The Skeptic Community - Pseudo-intellectuals ranting on Youtube

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I'm gonna have an "explain like i'm five" moment and ask how to download videos from youtube; I'm not great with technology despite growing up with it.

There's a website you can go to called Keepvid. Don't download any of their shit and keep your adblock on, there also might be some burned in ads that look like download buttons, they'll be green, blue and in large white font, you'll get rid those with block element. You'll see a field for an address bar, copy and paste the URL video you want to download. With videos 1080p and higher, you'll have to download the video separately from the audio. When you click the video only option for 1080p, a popup will appear telling you to highlight and copy the text in the box, followed by instructions to right click on the download link and to paste the text once it's been opened. In fact, you should add these to your filters right now.

Does Hunter Avallone count as part of the "skeptic community"? I'm just going by StraightShooter's latest post here. He's very right leaning, and doesn't support feminism, I think he's heavily against transgenderism (I'm going by old videos where he mentioned that trans people are just whatever they were born as, but with "mutilated" bodies or something along those lines, but I don't know if he's still against it)

I thought I'd bring up his most recent upload

Just like his video "Kathy Griffin is a moron", he makes digs about personal appearance before making a statement. Which just makes me roll my eyes. Does he have to dig at everyone's personal appearance to start his argument? Because it just makes him look like he can't support his shit without this little anchor to weigh it down.

Seriously in the Kathy Griffin video alone you could hold a drinking game where you drink every time he insults someone to help anchor his argument down. He's talking about how whichever comedian isn't funny, but i'm gonna be honest, neither is he. It just comes across like "Look these SJWs are.... uhh..*spins wheel* morons. they- they- look like... like..... *spins wheel* an inbred" it's not funny, it's tryhard as fuck and really cringey.

It's not often I see right-wing people sperging unless it's about someone who's an SJW who they feel like they should tell them how to think (despite saying they're against thought policing).

Honestly this just feels like some next level shit. Apparently they can:
a: make jokes
b: say rude things

c: scratch the above two, they can say whatever they want
purely because "OMFGGGzZZZ SjWS aRE wrONG and STUPID THO BC THEY DON'T THINK LIKE ME!" but as soon as anything is said about other conservatives or their precious daddy Trump, it's suddenly not okay?
They complain about the double standards that feminism has, etc, but it seems like Hunter Avallone enforces double standards as well. Jokes about SJWs are fine
But you can't touch Donald with a joke, that's "crossing the line" Boo fuckity hoo

Seriously both the alt right/conservatives and leftists/SJWs are becoming memes in and of themselves at this point.

Ok I'll concede I may have rushed to judgement when calling Hunter a skeptic, honestly I was subscribed a while back but the immaturity of the videos became grating to watch

Apologies for the double post but,
Honestly it's kinda annoying how the skeptic community is martyring Sargon. Like don't get me wrong Anita is a cunt and she always will be, however I have no reason to believe Sargon didn't think she'd be hostile to him if he sat close enough for her to see him

So from what I've gathered apparently the "skeptic community" on Youtube basically refers to critics of feminism / social justice, or pro "alt-right". Brexit, etc.

Used to be that whenever you heard "skeptic" it referred to a euphoric atheist criticizing religion; so out of curiosity when did "skeptic" start to refer to people like Sargon who criticize feminism and social justice?

I think it was mostly a backlash to when SJWs tried to take over atheism and turn it into this dumbass bullshit named Atheism+ where, apparently, if you wanted to keep your atheist card, you had to sign on to a bunch of fucking horseshit about privilege and genders and other SJW fare. Then they disrupted conferences with fake sexual harassment allegations and other nonsense, and anyone who wasn't on board with the Atheism+ crap got really mad.

So since then, the people they antagonized with this have been vocally hostile to them, but quite often in a really autistic, butthurt way.

In the long term, this might be a good thing. There really shouldn't be an atheist or a skeptic "community" because all they should have in common is being skeptical of stuff, whether that's religion or tumblr gender pseudoscience or, in Sargon's case, crazy 9/11 bullshit.

There are various websites which let you download Youtube videos. Just Google "download Youtube videos" and you'll find them.

Most of your hits are going to be spam and malware sites.

I'd recommend something like a browser extension from an at least semi-curated store, like this from Chrome:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/...per/lmjnegcaeklhafolokijcfjliaokphfk?hl=en-US

This isn't perfect either, because sometimes some extension will start out legitimate and then a later update will include malware or spyware.

Another possibility is just using video capturing software to capture directly whatever is displayed on screen, or buy a dual display/capture card like streamers often use. An advantage to this is it doesn't care what format or what site you're ripping from or what measures they're using to keep you from ripping their video.

