I decided to reinstall the Sims 4. Just for something to do. Even though the Sims 4 is 8 years old. There surprisingly little documentation on the game considering it's age. I still have to play through certain careers because no one ever bothered updating a guide or wiki to tell what career abilities you get. You'd think with such an active modding and CC community there would more people cataloging gameplay features. For example the other day I saw a post on reddit telling me Videogame console Tournaments are 4 times faster than Computer Tournaments. I did a search and no one has mentioned this in any forum I looked at, ever, 8 years.

But the state of the reddit is kinda hilarious. You can tell most of the users are super left American women and gay consumers. Most of their played characters resemble Rhianna or Cardi B, those get the most upvotes. Sometimes popular Netflix show characters get lots of upvotes. White Sims don't many upvotes unless a Man is dying or being struck by lightning or involved in being humiliated by a Female sim. It's quite funny seeing their mindset being displayed in such a blatant way.

A very useful tool for modding The Sims 4 has been apparently harassed offline. Sims Mods Updater, a simple program that scanned your mods folder for The Sims 4 and checked for updates of the mods you had installed, seemingly no longer works as of mid-December. The app could also be used to download mods from tsr without the wait and from patreon creators, but as far as I can tell it couldn't access anything behind a paywall.
This seemed to upset one singular person, "Sim's #1 Fan" and patreon content consoomer tranny Waffle_64

I actually first stumbled across this person's bitching when wondering wtf happened to the app and checking the modthesims page for it. They are the only person complaining about the app in the comments with numerous other users making positive remarks hoping the app comes back. The thread eventually got locked due to this, which I don't think I've ever seen happen on modthesims.

Of course, the only action taken was locking the thread and removing a few posts, none of which were of this Waffle person. Searching twitter for more info quickly led me to their tweet chain about all this, again the ONLY person complaining I could find, with hilariously little engagement.



Now, when you run the simsmodsupdater app or go to the website, you're greeted with this message:

Of note is that they link to the wiki for cyberbullying (lol) and they make several mentions of a person and/or people being part of the decision to no longer run the app, despite the initial stated reason of curseforge now being the official solution. As far as I can see this looks like a single crazy person harassing this creator because of a perceived slight against the patreon creators they simp for. Maybe I'm missing something here, but there's nothing being stolen and the patreons just don't get the page click, so genuinely what does that matter?
The SimsModsUpdater twitter has since been taken down so no info on where or when or if this source code will be released. I'd personally be very interested in running the program myself and continue using it provided I can figure it out, but it looks like the offline message went up sometime in mid-December and nada since then. Can't even find much discussion on this online except the aforementioned sites.
Anyway, I'm pissed I have to hand update everything again. I always knew the Sims 4 modding community was incredibly faggy about their precious patreon creators but this is ridiculous. I hope the creator of the app ignores this retard and eventually makes the mod accessible again, but with how long its been it's more than likely he's dfe and we'll never see the source code.

They were bald and in their underwear, and the post titles said something like "Help, my sims keep scaping from my house" or "My sims are starving and dirty". The OP was playing as a plantation owner with a bunch of slaves, it was really bizarre.

If you still got to see it, it means the mods were asleep and/or no one took the bait

That's extremely disappointing. I personally find modding default Sims to be "politically correct" to be retarded. I've never replaced the Gypsy and if it pisses people off, I never will

Pirate Booty also has sections for Sims 3 and 4. If a creator's content is taken down, paid or not, you can probably find it there, although 4's collection is limited and 2's is vast, 3's is rather sizeable itself.
