I honestly only know about American politics from what I read on the Internet but since we all love shitting on leftists I figured we'd get a kick out of this. Also it's trending on Twitter so you know it's important.

NEW YORK — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old political novice running on a low budget and an unabashedly liberal platform, upset longtime U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley on Tuesday in the Democratic congressional primary in New York.

The surprise victory by the community organizer in a district that includes parts of the Bronx and Queens came after an energetic, grassroots campaign that mustered more than enough support in a low-turnout race that many had expected to be an easy win for Crowley, a member of the Democratic House leadership.

“The community is ready for a movement of economic and social justice. That is what we tried to deliver,” said Ocasio-Cortez, who has never held elected office and whose candidacy attracted only modest media attention.

She told The Associated Press after her victory that she didn’t have enough money to do polling in the race, but felt in her gut that her message had a chance to connect.

“I live in this community. I organized in this community. I felt the absence of the incumbent. I knew he didn’t have a strong presence,” she said.

Crowley has been in Congress since 1999 and hadn’t faced an opponent in a primary election since 2004, when Ocasio-Cortez was just a teenager. He was considered a candidate to become the next House speaker if Democrats win the majority.

“It’s not about me,” Crowley, 56, told his supporters at a campaign party following his loss. “It’s about America. I want nothing but the best for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. I want her to be victorious.”

He later played guitar with a band at the election night gathering, and dedicated the first song, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” to Ocasio-Cortez.

Crowley represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, where he is also the leader of the Queens Democratic party.

Ocasio-Cortez was outspent by an 18-1 margin during her race but won the endorsement of some influential groups on the party’s far left, including MoveOn, as well as the actress Cynthia Nixon, who is running for governor. She defeated Crowley by 15 percentage points.

Born in the Bronx to a mother from Puerto Rico and a father who died in 2008, Ocasio-Cortez said she decided to challenge Crowley to push a more progressive stance on economic and other issues.

She attended Boston University, where she earned degrees in economics and international relations, and also spent time working in the office of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

After graduating, she returned to the Bronx where she became a community organizer. In the 2016 presidential campaign she worked for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Among her issues is expanding the Medicare program to people of all ages and abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. She recently went to Tornillo, Texas, to protest against policies that have separated parents from their children at the southern U.S. border.

Ocasio-Cortez gained some internet attention for a campaign video called “The Courage to Change,” a two-minute spot for which she wrote the script and featured footage from her own home.

Crowley is chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fourth-highest ranking position in Democratic leadership in that chamber of Congress.

His loss drew the attention of President Donald Trump.

“Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!” he tweeted.

The Republican candidate for the office, Anthony Pappas, is running unopposed and had no primary. Pappas teaches economics at St. John’s University.

She was a Bernie campaigner, is supported by BLM, and wants to abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Also this was in a solid-blue Congressional District so you know she's a shoo-in for next Congress.

But hey, we did get to see Trump laugh at Crowley on Twitter.

She's already dating a tall, extremely white Irish(?) man. She's one of these white-haters who has never and will never date someone mestizo or black.

For a second, I imagined what life would be like if our ancestors farmed soy instead of hunting. It was not pleasant.

An alternate universe where when the English starved Ireland by taking away their potatoes, they gave them soy instead, feminizing them and removing their will to resist oppression.

I thought Russians were considered niggers of the whites.

On hindsight, Russians are probably more akin to barbarians.

The Irish and Scottish were the ones the English tended to outright use as slaves and consider to be at best subhuman, an attitude which carried over into America. It's really relatively recently that the Irish became "white" and considered to have privilege, up until then they did in fact occupy a social strata similar to black people, so calling them "white niggers" is fairly accurate. Of course now that they are just white, none of that actually occurred and "No Blacks and No Irish" were only serious about the "no blacks" bit, the "no Irish" part was all in good fun.