Most of the popular sites, like YouTube, change their format somewhat frequently, which often breaks ripping software.

I've used sites like that before with no problems, but I always have Adblock Plus on.

Well I think he made a fair point seeing as she went to the UN to campaign against online harassment but did the same thing in person herself she was rallying against.

That's pretty much the same for me. I enjoy social commentary, but if you're using cheap insults to make a point, extend your runtime, and help keep that ad revenue afloat, then it just gets annoying and seems like he's like every other youtuber out there trying to look edgy to get that YT money.

She could have handled it better. Apparently she called him a "garbage human being" (my only source is POQ right now.. I'd look more into the situation but i've really got to get some work done)

If she did call him a "garbage human being" or something along those lines, I get why she came under fire. If you're going to try and make yourself seem like a victim of blatant misogyny (aka probably just criticism and arguing against her), and then spout that upon seeing him, into a fucking microphone to a crowd of people no less, then that kinda shatters any illusion that you're some helpless feminist being oppressed by the likes of Sargon. That's just how I see it.

If I'm misinformed at all, let me know, i'm certain I got something wrong.

Yeah, I don't believe for a second "the skeptics" didn't went there and sat in the first rows hoping for a reaction. And if Anita wasn't stuck in her perpetual victimhood she could have easily ignored them, or made some semi-humorous remark like "my youtube fanclub is here" and leave it at that. Idk, the whole thing just seems like a good example how both sides need each other.

If i may i'm guilty of being a gamergate faggot. I followed the thing religiously and posted about it and on its boards for the better part of a year. One thing that infuriated most individuals that cared about what was going on in Gamergate is that due to the way things were set up and the mesh design of how people communicated there was zero barrier to entry which gave free ammunition to those that wanted to paint it as harassment to save their own asses from the great "the internet never forgets" Dong that was aimed at their collective ad revenue asses.

The entirety of people talking about actual wrong doing an collusion dug up as the result of gg were instantly labeled a slurry of ism's and ist's because of a handful of third party trolls

So the beautiful irony of seeing ANITA of all people start slinging mud AT vidcon while at an anti harassment panel was just to fucking much to give up. No one actually cares that she said mean words and Sargon isn't the least bit offended but for the sake of pure revenge porn they wanted to make as much noise as they could to make anita look like as much of a dumb cunt as they could and maximize their chances of vidcon having to recognize that one of the oh so holy women of the internet had run afoul of the very anti harassment clauses she wants to have jammed into everything.

Anyway that's my take on it.

This is almost a wall of autism, but pretty much correct anyway.

These "anti-harassment" things are supposed to be shields, but creeps like Anita would prefer to use them as swords.

Like the "codes of conduct" various SJWs try to force on open source organizations, the purpose isn't to protect anyone from imaginary harassment. It's to drive out people they politically disagree with by harassing them, while themselves invoking "codes of conduct" and "anti-harassment" to kick out anyone who disagrees with them, since simply disagreeing with them is "harassment."

Anita more or less proved that.

There is always the option of getting Avast SafeZone, a Chrome clone with built in capabilities to download videos. The drawback is that you can only download in 720p or lower.

What's sad is you used to be able to just copy any video you watched from your browser cache to your hard drive, now we have to make commitments to using dodgy sites, untrustworthy plugins or putting down an investment on capture cards.

Computing Forever has a video up about it. He went to the panel and I don't know how much of it he recorded, but he did get what Anita did to Sargon. Sargon didn't insult back, but he was saying how maybe they should talk instead. During the Q&A, people were trolling and asking questions that Anita refused to answer, she was being called out a lot. Anita had also texted head of security for more security because she supposedly felt so threatened by Sargon, who I understand made only a handful of videos about her if that. Also a third of the audience were skeptics, so it looked like they were expecting a train wreck or something to laugh at and got both.

It always struck me that he kind of obsessively made videos about her and they were all way, way too long and tl;dw but none of them were remotely threatening. It wasn't obsessive I'mma come kill you, it was obsessive I think you're a total fucking idiot.

This sounds exactly like Sargon's normal behaviour.

I'll be sure to check that out.
Honestly, the whole situation is a mad laugh, considering she basically played herself with how she acted and of course the skeptic community will eat that up non-stop until the topic is deemed "old"

Well with the skeptics and SJW's that'll be a while but IMO it's already old

I've been using a Greasemonkey extension called "download youtube videos as mp4" (at least I think that's what it's called). It works, and it hasn't given me a virus yet... I don't think.
