TGWTG The Spoony One / Spoony / Noah Antwiler and Rachel Baker / @RaeAngel07 - The touching romance between a washed-up videogame reviewer throwing a decade-long pity party and his delusional Canuck stalker. #weaknotsick #donttellmehowtosulk

Okay so I refreshed my memory, rewatched the E3 video with the betrayal rant, what happened is there were 2 xcom games developed at the same time: X-COM Enemy Unknown and The Bureau. Spoony was mad at the second, but around 2011/2012 Firaxis cut off ties with the Australian team working on Bureau and doubled down on making a more faithful remake so... the stink Noah made at E3 might have rustled some higher up, but you can't be sure.

I know I heard like a decade ago someone from Firaxis said somewhere that negative reception of Bureau at E3 made them rethink their development direction. Coulda be my aging brain hallucinating things, dunno.
Yeah, pretty much this: The Bureau took a beloved old gaming franchise and made a skin coat for a bland, flavor-of-the-month no-effort cash-in. Spoony's reaction can be compared to a movie channel griping about Disney Star Wars.

I don't understand why you guys give so much attention to his degree. It is not like it expired or he doesn't know shit about computing. I'd say he is more proficient with low-level languages than todays graduates to say the least. If he applied for entry level job with his degree he would certainly get one despite lack of experience you guys so much brag about.

Simply, I don't want to spoil things down but discussion regarding his employment is just out of hand. He has some mental issues that have an impact for his social and proffesional life. The life he leads now is a result of some minor/major problems that makes him unable to sustain himself not to mention a family or so. Throwing him out of the house wouldn't resolve anything other than ending his life prematurely. It is a great thing for him of having supportive family that he has and doesn't cut their ties with him after he graduated college or doing this internet stuff.

That being said, the notion that he is screwed is a bit exaggerated. He still has a plenty of options to start with, like carpet cleaning or car detailling and so on. Just stop measure other people with your own yard-stick.

Yeah, no. He stopped doing anything involving computer science the day he got his degree, he got a semi-related office job out of college and only lasted a couple of weeks before quitting because he watched Office Space and got scared. That was his last "real" job. His words, not mine.

And to address the rest of your comment, he doesn't want to work and isn't trying to get a job. He is happy to play video games all day, tweet a little, and walk his dog. He'll stream every once in a while, but that's it. Once his parents pass he'll be set for the rest of his life with the juicy inheritance. So definitely not screwed but he is retired from life.

Highly unlikely. He hasn't used those skills in over a decade and probably forgot everything he learned, so he'd be no better a candidate than someone who watched an 'Intro to Python' video on YouTube. Not to mention his CV has 'YouTuber: 2007-2024' as his employment history which on its face would get him filtered, but it'd only get worse if they did due diligence and actually looked him up.

And even if he could overcome all of that, he'd still have to get through a face-to-face interview where his social ineptitude would make it clear he is not worth dealing with. I wouldn't hire him to bag fries, never mind do coding.

His degree wouldn't mean shit with a 20 year employment gap. Why would the guy who hasn't done anything in the industry basically since graduating, be proficient in anything? Lets say by some miracle he has retained his 20 year old knowledge, what entry level tech job do you seriously think that would apply to? What, tier 1 tech support that somehow isn't outsourced to India, Malaysia, etc? And even then, the degree would have no relevance. Also considering his inability to do basic video editing, yes I would say he barely knows shit about computing. Let alone anything about modern infrastructure and services.

No shit?

How the hell do you go from his outdated degree and lack of experience for what is coming up on decades, do carpet cleaning and car detailing in the same post? Yes, those are entry level jobs that Spoony could do if he weren't a lazy slob, no one has disuputed that. But to say that immediately after trying to prop up his supposed low-level language programming skills? Come on. That shows even you know better than to have made the first part of your post.

It's been almost 2 months now. What are the odds that Warthog Canada'd herself after Trump won?
Unlikely, most lolcows are too scared to actually go through with it. Instead, they'll just talk about how it's totally going to happen you guys, I need attention. But they love themselves way too much to actually kill themselves.

Paper is paper.
I simply don't understand why are you so harsh towards him.

As I mentioned he has some mental issues that put a weight on him in his personal and professional life.

