The Ska Appreciation Thread

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
Takes me back to warped “97... ska was popular, bosstones and RBF played...

Ooh, a ska thread! Didn’t expect to see one. I’m not too big into the genre but I’m a fan of Reel Big Fish and if The Interrupters count, them too. Saw both of them at Download 2019 and they were amazing, got me further into them. Kinda wanna see them both again but they probably won’t come anywhere near me any time soon.

I have recently gotten really into Russian music, and have discovered Russian Ska. It is amazing.

My parents are 2-Tone/ska fans going back to the late 70s. My first concert was the Toasters in 1995 when I was one year old; my dad is friends with the lead singer.

I mostly listen to Madness, The English Beat, The Specials, The Selecter and other bands from that era, but I also like Catch 22 and other third-wave bands.

Gonna necro but needs a revival just like 4th wave revival. Found out Bad Manners is touring again this year so this be the second time i've seen them live. Missed out on Stranger Cole & Mephiskapheles last year as the big gig got cancelled. Now if the fucking specials and Aquabats would tour out here i'd be a happy gonzo.

Dude Russian Ska is the best. It's really weird that it even exists. But I still fucking love it. I learnt about Strannye Igry not too long ago from one of my Russian buddies and I've been kind of obsessed with the Russian Ska scene since.
Here's a few songs that I personally like.
