Does anyone know what happened to the "skeptic community"?

Why is pretty much everyone so retarded and degenerate?... It wasn't this way years ago.

I heard an interesting take on the sceptic movement a few years ago. It was held that in the wake of 9/11, getting the conservatives on board for the latest Arab-bombing was easy - "yee haw freedom" - but getting the left onside required a bit more tact, so they pushed and promoted the new atheist stuff. It obviously wasn't a direct call to war (except in the case of professional chickenhawk Chris Hitchens) but it instilled a certian 'white man's burden' type of thinking amongst many in the sceptic community.

It's a bunch of people who knocked out the cornerstone of their own prior belief structures and morality (given most of them are post-Christian for lack of a better term). The degeneracy creeps in and starts rotting everything away from the inside, and eventually it all comes tumbling down.

Realising the lack of foundation upon which to have a set of moral principles, some of them turned to various kinds of 'equalism' or 'equality' as a substitute for God. Amusingly that's how you wind up with not just commies, but also troons, and TERFs. It's all the same postmodern neo-marxist game. Equality is their new unholy trinity, so to speak, and they're effectively just different sects of the same religion.

tl;dr is they started adopting new beliefs which they for some reason didn't consider also being skeptical of - and that's when they stopped looking so clever.

Here is one interesting piece of news of a "skeptic." Cosmicskeptic was a well-known vegan advocating for veganism, and using stupid shit arguments against people who eat meat (despite him eating dog meat himself) with an annoying British holier than-thou accent. He recently announced on twitter that he quit veganism with this message.

It was taking too long to archive his youtube community post, so I turned to wayback machine. It showed me this though, so I guess cosmiccuck must have done something about it. It's strange though since there were about four other snapshots of his community post, but none of them work.

Other Skeptics like Rationality Rules caved to the trans mob, and Cosmic Skeptic and Genetically Modified Skeptic only make "CHRISTIANS CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DID THIS!" click bait videos. CosmicSkeptic calls himself a true skeptic yet chose to be vegan due to animal sentience - not realizing they still have to be killed for his vegan crops - and has the old adage of Science Burying God. Both channels are effectively dead. Both are near 450k subs and yet none can crack 200k views anymore.

Just checked the 3 accounts, mostly 'deconstructing' conservatives like JBP, Ben Shapiro and the like, Cosmicskeptic more on philosophy, but other than that similar. But it is interesting that they never made a video specifically criticizing the SJW/woke/LGBTQ stuff which are the religion of the time, as irrational as the Christianity as they deem. I can't really take them seriously if their goal is to 'bring rationality' and 'enlighten the ignorant' without using the same degree of criticism on Christianity on the woke, especially when the woke has the backing of the elite/globalhomo/whatever and pushed forcibly on everyone else, while Christianity has not. Their focus, I argue, is misplaced.

a huge reason the skeptic community fell apart was in part the moderation at the James Randi Educational Foundation forums. that's where Rebecca Watson started her stint online. She was a hated poster there, and shew as trying to sell a "skepchick" calendar (before it was profitable to pretend to hate the "male gaze") to make money to get famous and get noticed because she was obviously a grifter from the get-go. Rebecca Watson tried so hard to get famous and simps like Adam Savage thinking she's something special when she never was. anyway the leftists there did what leftists do, and with help from some of them including rebecca watson people got accusations thrown at them, and given that the skeptic movement was liberal they all sort of just stepped aside and let it happen because despite acting like brave e-warriors most of the skeptic movement was a bunch of hot air, people on web forums that wanted to talk about obviously stupid shit like reflexology or bigfoot.

after that all the relationships fractured and organizations fell apart. reputations ruined, the yearly convention fell apart... lots of people unimportant to outside of the skeptic movement got metoo'd... this was about when Rebecca Watson Elavator Gate happened.

rebecca watson and her ilk, her flunkies, played a big part, although I don't meant to overstate her power. you just had the grifters do what they did elsewhere.

The wokies wanted the skeptic movement to be fused into the socialist movement, basically. There was enough resistance to prevent that from mostly happening, but it just killed the movement entirely.

That was the "real" skeptic movement, with Penn Jillette etc. The thing that popped up on youtube with Sargon of Akkad, etc. was actually a different movement, with different faces, concerns, and a different genesis.

Mount Rushmore was a byproduct of a more naive time while this is more of a byproduct of Greg's ego. I think it's more that they weren't skeptical at all and any contrarian opinion they had, they picked up from somewhere else, but back then it was harder to determine what people were aping. It became evident over time as well, when any of them were challenged by someone slightly intelligent they fell apart, such as Sargon getting outwitted by Richard Spencer of all people.

As for the Candid people, considering the CEO had a melty and started calling Dangerous Opinions god as seen in that I Hypocrite video, I doubt they did much after that.
