The Shin Megami Tensei/Persona Thread

Frankly that is a disgrace. Raidou was damned cool back in the day.
Raidou is like 8 hours long which is incredibly short for a JRPG, it also has extremely simplistic mechanics compared to pretty much every RPG ever.

I liked it back in the day too but even back then it was a budget title.

Gamer expectations are higher now and I'm not even remotely surprised a worse looking version of a game that was dated even when it was originally released is not selling well.

Dreading what they'll do to P4. I just want my costal town murder mystery dammit! What are we gonna get advances in forensics too?

SMT V veangeance had 57k first week and that's just japan so maybe raidou can be sucessful. Most sales are on switch that souls hackers 2 didn't have either.

That said, Atlus is retarded for making it cost 50 bucks on steam when Golden and P3P are 20 dollars. Guaranteed, they were retarded to price nocturne HD the same (30 fps and compressed audio, custom inheritance added later btw) but it was riding on SMT V popularity and Nocturne reptuation. Raidou might not get away with it.

Anyways i started persona 5x and played a little more than 1 hour. It's trying REAAAAALLY hard to be persona 5, as it literally starts like persona 5, with the same first cutscene, but then the MC appears out of nowhere and stomps Joker in a fight making him look like a cringy edgy OC but it was all a dream! The start is similar but a bit faster to get your move on, you meet igor in the dream, witness someone suicide and end up in metaverse and the mascot expositions you a lot at once and kinda kills the mysteru. You get an aweakning just like joker but its kinda lamer cause i made no friends or met the villain yet. I did a few rerolls and stopped.

(i like her design)

(this owl mascot has a cool design but his personality is kinda simple so far, like an old mentor who gives exposition)

(this owl talks a lot. This game is only in japanese so i don't know if he says "Looking cool Wonder!")

(Wonder is the MC. He is a VERY boring and bland so far, at least joker has some edge and troll answers).

(I rerolled a few times until i got joker. In this game he only casts curse damage spells? Very basic kit.)

The gameplay is basically persona 5 lite, which might sound lame but that's deep for a gacha game where most of these gachas are auto battlers. You actually have MP and physical spells cost hp. I think everyone has 3 spells, a gimmicky passive and a ultimate except for the MC who can equip (3?) different personas with their own things.

"One more" is actually baton pass with seemingly a fixed elemental attack which i can see being a big deal in team composition (if you have a full fire team, everyone will one more fire right?). You still have attack, gun with ammo, defend and items but i don't know if items are allowed in the endgame. Battles will automatically count as failures after 80 actions.

But despite presentation and game being persona 5 clone, it reeks of gacha as you see all these retarded mobile currencies that sound like sick jokes. You have meta jewels, cognitive crystals, cognitive gems, violet cognitive gems, gold ticket, platinum ticket, milicoins, gecko coins, P coins AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Imagine if Philemon saw Igor selling Tatsuya a goddamn battle pass for 10 dollars or telling Maya she only has 0.4% chance of getting a new pistol from the slot machine. Don't forget that daily stamina refresh too, which is ironic since the game has no calendar.

The game separate weapon gacha that seems exclusive to individual units (evil) and the global server is nerfed on release freebies and the "soft pity" doesn't exist (chance of getting a 5* earlier). Chinese server is older and i heard powercreep is real but i don't know how bad it is. I will play more when i have time and see how it goes, see if i'll finish chapter 1 or 2 at least.
