What I remember from the book is the main character is not a likable guy and it ends with him doing a 9/11 to the building that airs the titular show. If this going to a faithful adaptation, I wonder if it will keep that ending.
Actually, what happens is that the MC's wife and child are murdered at some point, but he isn't immediately told.MC's daughter is deathly ill and he can't afford medicine. So he competes on The Running Man. I think the girl dies anyway. Which is one of the reasons for the ending being the way it is.
When the MC is finally told, he kamikazes an aircraft into the HQ of the television network that runs the game, killing the main antagonist.
I recall the character being reasonably sympathetic, but if it's a faithful adaptation, it would one hell of a downer movie.
So would The Long Walk, for that matter.
