We have our first official Sims 4 lolsuit.
A Sims 4 custom content creator known as Cowbuild is suing Timmssimms for releasing their pay walled content for free, citing "copyright infringement."

According to the EA ToS in regards to charging for mods and custom content, early access content is allowed to be patron or donation-specific but all content should be released to the public after 2-3 weeks.

From my understanding, Cowbuild was one of those people who was keeping stuff paywalled and refused to release it to anyone besides patrons/donors.

This comes after recent rumors spread that cc creator Felixandre was lifting the personal info of patrons and sharing that information in their personal circle of creator friends.

Timmssimms has been one of the people who is circumventing permanent paywalls, which are against ToS, and releasing that content for free. They have only gone after creators breaking the rules and not creators who are sticking to the guidelines set by EA.

If there any interesting updates I'll try my best to share, but there's quite a bit of drama right now regarding The Sims. A lot more than just this.
Huh, looks like nothing has changed throughout the years.

The previous games in the series had a 4-5 year gap between releases (TS1 came out in 2000, TS2 came out in 2004, TS3 came out in 2009, and TS4 came out in 2014.) So TS4 being out so long with no Sims 5 in sight sounds like things behind the scenes are rather bad.

yeah but maxis was... you know... alive.
back then that is, now they are a rotting corpse forced to do sims4 and sims mobile shit, not counting the simcity buildit update every blue moon.

Anyone with a brain at Maxis was axed or left. Just an army of yes-trannies left milking this like GTA online.
Why make a new game when you can milk this ad-infinitum thanks to your insane fanbase and no competition?

Also if they do work on a TS5, you can bet your ass it will likely be even more barebones than 4 was at launch since they know people will lap it up regardless.

Aren't there a lot of rumours of TS5 being essentially Sims Mobile made for PC with slightly more features (potentially)?

A lot of people aren't particularly happy with TS4 so they'd have to get something right for them to potentially agree to a ton of microtransactions if they take that road

you mean simcity 5? i'm quite sure that if EA did that shit again but the sims they would be probably betting on the fact that gamers became too much of NPC's or that they forgot about that shit.

The rumour is that TS5 will be multiplayer or have elements of multiplayer in it. I remember I went through a phase of binging Sims content and it was one of the talking points, but this article seems to give a good summary of everything:

MP elements seem to be on par with simcity5's glassbox engine which sims4 uses too until a certain degree.
curiously enough EA is betting on sims streamers, by allowing MP they can allow streamers to visit their fans or collab with others, it's part of a projection that even IF it doesn't become true, the possibility remains there. which makes kind of sad as to why simcity5 died badly, it tried to do twitch social shit waaaaay before it's time and a (((pandemic))), it still hold a small amount of loyal people though because simcity 5 is a city management sim unlike cities that even if heavily modded is still a city building sim...
so yeah, EA is aiming right but i'd say a tad too late unless they can fork some money to normies like penguiz0 or xqc to make a stream/video about it then let it rot.

They already did this with The Sims Online. They had brothels in the first week.

So is this at this point even remotely worth the bandwidth to even pirate or do I just need to bite the bullet and fix my Sims 3 installation up to work again? I guess what I'm mostly asking is did they ever come close to addressing the feature gap between 3 and 4 and also bring back the material editor or whatever 3 called it? All this virtue signaling I don't care about I just want to know if I can get to say 75% of 3 but with borderless window and scaling UI built in.

Getting Sims 3 to run well is quite a bit of work but it's doable.
You'll need to get things like SmoothPatch, AwesomeMod, Nraas mods, put on a frame limiter, etc etc, and you'll also want that Save Cleaner around because even after all that, the longer you play on a save the laggier it will get. Because that's how bad TS3 is in terms of coding,

EDIT: Apparently Sims 4 is meant to move onto a F2P model, lol

I remember reading some articles about it, they also didn’t have much in terms of social interaction so all the legitimate players just sat around with items trying to grind for skills.

You misunderstand. It does run well or rather did, I strongly suspect the issue to be the more than 40 gb of random shit I've amassed over the years that I need to curate down some which would be a lot of work. Also the UI not scaling is a problem and if I'm unfucking shit anyway I might as well just do it with a game that's still supported if it's remotely close to what I can get out of 3.

It is now official:

Also, EA is giving a way a free Kit, for TS4 owners who purchase the game before it goes F2P:

Did you watch the latest announcements about the game yesterday? What are your thoughts/opinions about them? The Sims 5 looks very promising, but it will probably be a disappointment. Maybe EA set the bar too high for themselves.

Yes, the new build mode looks suspiciously similar to the one from Paralives. But I think that game is actually a scam and will never be finished.
theyve stated they wanted to put it out on early access at some point in time. when exactly i am unsure, but if i had to guess a timeframe, somewhere between 2023 and 2025 is the most likely bet