Indeed, case in point, watch gangs of new york. Theres quite a bit of the 'irish nigger' stuff in that

I dont know if this is true since I can find only one source for it and even Breitbart makes no mention of this on their front page.

Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib did not stand after President Trump recognized Tuskegee Airman Charles McGee during the president's State of the Union address.

Most of the lawmakers in attendance for Trump's Tuesday night speech gave McGee a standing ovation when the president acknowledged him, but the pair of freshmen Democrats were notably resolute, remaining in their seats.

During his address, Trump honored McGee and his great-grandson, Iain, 13, who "aspires to go to the Air Force Academy."

"Sitting beside Iain tonight is his greatest hero of them all. Charles McGee was born in Cleveland, Ohio, one century ago. Charles is one of the last surviving Tuskegee Airmen, the first black fighter pilots, and he also happens to be Iain's great-grandfather," the president said.

"After more than 130 combat missions in World War II, he came back to a country still struggling for civil rights and went on to serve America in Korea and Vietnam. On Dec. 7, Charles celebrated his 100th birthday," Trump continued. "A few weeks ago, I signed a bill promoting Charles McGee to brigadier general. And earlier today, I pinned the stars on his shoulders in the Oval Office. General McGee: Our nation salutes you."

Tlaib and Omar broke with their fellow "Squad" member, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, in attending the president's address.

New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her boyfriend, Riley Roberts, discussed tips for talking to white people about racism in an Instagram video posted Friday night.

Ocasio-Cortez, 30, asked Roberts to give viewers any recommendations he had for “combating racism.” Roberts said he believes it is important to educate white people on issues where they may not know they are being racist.

“It’s helpful and important to talk to other white people about racism, and I think a lot of people, they don’t want to be racist,” Roberts said. “They don’t think that they’re racist, but they also don’t know some of the things that they believe or say are and can be racist.”

He continued, “I think one of the effective ways is just to talk and kind of help teach them about why some of the things they believe or say or think are wrong. Not necessarily racist, but that they are wrong and that will sort of, like, chip away and contribute to some development in this area.”

Roberts acknowledged that this method wouldn’t “take someone from being a racist to not being a racist in one conversation,” but said it could be a good starting point.

Ocasio-Cortez added that she believes it is important to “be open to learning about racist things that we may have said or done” in a setting that is judgment-free. She said it would limit some of the defensiveness white people feel when they are confronted about racism.

Roberts, a startup consultant, started dating Ocasio-Cortez when they attended school together at Boston University. In 2019, the Coolidge Reagan Foundation filed an ethics complaint alleging that Ocasio-Cortez used her campaign to funnel money to Roberts.

The organization also filed a complaint against the New York Democrat with the Office of Congressional Ethics after she allegedly gave Roberts an official mail.house.gov email address while maintaining that he did not work in the office.

Yeah, I'm not going to be lectured about how to behave by a soyboy named Riley.

If they're sincere about this ( :doubt: ) then I guess that's a step in the right direction, but it's probably just a longer-form version of "do what we say or you're a bigot".

Agreed. There are times I wonder if this is all a parody by MAD magazine or legit.

You might as well replace the word Racist with Reptoids or Possessed by Demons, or even Witch.
Sadly white people are the new witches with the left acting like they're righteous people on the right side of history.

I think prejudice SHOULD be mention, but to learn and reform, not to demean or judge others. I hope it will be "judgment-free" but given today's climate, it's unlikely.

Is there anyone in Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's life who isn't under government investigation? It's weird how all of her friends have been accused of crimes.

But the regressive left's idea of 'racism' is not wanting to be punched in the face by Mike Brown when you're stuck behind him as he waddles his fat out down the middle of the street.

I just love the fact that leftists constantly demonizing whites is only making some of them who previously didn't have bigoted or prejudiced feelings start feeling that way. Good job, faggots.

Just how much do you have to hate yourself to be dating HER of all people? As if normal tantrums and shit-tests aren't bad enough, now every time she doesn't get her way it's because you're a WAAACIS!
