (to be fair, he apparently had a cold at the time; drinking half a bottle at a time, however, is not a good idea. I once attempted to solve a severe case of insomnia by drinking Ny-Quil, but nowhere near that amount. It didn't make me sleepy and taking above the recommended dosage when I didn't even have a cold horrified my parents.)

I would love to see that book made into a movie, and I hope Greg Sestero gets involved in this thread. He is on the forums, isn't he?
