All EA is doing is making it officially part of the system and likely retroactively adding it to the initial sims, so time will tell if certain LGTBQ+ families are actually gay or they just chose love is love.

I am actually amazed how a porn game can hardcode sexual orientation and yet it takes an AAA studio years to put it in. More annoyed by incompetence on EA's part than the woke stance

-Customizable sexual orientation, curved walls, and Wants and Fears, will be Base Game additions. The sexual orientation feature doesn't include support for custom pronouns, due to "technical limitations". It also cannot be switched of at all, and here's their reasoning for it:
I saw it pointed out on Twitter that before this pretty much every Sim was Bi since they had no restrictions on who they'd thirst after and didn't care who they ended up in a committed relationship with. For the first time since 2000 you can actually have straight Sims.
A carnival with rides, that sounds cool. I hope it's not just rabbit holes.
It feels like this pack should have been coupled with Parenthood.
It feels like they're breaking up Generations just like they broke up Supernatural into game packs. As much shit as people rightly gave Werewolves for being the Sims version of the Cats movie, I'll give them credit that the werewolves at least had unique models this time and weren't just the hairy dudes from Sims 3. I'm actually cool with this as long as it goes more in depth than the Sims 3 expansions did.

One of my bigger issues with Generations was the fact that it didn't have that one big feature that the rest of the Sims 3 expansions had but was a huge series of small additions. I would have loved to have playable high school in Sims 3.

So EA proudly announced that they're introducing sexual orientations to The Sims 4, and stated that they will forbid you from turning the mechanic off.

Aside from the pointless virtue signaling, this isn't anything new to the series. The Sims 2 had a sexual orientation mechanic as well, and that game came out in 2004. Meanwhile, The Sims 4 debuts in 2014 and it takes until 2022 to get something that was in 2's base game. Yet another example of gameplay mechanics in 4 that are heavily advertised as "new" but are anything but.

Well then I'll just have to deal with them all the old-fashion way 🤽‍♂️ 🔥

I feel like TS4 at this point is purely just a way for EA to virtue signal, pander to degenerates and make a quick buck. It's not even a game anymore.

Nobody except (unironically) autistic gamechangers youtubers actualy plays this game. I have had it installed since 2015 through an Origin emulator and I visit the actual 'gameplay' part every year or so and every time my conclusion is that even with all the fucking expansions this game is still just shit. For 7 fucking years I have used if for nothing but making sims (with CC, of course, because the game's style is awful when it comes to sims). Either to just pose them and take pretty screenshots or to visualise NPCs for tabletop campaigns.

I can't wait for TS5, it's going to a wild ride. Until then, I'll just stay by TS2 and TS3 if I want to play an actual game, thanks.

So the tweet I posted above mention something about "attraction parameters," which to me sounded vaguely like the "Turn Ons/Turn Offs" mechanic from 2. So I decided to look up the article in which they explain the mechanic in further detail. Turns out, no, it's not a system for determining if your Sim likes gingers or chiseled abs, but rather if your Sim is interested in "experimenting" with their sexuality.

So instead of bringing back a cool and interesting mechanic that enhanced the depth of your Sims' personalities, they just turned your Sims into Lesbians until Graduation. Fuck, I don't even play The Sims 4, and it still finds ways to disappoint me.

Thats what happens when you let queers run a game. The whole trailor looks like they checked off a diversity list. You cant expect interesting back stories or in depth features as long as they added the option to be an lgbt then thats enough for them.

The trailor and upcomming townies would look alot more interesting if they added highschool stereotypes. From the jocks, cheerleaders, goths, nerds and outsiders and how they all uniquely tackle school or maybe start the trailer with a sim that doesnt fit any group and tries to find themselves cause God forbid they add a normal healthy looking sim thats not apart of the lgbt or islam and is interesting.

Why do they think sexual orientations is an lgbtq thing only? Are they not straight people. Most people will make their sims straight anyway just like how they added the tranny filter but most people still made normal sims.

I wonder if they have a stork for gay couples.

Sadly, EA's virtue signaling isn't just limited to The Sims, even Battlefield suffered from this, with things such as the initial Battlefield V advertising campaign, and Battlefield 2042 including a Specialist that is Black French non-binary anarchist with a wingsuit.

Black-Alpha custom content is awful. From twerking animations, deathfat bodies, hood bullshit, to ugly Daquans. I wonder how this sub-community of modders and simmers will niggafry high school.

Yeah bro, when I think of improving Sims 4 as a game, I think of adding pronouns and sexual orientation and not adding QoL changes or simple basic things players are asking for.

"LGBTQIA+ identities are a fact of life and not a toggle to be switched on and off"
Did they really forget that someone can just make a mod completely removing this?

I like that this will make romance harder now since now you can get rejected because of the wrong orientation. Faggots are in for a rougher time romancing other sims lol

They should’ve made the trailer like the makeover scene from the 2007 St. Trinians reboot where they give the new girl a makeover to fit each of the different cliques of the school before she ends up with a look that looks really good on her:

Fortunately, JM Pescado included support for an FPS limiter for the game, with 3booter, to prevent this from happening.

Going back to TS4, more info about the High School EP, and the included base game update, has been revealed:

The Sims 4 team did a livestream of the EP:

-Customizable sexual orientation, curved walls, and Wants and Fears, will be Base Game additions. The sexual orientation feature doesn't include support for custom pronouns, due to "technical limitations", but the devs said that it maybe implemented in the future. It also cannot be switched off at all, and here's their reasoning for it:

I'm not sure how this will work, where that is not as strongly supported, although I think most of those places don't have access to TS4 anyways, since EA stopped selling TS4 in Russia due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the game was either banned or not sold at all in China, and I think it's the same for Middle East countries and Muslim ones (or either restricted) in general.

And given how the TS4 team swept Whims under the rug, I don't think the Wants and Fears will be done right this time, compared to in TS2, and even the Wishes in TS3 were implemented much better.

-Sims can now fail High School.

-Some more death types will be added in the EP.

And here's the full deep dive about what was revealed so far for the EP.
I genuinely don't know what was wrong with the "sexuality is fluid based on if you want to bone the sim or not, with preferences for certain genders when the sim isn't being played" system that's been in the series from the start. It's not like people won't just go into CAS and turn EA's precious premade lesbians into straight women. And assuming they're not using this system for premade sims and they're set to the default parameters your sims default to, this system barely does anything for most players anyways. The entire grandstanding section about sexual orientation being a fact of life and not being able to be turned off is also negated by the fact that a couple paragraphs up they say you can just change the orientation of your sims at any point. That is definitely not how it works in real life.
