I’ve noticed that heads tend to be higher poly than they used to be:

Most furniture blends pretty well with in game sprites but you do see people making conversions of sets from other sims games as well:

Good beds are hard to come by since they’re actually the hardest thing in the game to make due to how assigning depth values to objects work. A lot of the time the sims end up clipping through the bedclothes, which is why a lot of nice TS1 custom beds are decorative only for screenshots and can’t be interacted with, while you’ll see a lot of beds that are just recolours of the maxis ones.

I’ve also seen a couple of Japanese CC creators whose stuff is still realistic but like, more anime esque in like, facial proportions:

I don’t think TS1 players get into the same slap fights over maxis match/alpha cc. They’ll use anything as long as it looks good. I think there’s multiple reasons for this, since the player base skews older and also because TS1 kinda was going for a more realistic art style, it just failed at it due to graphical constraints of the time.

Sex animations in The Sims actually started with TS1. They were made by a website called M&M Needful Things, and there are archives of their downloads floating around 'cause I guess there's still demand to see low poly pixel people boning each other. They did do normal SFW CC as well though.

The site still exists but appears to be mostly non-functional - they moved the downloads to a forum which no longer exists.

Here's how the homepage for the Sims 1 section of the site looked in the 2000s if you're nostalgic about 2000s web design. Most of the site from this time frame is archived so you can have a proper nose about. Some of the download links appear to still work since I was able to download some Star Trek TNG skins I found in there:

I never understood people who wanted more sex appeal in their Sims game. Not against the idea of "sexy" items, but not totally explicit, just seems weird to me.
What I really want more then anything is an actual good modern Sims game. Preferably not by EA. Someone already mentioned earlier in the thread on all you needed to do (take the best parts of TS3 and 4 and slap it in TS2). I remember hearing rumors that Paradox was going to make a Sims clone, but that isn't a whole lot better then EA considering they abuse the DLC model almost as much. But at least it would get content.

Honestly I just want a decent alternative of the game, or at least an "existing" alternative, Paralives was a scam and second life is so damn boring, we really need a new game without trash and bugs, or EA shitty DLC´s, but at this rate we can only play sims 2 and 3 over and over again

I think the problem is that, at least on paper, the content isn't "paywalled". CC'ers have been able to keep EA off their backs by claiming that all CC will be released for free at a later date (thus people are paying for early access rather than exclusivity).

But I agree, a lot of these people are much too full of themselves. I can understand being annoyed if someone gets your stuff for "free" but going as far as to keep a list with people's doxx is a whole new level of autism.

This is an extremely ambitious game developed by only like 5 people on crowdfunded backing, and development started 3 years ago. Sure people have made very believable scams before but calling it one at this point is a bit of a reach lol, especially considering the very public identities of everyone behind this.

It's really not, I already explained why. Development started only 3 years ago+extremely small dev team+highly ambitious game. For comparison, Sims 2 was in development for almost 5 years and had a team of 250 employees.

So, apparently there's a new drama within the modding community on Tumblr!
Apparently there are "content creators" that are stealing meshes from others. putting behind paywalls and adfly (which is very much against EA's TOS) and not only that they are also putting trackers/viruses on said archives so they can track those who are redistributing and DOX THEM lmao
The whole things in kind of confusing and I'm still gathering posts and archiving stuff, but it's a mess.

For too long, many Sims 4 custom content creators have been hiding behind out of context quotes and messages from former Sims 4 team members at EA and Maxis to justify criminal actions, such as releasing personally identifiable information (names, payment information, etc.) over UGC they have no rights to paywall. These incidents have happened for years and EA/Maxis fails to clarify their stance on paywalling, perpetuating a cycle of e-violence against their players.

EA’s EULA gives players the right to redistribute User Generated Content that can be accessed via their games (including Sims 4), yet EA says nothing about UGC/cc creators putting trackers as tools for doxing and cyber harrassment into custom content packages for Sims 4. The cycle of e-violence would have no grounds to stand on if EA/Maxis would stop seeing players as only dollar signs and clarify to the creators in the community that said creators do not own the rights to UGC that has coding/is compatible with the Sims 4 game.

