The Sims Online / FreeSO / Sim Nation and the rest - Are you kiki?

So has the Confederate Weed crew totally fucked off back to the trailer park or are they back to share their common interest with the Brazilians? They seem like some of the funniest people because they were kind of half troll, half really wanted to play.

Is there any ongoing reports on how integration into the Brazilian servers is going? They can be quite insular online and if they were previously cast out for a language barrier I can imagine there is bad blood lingering.

The real tragedy with the weed crew is that the person (using a female sim) that commissioned the Confederate flag roof only ended up playing the game for a few weeks? Maybe a couple months at most. And then they were gone. And this person was largely happy-go-lucky the entire time and then they vanish and the guy holding the can of paint effectively takes all the heat. He (that Oscar guy) didn't handle things well at all and ended up also making a complete ass of himself as he fell into a spiral of paranoia and ego.

Integration is going well enough. There are a few hiccups here and there. Some guy went ape shit in the FSO Discord the other day:

The two player groups largely remain separate in Sim Nation. A couple bilingual people can cross the line and obviously the paying customers have some leeway but by and large the communities stay apart. This is also getting at one of the issues creeping in with Sim Nation; their multi-sim policy really does have knock-on impacts around the rest of the game and is worth looking at in terms of a game design discussion. Generally speaking there is very little communication happening in-game anymore, despite the appearance of more people playing at any one time. Money is also much easier to make, skilling is more forgiving and greening/whiting (the process of keeping your sims' needs at an acceptable level) takes less time to build up and to wear down.

That looks really nice for The Sims 1 with some duct tape and a lighting rig attached. Did 3D mode also work on cell phones? I would love to see their scrapped mobile version in action. Did they ever show it off?

Wow that 3D stuff is really cool.

And The Sims on mobile... are you telling me that EA knew about this, shut it down and has sat on this premise for a decade and has no plans to release it themselves?? Of course.

But that is really dumb. People would buy that. I would buy that.

Hope I am not too late to say it, but great work! I hope this thread keeps growing. It's full of nice details.

I don't have time to deal with the portuguese part right now, unfortunately, but if you could show some places for Brazilian Kiwis to research and help when possible...

Oops! That'll happen today and there is more stuff to add to the OP. Will try to get the Discord scrapes uploaded and linked today as well.

But a quick answer is that the most relevant Portuguese stuff is going to be found in the Sim Nation Discord (linked from their homepage) and on Sim Nation itself in the Portuguese houses.

It appears that the SN Discord channel is now invite-only, rather than public. Interesting when you consider that they need easily-accessible tech support and Discord is where that happens.

Thank you to those of you that have been following along and offered advice on how to improve the thread. You have been extremely helpful. And also accept my apologies for not uploading the Discord stuff over the weekend; something came up related to this project and we went back into research mode for a little. The Discord dumps are being worked on now.

With that said... there are over 100GB of Discord dump data and that number is still growing. :stress:

So give me a few hours and I'll get a Mega link sorted out for you all to use. There are also still a bunch of updates yet to be made to the main three posts, but that will come afterwards. Discord dumps were promised so we need to make that happen first.

Also make sure to check the first three posts if you have not done so in a few days. They each have seen updates.
It looks like it can only upload 20GB to Mega. Let's just put the best stuff in here, including some relevant Sim Nation chats and a few interesting bits. The main FreeSO archive is not here, as it is massive. I will need to figure something out to get this all hosted.

I really want to see that Angel lady's Discord. OP said it was crazy mode. Tilting at lighthouses.

Here! It's here! This is a 17.75GB file containing several Discord channels related to this community. I'll have to package the others up somewhat creatively, especially the primary FSO Discord. But for now you've got some of the good goodies.

This file has a Discord channel called Boardwalk Fantasy Villa. This is Angel Mist's Discord. This one is the one you want to look at; there is no hunting and seeking with this Discord channel, it is all right there. Check it out. I have also made a separate download link just for this specific Discord, which is located here and is a 2.19GB file. If you just want a quick and entertaining download, grab this one Discord channel as all the others are more like homework.

You weren't kidding about the Bible quotes and allegories. Is there any clue how long she has been doing this "angel" routine? It seems pretty baked-in at this point.