How the hell do you go from his outdated degree
How in the hell it would be outdated? It isn't like he studied Fortran and Cobol during his college years...

lack of experience for what is coming up on decades, do carpet cleaning and car detailing in the same post? Yes, those are entry level jobs that Spoony could do if he weren't a lazy slob
Stop your projections, okay? If his shrink says otherwise that he needs meds then, for me, the mental issues are sufficient on why he can't hold a job. Of course I fully understand that in your mind the problem is in plain sight - laziness - but I beg to differ.

But to say that immediately after trying to prop up his supposed low-level language programming skills? Come on. That shows even you know better than to have made the first part of your post.
It might be shocking for you and folks alike, but people tend to study one thing and make a career in different field. He, for example, did a IT degree but chased opportunity in entertainment. Dolph Lundgren has MSc in Chemistry but do movies. Rowan Atkinson has BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and also is an actor.

I'd post that picture of Depression Muse and the plastic bag but I don't know where it is.

difference is, they have talent

No, paper is not paper forever. This applies to just about everything. You don't necessarily need to be doing something in the field your degree was in, but you need to have been doing something. The fact that his only jobs seem to have been a short stint as a clerk at a game store(at least I think he mentioned having worked there), and a couple weeks at an office job almost 20 years ago, there's no work history, no work ethic built up. It's fucking meaningless, and that's before technology moving on. No one just waltzes their way into a career with a gap in their work history like that.

Projecting? You sure it isn't yourself doing that? I never said he shouldn't be on meds or whatever. Plenty of people can be on medication for mental health issues and hold down a job. Spoony has proven he's a lazy fuck, on his own damned livejournal. What you're doing is acting like an enabler, attempting to justify someone being a lazy asshole, mental illness or otherwise.

Except Spoony didn't do shit in entertainment, and hasn't done fuck all in a decade. No one ever said your career needs to match your degree. The only thing repeatedly stated by many is that you need to have had a career, something that Spoony does not have as a grown ass man in his 40s whose best shot is to try and start over with an entry level job somewhere like a kid in their 20s.

Ah, one of my proudest early posts on this site:

She made it through that and went inpatient hospital for a few weeks, then said she'd get off social media and I never saw her again, not that I looked afterwards. All her stuff to that point had been scrubbed off youtube and Twitter.

Dude he can't apply a fucking thermal paste to the cpu without fucking it up, would you hire this guy to touch your computor?

This is a very boomerish reply, especially in the tech sector. Most tech degrees are out of date within a couple years if you don't immediately start work in the field and keep up to date with emerging technology.

If he got the degree before then he clearly has the aptitude, but if he wanted to go back into the field he'd basically be starting from scratch, which doesn't put him at any better advantage than your average pajeet. (Plus pajeets have an actual work ethic, unlike Spoony.)

And Junji Ito was a dental technician before he became a manga artist, the difference is they were all successful in their careers. I don't think I'd want Rowan Atkinson wiring my house in 2024, or Junji Ito to oversee the anaesthesia when I'm getting a filling, would you?

I could've use something called anecdotal evidence. It proves nothing as same as yours.

It never crossed your mind that his lack of persistence might be a result of his mental illness? Like, for example, people with ADHD/ADD that are eager for new tasks but without scheduled deadlines will procrastinate/delay tasks endlessly until they are forced to finish it.

People with borderline disorders with their waves of maniac and depressive states also will be burdened with failing entrusted tasks.

Except Spoony didn't do shit in entertainment, and hasn't done fuck all in a decade. No one ever said your career needs to match your degree. Again, maybe it was due to his illness, or perhaps the weight of fame caused him to lack the persistence needed to accomplish anything in any field. None of us really knows what led him to abandon his YouTube career for good and retreat to his brother’s basement, where he now clings to the last remnants of his human dignity.

And many more people have failed. That’s what I’m trying to point out here. Out of the countless people who try to make their dreams come true, only a few rise to the top and then persuade others that with hard work and persistence, they too can succeed. Once again, Spoony is simply an example of someone dealing with mental health issues that kept him from achieving his goals

MAID makes it easier. You see, it's a medical procedure and not suicide, and everyone knows those nice medical professionals would never do anything wrong. I've seen it claimed 5% of all deaths in Canada are MAID, and they'll be happy to provide that service for the mentally ill.

Merry Christmas, all.

I agree he's legitimately, cripplingly mentally ill but c'mon man everyone now has ADHD/ADD/WTF especially in America where it's a license to get clean meth.
