The Running Man Edgar Wright film being made thoughts?

What I remember from the book is the main character is not a likable guy and it ends with him doing a 9/11 to the building that airs the titular show. If this going to a faithful adaptation, I wonder if it will keep that ending.
MC's daughter is deathly ill and he can't afford medicine. So he competes on The Running Man. I think the girl dies anyway. Which is one of the reasons for the ending being the way it is.
Actually, what happens is that the MC's wife and child are murdered at some point, but he isn't immediately told.

When the MC is finally told, he kamikazes an aircraft into the HQ of the television network that runs the game, killing the main antagonist.

I recall the character being reasonably sympathetic, but if it's a faithful adaptation, it would one hell of a downer movie.

So would The Long Walk, for that matter.

While Edgar wright's latest have been sub par compared to his older stuff a running man remake sounds like something he could really stretch those creative muscle over. If it's being treated like a new adaptation of the book and not a worse version of the Arny one existing only because people remember the old one I'll be cautiously optimistic.

I can already tell by the announced cast, it's gonna be a hell of a lot closer to the book.

I have read the book a long time ago, and it is pretty mediocre. The existing movie adaptation is campy as hell, but at least it has a lot of funny one-liners and that 80'ies charm.

That is not a real human being's name. I refuse to believe that someone named their kid after bottled water but niggard up the spelling to that degree.
I once meet a little black girl named Female. She said "it's pronounced fa-mual-e. My momma saw dat on da birt certificate and thought it waz such a pretty name dat she named me that."

And, that is not the most ridiculous nigger name I have heard.

Yeah why not? It's not like original is a classic or anything...one of Arnie's meh films really.

Not as bad as Raw Deal or Red Heat but nowhere near a Terminator or Conan.

It would have made a lot of sense in the Reality TV era but thats been gone for years. I guess they could kind of update it to the era of Influencer stunts but there goes the faithful adaptation.
Influencer stunt movie would have me rooting against the protagonist. I already want Johnny Somali in prison, or better yet, North Korea's prison and that's IRL.
