I honestly only know about American politics from what I read on the Internet but since we all love shitting on leftists I figured we'd get a kick out of this. Also it's trending on Twitter so you know it's important.

NEW YORK — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old political novice running on a low budget and an unabashedly liberal platform, upset longtime U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley on Tuesday in the Democratic congressional primary in New York.

The surprise victory by the community organizer in a district that includes parts of the Bronx and Queens came after an energetic, grassroots campaign that mustered more than enough support in a low-turnout race that many had expected to be an easy win for Crowley, a member of the Democratic House leadership.

“The community is ready for a movement of economic and social justice. That is what we tried to deliver,” said Ocasio-Cortez, who has never held elected office and whose candidacy attracted only modest media attention.

She told The Associated Press after her victory that she didn’t have enough money to do polling in the race, but felt in her gut that her message had a chance to connect.

“I live in this community. I organized in this community. I felt the absence of the incumbent. I knew he didn’t have a strong presence,” she said.

Crowley has been in Congress since 1999 and hadn’t faced an opponent in a primary election since 2004, when Ocasio-Cortez was just a teenager. He was considered a candidate to become the next House speaker if Democrats win the majority.

“It’s not about me,” Crowley, 56, told his supporters at a campaign party following his loss. “It’s about America. I want nothing but the best for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. I want her to be victorious.”

He later played guitar with a band at the election night gathering, and dedicated the first song, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” to Ocasio-Cortez.

Crowley represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, where he is also the leader of the Queens Democratic party.

Ocasio-Cortez was outspent by an 18-1 margin during her race but won the endorsement of some influential groups on the party’s far left, including MoveOn, as well as the actress Cynthia Nixon, who is running for governor. She defeated Crowley by 15 percentage points.

Born in the Bronx to a mother from Puerto Rico and a father who died in 2008, Ocasio-Cortez said she decided to challenge Crowley to push a more progressive stance on economic and other issues.

She attended Boston University, where she earned degrees in economics and international relations, and also spent time working in the office of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

After graduating, she returned to the Bronx where she became a community organizer. In the 2016 presidential campaign she worked for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Among her issues is expanding the Medicare program to people of all ages and abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. She recently went to Tornillo, Texas, to protest against policies that have separated parents from their children at the southern U.S. border.

Ocasio-Cortez gained some internet attention for a campaign video called “The Courage to Change,” a two-minute spot for which she wrote the script and featured footage from her own home.

Crowley is chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fourth-highest ranking position in Democratic leadership in that chamber of Congress.

His loss drew the attention of President Donald Trump.

“Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!” he tweeted.

The Republican candidate for the office, Anthony Pappas, is running unopposed and had no primary. Pappas teaches economics at St. John’s University.

She was a Bernie campaigner, is supported by BLM, and wants to abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Also this was in a solid-blue Congressional District so you know she's a shoo-in for next Congress.

But hey, we did get to see Trump laugh at Crowley on Twitter.

One, the SPLC was not founded by Jews (Morris Dees is a Southern WASP) nor is it run by the Jews unless you counted a bunch of upper middle-class hipster dangerhairs paying off their law-school debts as Jewish.

Two, what the fuck are you smoking and can I have some of it?

Your paranoia over the Jews is every bit as ridiculous as SJW paranoia over Nazis.
Well for one, Potock and Cohen are both Jewish and were obviously the head of the SPLC no matter how much you want to hang it on the grifter Dees who was very immersed in jewish culture to the point of being named after a jewish friend of his family. Pointing to things going on isn't paranoia. I don't think jews are out to get me or anything, but I do think those 2 organizations are destructive to what I like and our country's choice of allies in the Middle East is a bad one, Saudi Arabia very much included. I also don't like foreign influence and big money in elections.

To bring this back on topic, what kind of scandals (aside from the outcome of the 2020 Election) do you all think will be the "Big One" that will convince the DNC to drop the Squad for good?
I think the party will have to wait until their star fizzles a bit and a new Democrat excites the party. I think Democrat leadership is waiting for a good time they can do it quietly and the "ascendant" base won't feel betrayed. An Obama 2.0 figure would do the trick nicely.

