I honestly only know about American politics from what I read on the Internet but since we all love shitting on leftists I figured we'd get a kick out of this. Also it's trending on Twitter so you know it's important.

NEW YORK — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old political novice running on a low budget and an unabashedly liberal platform, upset longtime U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley on Tuesday in the Democratic congressional primary in New York.

The surprise victory by the community organizer in a district that includes parts of the Bronx and Queens came after an energetic, grassroots campaign that mustered more than enough support in a low-turnout race that many had expected to be an easy win for Crowley, a member of the Democratic House leadership.

“The community is ready for a movement of economic and social justice. That is what we tried to deliver,” said Ocasio-Cortez, who has never held elected office and whose candidacy attracted only modest media attention.

She told The Associated Press after her victory that she didn’t have enough money to do polling in the race, but felt in her gut that her message had a chance to connect.

“I live in this community. I organized in this community. I felt the absence of the incumbent. I knew he didn’t have a strong presence,” she said.

Crowley has been in Congress since 1999 and hadn’t faced an opponent in a primary election since 2004, when Ocasio-Cortez was just a teenager. He was considered a candidate to become the next House speaker if Democrats win the majority.

“It’s not about me,” Crowley, 56, told his supporters at a campaign party following his loss. “It’s about America. I want nothing but the best for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. I want her to be victorious.”

He later played guitar with a band at the election night gathering, and dedicated the first song, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” to Ocasio-Cortez.

Crowley represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, where he is also the leader of the Queens Democratic party.

Ocasio-Cortez was outspent by an 18-1 margin during her race but won the endorsement of some influential groups on the party’s far left, including MoveOn, as well as the actress Cynthia Nixon, who is running for governor. She defeated Crowley by 15 percentage points.

Born in the Bronx to a mother from Puerto Rico and a father who died in 2008, Ocasio-Cortez said she decided to challenge Crowley to push a more progressive stance on economic and other issues.

She attended Boston University, where she earned degrees in economics and international relations, and also spent time working in the office of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

After graduating, she returned to the Bronx where she became a community organizer. In the 2016 presidential campaign she worked for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Among her issues is expanding the Medicare program to people of all ages and abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. She recently went to Tornillo, Texas, to protest against policies that have separated parents from their children at the southern U.S. border.

Ocasio-Cortez gained some internet attention for a campaign video called “The Courage to Change,” a two-minute spot for which she wrote the script and featured footage from her own home.

Crowley is chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fourth-highest ranking position in Democratic leadership in that chamber of Congress.

His loss drew the attention of President Donald Trump.

“Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!” he tweeted.

The Republican candidate for the office, Anthony Pappas, is running unopposed and had no primary. Pappas teaches economics at St. John’s University.

She was a Bernie campaigner, is supported by BLM, and wants to abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Also this was in a solid-blue Congressional District so you know she's a shoo-in for next Congress.

But hey, we did get to see Trump laugh at Crowley on Twitter.

Imagine finally seeing someone in your age group get into congress and it's this dumb bitch. Every single thing I've seen about her just screams red flag so at this point, Dems deserve the crumbling tower of shit they get if their big ticket nominee is the type of person who unironically says "lol why didn't Thanos just make more resources" when in a conversation with others.

It sounds like she's saying they practised a weird pidgin religion like voodoo. No wonder she has crazy eyes.
Isn't that what the Spanish Inquisition was after? Secret Jews who were impersonating Christians out of fear they would hurt Christians? Can we put her on the rack and just stretch her until we solve the problem?

Why would you have preconceptions about an entire people?
Jews aren't people. They're vile subhuman trash that must be gassed.

So if she gets a speaking gig for black Americans, will she claim to be black as well?

Why would you have preconceptions about an entire people?
because they are disgusting people who believe thats it totaly okay to buy and sell people?
have a little read in their holy book,. Exodus 21:17. but be warned, its realy realy disgusting.

Nah, she wouldn't go, she's afraid of those super-predators Hillary was warning us about.
To be fair I don't go down MLK blvd unless I have my trusty Hi-Power, body armor, and enough spare mags to take on an entire mini-Liberia that is the negro neighborhood. Blacks are foot soldiers of the Jews against the White man.

I wonder if she's in favor of a war with Iran now?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says she's taking time off for 'self-care' before stepping into office in January.

The New York congresswoman-elect announced Monday in an Instagram video that she'll be taking a week off to prevent feeling burnt out before she even begins her new job.

'I am starting a week of self-care where I am taking the week off and taking care of me. I don't know how to do that though, so I would appreciate any and all self-care tips,' she said.

The 29-year-old Democratic Socialist revealed that she drove to 'the middle of nowhere' in upstate New York with books, lavender oil and music, and later took to Twitter to politicize her decision for time off.

'For working people, immigrants, & the poor, self-care is political - not because we want it to be, but [because] of the inevitable shaming of someone doing a face mask while financially stressed,' she wrote.

Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez asks for 'self-care tips'.

Ocasio-Cortez later said self-care is political for working people and the poor.

She said on Monday that she'll spend a week in upstate New York 'in the middle of nowhere'.

Ocasio-Cortez lamented how campaigning for her future position has taken a toll on her heath routines, saying she neglected herself in the process.

'Before the campaign, I used to practice yoga 3-4x/week, eat nutritiously, read and write for leisure,' she wrote on Instagram.

'As soon as everything kicked up, that all went out the window. I went from doing yoga and making wild rice and salmon dinners to eating fast food for dinner and falling asleep in my jeans and makeup,' she added.

Since unseating longtime Democratic Rep Joe Crowley in the New York primary earlier this year, Ocasio-Cortez has been vocal in her fight toward socialism.

She recently promised to pay her interns a 'living wage' and is actively hitting back at critics who mock her appearance and age as the youngest person ever elected to congress.

It may also be her constant battle with Republicans that has her so worn out, after most recently clashing with Kelleyanne Conway, Donald Trump Jr and Sen Lindsey Graham who question her political knowledge.

Her comments have left some questioning her ability to hold a governmental seat, after she said there were three chambers of Congress (there are two: the House and the Senate), threatened Donald Trump Jr with subpoena power and compared the Central American migrant caravan to Jewish refugees fleeing Nazis.

But now she says she'll be spending a few days with 'lots of books to choose from, epsom salt, lavender oil, notebooks, pens, music etc...'

The 29-year-old Democratic Socialist said without self-care 'activists WILL burn out and walk away'.

She wrote on Instagram that campaigning took a toll on her heath routines, which included yoga and healthy eating.

She said on her Instagram story that 'self-care is important for activists'.

'Without it we WILL burn out and walk away,' she added.

Ocasio-Cortez welcomed tips from her followers on how to pamper herself this week and promised to take her base along with her as she 'learns what self-care even means and why it's important'.

'I keep things raw and honest on here since I believe public servants do a disservice to our communities by pretending to be perfect,' she said.

'It makes things harder for others who aspire to run someday if they think they have to be superhuman before they even try,' she added.

Ocasio-Cortez and other newly-elected lawmakers will begin their term on January 3.

Nice to see a self-proclaimed socialist getting a taste of the bourgeois life.

So who is she going to order purged first?

This is the most upper middle class white girl in the history of working class WoC. Can she be any more of a valley girl princess?
