I honestly only know about American politics from what I read on the Internet but since we all love shitting on leftists I figured we'd get a kick out of this. Also it's trending on Twitter so you know it's important.

NEW YORK — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old political novice running on a low budget and an unabashedly liberal platform, upset longtime U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley on Tuesday in the Democratic congressional primary in New York.

The surprise victory by the community organizer in a district that includes parts of the Bronx and Queens came after an energetic, grassroots campaign that mustered more than enough support in a low-turnout race that many had expected to be an easy win for Crowley, a member of the Democratic House leadership.

“The community is ready for a movement of economic and social justice. That is what we tried to deliver,” said Ocasio-Cortez, who has never held elected office and whose candidacy attracted only modest media attention.

She told The Associated Press after her victory that she didn’t have enough money to do polling in the race, but felt in her gut that her message had a chance to connect.

“I live in this community. I organized in this community. I felt the absence of the incumbent. I knew he didn’t have a strong presence,” she said.

Crowley has been in Congress since 1999 and hadn’t faced an opponent in a primary election since 2004, when Ocasio-Cortez was just a teenager. He was considered a candidate to become the next House speaker if Democrats win the majority.

“It’s not about me,” Crowley, 56, told his supporters at a campaign party following his loss. “It’s about America. I want nothing but the best for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. I want her to be victorious.”

He later played guitar with a band at the election night gathering, and dedicated the first song, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” to Ocasio-Cortez.

Crowley represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, where he is also the leader of the Queens Democratic party.

Ocasio-Cortez was outspent by an 18-1 margin during her race but won the endorsement of some influential groups on the party’s far left, including MoveOn, as well as the actress Cynthia Nixon, who is running for governor. She defeated Crowley by 15 percentage points.

Born in the Bronx to a mother from Puerto Rico and a father who died in 2008, Ocasio-Cortez said she decided to challenge Crowley to push a more progressive stance on economic and other issues.

She attended Boston University, where she earned degrees in economics and international relations, and also spent time working in the office of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

After graduating, she returned to the Bronx where she became a community organizer. In the 2016 presidential campaign she worked for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Among her issues is expanding the Medicare program to people of all ages and abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. She recently went to Tornillo, Texas, to protest against policies that have separated parents from their children at the southern U.S. border.

Ocasio-Cortez gained some internet attention for a campaign video called “The Courage to Change,” a two-minute spot for which she wrote the script and featured footage from her own home.

Crowley is chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fourth-highest ranking position in Democratic leadership in that chamber of Congress.

His loss drew the attention of President Donald Trump.

“Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!” he tweeted.

The Republican candidate for the office, Anthony Pappas, is running unopposed and had no primary. Pappas teaches economics at St. John’s University.

She was a Bernie campaigner, is supported by BLM, and wants to abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Also this was in a solid-blue Congressional District so you know she's a shoo-in for next Congress.

But hey, we did get to see Trump laugh at Crowley on Twitter.

That's not a new thing, really, though it has gotten a lot worse. But even back during the Obama era I saw political blogs by guys that identified as conservative but were trending pretty damn left of center... they hated everything about Bush (his perceived right-leaning traits not his leftist ones), they were pretty big Obama fans, one guy's preferred 2016 candidate was even Bernie Sanders. They were pro-choice and pretty #woke on a good handful of issues... but they were 2A supporters and at least nominally disagreed with higher taxes. That was enough to have them cast out of the leftist fold and make them think they must be conservatives because every other Communist manifesto-shitting moonbat they knew told them they were.

That's why it's so satisfying watching them immediately faceplant. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had barely gotten her seat warm before the investigations started. Some of the lies she told were so blatant and stupid that even her own supporters doubt her- she claims to have only gotten involved in politics in 2017, but there's film footage of her working on the Bernie campaign. There are newspaper stories about her at Standing Rock.

I legitimately think she's mentally unwell. I can understand wanting to edit out Gillibrand, but how in the fuck did she expect people to forget about working on a presidential campaign?

I have my doubts that she’s mentally unwell. She’s the typical millennial woman who has had so much smoke blown up her ass that she believes her own bullshit. A fawning, uncritical media is there to happily assist her in LARPing as a philosopher kween.

Omar calls for UN to handle migration crisis at the southern border

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., told a Minneapolis audience this week that the United Nations should be brought in to oversee the migration crisis at the southern border.
“We should do what any other country does, by dealing with this situation in a serious way," she told the audience on Tuesday. "So we have to bring in the United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees – an agency that has the expertise and the training to handle massive flows of refugees humanely."

Earlier, she declared that the U.S. is “losing our moral high ground” on the question of immigration and asylum. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that she made the remarks at a town hall on immigration in south Minneapolis.
“We are treating people like criminals when they have not committed a crime,” she said.
"It doesn’t make any sense for us to be committing these kinds of human rights violations, to have these policies in the way we interact with migrants and asylum seekers if we want to continue to be the kind of country that condemns countries in Africa, in Asia or Latin American countries for its treatment of refugees and asylum seekers,” she said.
Omar is one of the four freshman congresswomen, known as “The Squad,” who have played a prominent role in pushing the Democratic Party increasingly to the left on the question of illegal immigration and asylum. Many of the party’s 2020 hopefuls now embrace policies such as health care for illegal immigrants, the decriminalizing of illegal border crossings and abolishing or overhauling Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
In response to the migration crisis, which has seen hundreds of thousands of migrantsflooding to the border in recent months, the Trump administration has set out to tighten immigration law and increase enforcement at the border -- including closing loopholes in the law, and building new barriers at the border in places such as Arizona and Texas.
It has also been securing agreements with countries south of the border, including Mexico and Guatemala -- something that officials at the border recently told Fox News is having an effect in dissuading migrants from making the trip north.

Omar, who came to the U.S. as a refugee from Somalia, has advocated for a number of those extreme proposals. In May, she criticized Trump’s immigration plan and laid out a list of counter-proposals that would curb enforcement and grant amnesty to illegal immigrants already in the country.
"We need to abolish ICE and end all inhumane deportation and detention programs. We need to fight back against the criminalization of immigrants and those crossing the border,” she said. “We need to create a fair and accessible path to legal status and citizenship for all undocumented people in the United States.”

Omar goes on an on about "The illegal occupation and destruction of homes in Palestine!", but by her own preferred legal and religious code, she's illegally occupying and destroying a home. I can't wait to see how welcome she is in Somalia, since they're viciously Islamic there, and what she's done is not just haram for the adultery, but also incredibly poorly received unless the dude converts and they produce Muslim offspring.

Claiming asylum after you've already been caught crossing the border illegally doesn't make it not illegal. Also, what high ground? Does she think that European countries don't kick unauthorized migrants to the curb/hold them in detention facilities?
 
Breaking the law is not a crime if you're a benighted Mexican incapable of independent thought who needs to be protected by Mommy Government.

Wear a sign that says “Omar’s aide’s marriage” while pretending to be dead and shit.

With a little luck a few Kiwi’s could join me. We’ll have our own little chants (“One-Two-Three-Four How many marriages did you wreck you whore! Five-Six-Seven-Eight-Dont steal husbands, masturbate!”) and hold up a bunch of autistic signs like: “Lower taxes-Fewer whores!” “Allah says: Thy shall built a wall!” Or maybe “Transwomen Against Illegal Immigration!”

Judging by their reaction to a (lol!) straight pride parade, it apparently doesn’t take much to rile up these nutcases. The salt will be delicious!