There are way too many examples of this e-violence to list them all here, but many of them have been shared over time and I have compiled some examples on my tumblr @Mack3030. Personally, I have been doxed and my work email (at a school) was attacked with spam and porn sign-ups by creators who did not like that I redistributed their permanently paywalled Sims 4 UGC for free. I have blocked many creators over the years for cyber harassing me as well. I am not an exception or an outlier; this happens to way too many players in the community to be swept under the rug or ignored by EA/Maxis any longer.

To EA/Maxis, you have the time to release a paragraph-long statement explaining how the EULA relates to permanently paywalling UGC and the resulting doxing and harassment that follows players redistributing UGC that these creators have no legal rights to be committing crimes over. Use specific wording that cannot be manipulated, protect your players, and get yourself some easy positive publicity. If you refuse after seeing this petition, you are proving to the community that you are no more deserving of our money or brand loyalty than the criminals you would be enabling with your silence.

Honestly, after everything that has happened with the Patreon thing. The doxing ring, the absolute MONEY that people were making from stealing, etc. Like, it’s pretty disgusting. This isn’t just another community drama. This is about hundreds of thousands of dollars, the people who were willing to commit blackmail over it, and the fact that EA sat back for MORE than a decade and let this happen.
I’m just… I know I said it already but I’m disgusted by what I’ve learned.
Like, I have to say I’ve sorry for ever doubting Mack. I mean HOLY SHIT. I know that a lot of my followers aren’t super into Sims news and follow me because I’m pretty much like just for lighter fan content but my understanding of the situation-

1. Creators were making a DOCTOR’S SALARY off of selling video game clothing/furniture. They weren’t supposed to do this but eventually EA decided not to follow their OWN terms of service and just let them break rules.
2. People started pirating and the patreon sellers, rather than being fine with the THOUSANDS they were still making decided to start a doxxing ring. THEN it came out that most of them weren’t even really involved in the community and this was just a money making scheme where they’d illegally take meshes from OTHER places, convert them, and sell them.
3. They called a person’s work to get the fired, started calling people who called them out “poor”, and generally harassed people. That’s not even to mention the general racism and homophobia they spewed
4. When the finally got caught they apparently tried to claim that is was “anti-asian” racism and everyone who called them out was a racist.

This could have been avoided if EA actually ENFORCED their goddamn TOS. Or hired a social media team that wasn’t WOEFULLY inept.

Honestly, I think we need to go after The Sims and Patreon on twitter and social media for this. Patreon for not doing anything earlier and The Sims for not speaking up about it. These pathetic little “oh, we don’t agree with this” is doing nothing. They won’t stop it, obviously. But at LEAST grow a backbone, christ.

And the thing that irritates me the most is I know on some level the ONLY reason that EA says that it’s not okay is legal, at least recently. The man who started patreon literally WORKED for Maxis ON TS2. If I had to take a wild guess, he probably got the idea back when people were trying to sell CC on personal sites.

And don’t even get me started on the statement that Will Wright made on his latest NFT “game”. He literally was like “Oh we had a problem with people pirating content”.

It also pisses me off because back when the people who made the sex mod had someone create unofficial addons for it that allowed for PEDOPHILIA and bestiality, the one thing that EA COULD have done was enforced their policy. That shit would have NEVER gotten made otherwise.

Honestly, I’m so fucking disgusted at this point. If I don’t start hearing about this from the gamechangers on YT I’m pretty much done with the wider community. Like between this and the time that EA worked with a pedophile who tried to GROOM a child?? Then EA tried to fucking ignore it?

Seriously? What the fuck. I don’t know who is running shit up there but maybe “Let the community be taken over by a ring of money hungry doxxers and pedophiles” is something people should start throwing in EA’s face more often.