Omar and Talib are probably going to say something very boneheaded in regards to Islamic terrorism or really ramp up their anti-Israel sperging to a point where not even MSNBC would defend them (VICE might still try to, but they're dying anyway)

AOC is about guaranteed to have someone primary her out of Congress once the 2020 Election is over, possibly even before then depending on who gets the Democratic Party's nomination and whether or not some local Democrat in her district is feeling really ballsy.

Ayanna Pressley is the one I know the least about, and like I said before, she has the highest chance of staying in office but if she does, she'd likely "sell out" after a certain point due to either disillusionment or those sweet payouts from the lobbyists and special interest groups allied with the DNC.
I mean what can they really say that they haven't already? What can be botched harder than the GND? Maybe they will say more about Israel, but the media has already cheapened the whole anti-semite thing on blatantly non-racist and pro-zionist (very arguably contradictory positions) republicans. I don't see MSNBC or CNN really being able to pour cold water on the YAS KWEEN mvmt even if they wanted to while TDS is in full swing. Those people are great for ratings anyway.

To try to stay on topic I don't think it will be a "big one" that's gets rid of the squad, a big scandal would cause to much attention to that matter and the DNC is clearly afraid of a backlash from the danger hair brigade. If they decide to get rid of the squad it will be a quiet back room affair that no one will even notice until it's already done.

Or at the very that's how the DNC will try and do it.

Hell I think they already want them gone in anticipation of such a "big one" happening. I know the DNC as an organization isn't making the best of decisions right now but even they have to see that it's an inevitability if they don't do something about these retards asap.

Redistricting would be the best way to get rid of them. Pit them against less insane incumbents from another district and take them out that way. The media can write clickbait about gerrymandering for a couple of days and that will be that.

It's either that or run women with other types of minority cred against them in the primaries and rig those. Lesbians would be ideal to run against Tlaib and Omar because it basically dares them to come out with the anti-gay sentiment you know both feel, and if they did it would lose them the broader feminist support.

Thank you, Pastor Anderson, now can we talk about the other dumb Semitic Rashida Tlaib

The Arabs and Chaldeans who elected Tlaib will never vote for a lesbian

Omar tweeted out "Allah is a She". I don't think she's legitimately homophobic. Muslims in The West either end up highly secularized (See: Cenk Uygur and Hassan Piker) or they end up radical Wahhabis. One extreme or the other. She seems like a pozzed secular muslim who believes in the LGBT stuff.

YOu're onto something with the minority thing though. The only DSA-types who ended up winning were minorities in minority districts. When it's Democrat vs. Democrat it's all about ethnicity. AOC and Omar both won their Dem primaries thanks to Ricans and Somalis respectively.

The only jews I have a problem with are the only jews AOC and krew don't want gassed.

I have as much enmity towards the Jewish people in general as I do towards the Irish Niggers and Chinks.

That may be true for her personally but she sure doesn't want anyone to bring up the rampant homophobia and anti-feminist attitudes in the Somali community she's so proud of. As far as people like her are concerned only white people need be responsible for inclusivity.

Breaking news. Somebody is not being a good Muslim wife. Omar needs to count her lucky stars that stonings are illegal in America. The man is a soyboy, liberal infidel.

AH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
*COUGH* *WHEEZE*

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

She's finished now!

This will come to nothing, obviously, but I'm not going to lie, I kind of don't mind the Republicans being petty here. God knows the Dems have never shied away from these tactics.

So it's good to waste everybody's time and money with this kind of bullshit to own the libs?

Omar has dumb views, but having dumb opinions and criticizing Israel aren't impeachable offenses. Nor is being Muslim or criticizing Trump.

Nor is being orange, a loud asshole, or the guy who wasn't supposed to win the election, but we haven't heard the DNC et al. shut the fuck up about it since January 2017.
