I like your hopeful outlook, but people eat this slop by the bucket load and ask for more. Hell, younger gamers have been raised on mobile-tier games that nickel and dime you at every corner and think it is 100% fine. If you told them back in the day $60 got you a full game and the expansion was a whole 'nother game that actually expanded on the previous one you'd blow their minds, if they already hadn't had them rotted out by tiktok.

It also looks like EA pushed this release early to try to lure back people from inZOI because that game "isn't rainbow enough", even though there are some rainbow aspects to that game.

EA also posted a statement about the Save Corruption bugs, and still haven't said if it will be fixed. The workarounds they provided, i.e. to create empty houses inside with only decorations outside for set dressing, deleting photos, and deleting Sims, is again them admitting that the game is broken as shit and they won't fix it. Also, remember that on TS4's launch, save games had a soft limit of 180 Sims, and if you go over that number, the game starts culling Sims to get it down to that 180 number.

More details about the Project Rene Playtest are coming out, and it's again looking even worse. / Archive

The whole thing looks like a corporate DEI clipart mood board. Sims on mobile devices can work, and they've had good mobile iterations, but they're shamelessly adopting the "make it appeal to as many people as possible" philosophy by making sim creation (and everything else) so brainless. "Does your sim smile at other sims, or does it write in journal?" Wow, how groundbreaking and innovative compared to Sims 2's fleshed out personality and aspirations system.

The biggest issue is that the Sims fanbase is about 90% Women and Gay men right now who treat the Sims as a dollhouse simulator where all they do is make sims and build houses they don't actually play the game and are happy to buy all of the EA slop if it means more stuff for houses and Sims. The fanbase has been this way since the later days of Sims 2, and EA started pandering to them during the later days of the Sims 3, I want to say right around the time University Life came out.

Its probably one of the worst examples of the corporate inoffensiveness and inclusivity style I've seen in a game. Its so fucking bland, its a chore to even read the UI. You also have to appreciate the devolution of player freedom; no more sliders in character creation for you, you get vague "body types" now:

Yeah, I really liked what was it, Sims 3? For this reason. The one that was dog shit in loading time, but infinitely customizable in terms of texture/color of things. I miss that, but I'm definitely a dollhouse moder.

No one wants to play The Sims with other people. If I'm not building fun lots, I'm creating utterly sociopathic, horrid Sims to entertain me for a while before I get bored and go to the next build. I don't need anyone to see just how weird I am.
 
It's crazy how this new game looks somehow worse than previous Sims games.
Personally, I am waiting for the 41% expansion pack where you build a noose, click it, hang yourself and have the game uninstall itself afterwards.

I played some MyZOI the other day, very nice graphics and customization. Still early access so it's missing a lot of further customization and items it'll have on release, but it blew me away how much better the engine and fundamentals are than the current Sims 4

EA is obviously trying to tap into the TOTALLY UNTAPPED mobile market that their subhuman board of directors thinks is a totally unrecognized area for growth with the Sims 5. Embarrassing as fuck, people want more life sim realism with a great gameplay loop, not a 2012 tablet game Tamagotchi

Doesn't seem like many people are fans of this. It does seem like pandering since InZoi is hard to play a gay character. Why else would they do this now instead of waiting until June?
